Veteran starts GoFundMe page to fund Trump's wall

Assuming that you occasionally go outside: it is FAR EASIER to keep people from defeating a 30+ foot wall with, zero grips points, outward facing concertina wire, than it is to keep the same people from circumventing a 15 ft. fence with handholds from top to bottom.

You may not understand this, I realize...

Not if you can't see through it.

That said, some dingdong on Faux News is already suggesting they should sell advertising on it.

So if they do choose Bollard Fencing what does that mean? Would somebody have to be at a wicked acute angle such that the Bollard looks solid? Conversely are we going to completely ignore what CBP actually wants for physical barrier, something they can see through and put up a solid wall because we are too stupid and stubborn?

Why wouldn't it be "legit." If people want to pay specifically to build Trump's wall, let them. I don't know whether that'll get the wall built, but folks can certainly donate their money to an effort to fund the government's doing so.

I highly doubt it's going to get the wall built

Lets see how far this will go. It might be a good indication how many people really want a wall and how many will hold Trump responsible for giving in. He made a promise, people voted for him because of that promise. So imho, this is about what people want and not just about Trump, but more so about anything and anyone who might make it happen.

His promise was empty.

Cool. As long as as my my tax dollars aren’t used for it then build away. Now we just need to get them to start paying for all the pointless wars with Gofundme as well. :)

Seriously, though, is there even a mechanism by which individuals and groups can specifically earmark donations to the federal government for specific things?

On your tax return. You can designate 3 USD to the presidential election campaign fund. I do it every year. It does not impact your refund or liability. It's simply earmarking the money for a purpose. I don't like big money in politics, so I check that box

It HAS. CUTTING SPENDING will end the deficit, as TAX REVENUES are UP.

GoFundMe is apparently working....cool.

Interesting, though it hasn't come close to paying for themselves and cutting spending wasn't the original pitch.

Yeah, I do that too. But if I have billions of dollars I want to give to the government to pay for the wall, I think a different mechanism would be needed. Because if you just make it out to the Treasury then you have no guarantee what it would be spent on.

Hey, ya know, while they are at it, maybe do a study on how many fingernails will eventually need be broken just so someone can have this wall... and what about all the porta-potties necessary, eh? We should not forget that heavy expense item... these potties are not self cleaning either, need constant maintenance as well, emptied how many times a week?

Seems like a fact you might actually know...

Just curious, how many other negative obstacles can you name? Too bad we didn't have this kinda thinking before man became civilized... then we wouldn't need all this constant fighting for and against socialism, everybody would have remained equally dirt eating poor...

Obviate the whole wall thing...Problem solved.

They're not negative obstacles; just obstacles that you have to solve. They're perceived as negative when you don't want to be bothered with the details, which is what poor planners do. If I'm spending $25 billion on a wall, I want these things sorted out and have people asking those questions. If you're ok with vague plans that's on you.

What "race" are illegals? And how is a BORDER "racism"?

The problem with that meme is that dems have had control of the government on more than one occasion, and hispanics have, indeed, voted for republicans, not the majority, but maybe a 1/3. Illegals are future voters, when they do get their papers. Almost all Cubans voted republican, when they finally became legal. Didn't see a wall like that with that crew, either.

No wall like that that I can recall, was ever built. Hmmm, something's amiss with this meme.

Jokes are funny when they have a ring of truth. When they don't, only morons laugh at them.

Okay then, please answer my questions, how many fingernails broken... and don't you think we should not be so vague as to not ascertain such beforehand? And porta-potties during and after, what is that cost?

C'mon man, you must agree those are [positive] obstacles then. Among the millions of considerations a truly good planner must make before making, taking the first step. Right?
:lamo

Oh, speaking of steps, what kind of shoes should the workers wear? Steel toed, leather, biodegradeable... what?

And what about the purchase/total estimated cost of sun block for workers out there in the hot desert sun? Skin cancer risks long term? Costs of health care and potential skin cancer deaths? Hat purchases as well, especially for those unfortunate bald guys... and shouldn't a study be done on whether or not we should hire said bald guys... and beyond that if it should be considered discrimination against bald guys to hire them or not hire them?

My brother is bald, I am very very concerned... what if he were to take a job in such potentially dangerous job situations. How would that impact his unborn grandchildren? Great grandchildren?

I agree, such vagueness in planning could be utterly disastrous... should be sorted out way before we begin any such endeavor. Don't want any of this to be on me, that would be so, so... well, I would never be able to forgive myself.

I must say, I'm impressed that you put in so much effort into your word salad and still managed to say absolutely nothing. Congrats!

$3 million! Wow. Only $24,997,000,000 to go. Yeeha!

'There's 1 born every minute' Someone has to be all sorts of gullible and stupid to give their money to something like this. WOW!!!

This weekend when Trump is golfing yet again, him and his crime family will sit around the dinner table trying to figure out a way for them to get their hands on this money too... lol

Haha, wait until he launches into his "I'm rubber, you're glue..." defense.

They should ring up the current administration to find out what the staffing and maintenance costs are going to be as well. In order for walls to be effective, they need more support than just being built. Oh, and they'll need clarification on whether the wall will include a section underground to prevent people tunneling underneath it; that will add to the cost as well.
Plus all of the private property that they’ll need to buy up.

Consider, this guy, even after being nationally exposed is, still, to this day, raking it in.

Hey, he was one of the greats. Let's not forget that.

My friends and I spent many a Sunday morning glued to the TV watching him.
