Senior officials outside the agencies who received intelligence briefings. Generally speaking, leaks come from the audience. They are impressed by the content and generally unaware or indifferent to the harm they do to capabilities.

Why did Robert Hannigan, who had been the head of GCHQ for only two years and was just 51, resign two days after President Trump's inauguration and just five days before Prime Minister May visited Trump here? It looks very much like he was fired.

GCHQ may have passed to the Obama administration surveillance results suggesting some weak connection between Russia and one or more persons closely associated with Mr. Trump. That information may then have been intentionally leaked to the U.S. press and made the basis for stories slurring Trump's associates--and indirectly Trump himself--by innuendo.

That makes sense but it isn't unheard of to get a bad apple in charge of an intelligence agency. It was like that from the very beginning, J Edgar Hoover comes to mind. And that Clapper character has been caught in more than one lie. So has Brennan to the point people were calling for Obama to fire him over spying on Congress and lying about it. Heck someone ordered them to spy on the press! Then you have Comey who clearly had the goods on Clinton and how he handled that left most people scratching their head. We had AG Holder who got caught lying during Fast and Furious. We had AG Lynch meeting with the husband of the Democratic candidate on the tarmac while he and Mrs. Clinton were and still are under investigation into the Clinton Foundation. There has been so much deceitfulness come out the past 8 years.

I'm not going to address anything in detail but I can tell you you are wrong about both Brennan and Clapper. The parable of the blind men and the elephant applies.

Thanks, the British Conservatives support smaller govt which tends to be a standard for Conservatism most parts of the world. Healthcare is an issue the conservatives have to support or never be re-elected again. Most of the other policies were standard EU policies that govt had to work with once they had been agreed across all EU govt.

Still no Hilary Clinton manifesto?
