Trump orders rapid withdrawal from Syria in apparent reversal

With the US withdrawal, Trump has strategically ceded Syria to Assad, Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.

Guaranteed, this short-sighted decision is going to bite the US in the ass down the road.

Indeed.

I'd like for the US not to be involved in the Middle East but that is a big topic that is grist for another mill. Having said that, Trump's out of his ass foreign policy making is going to get people killed. Basically Trump gave the Kurds the middle finger and gave Putin thumbs up.

Our people in Syria are and will be in a tough spot even if adults somehow convinced Trump that he screwed up royally again. Even if our people remain deployed in the region their gains have been and will be diminished.

Trump's foreign policy continues to be to crap on our allies and reward our enemies.

Even Republicans are now seriously questioning Trump's competence and sanity.

Well Bubba Syria's problem started over a civil war. Assad allowed all kinds of terrorist groups to enter his country in hopes it would help him keep control and they are still there. It's a friggin mess. We completed our mission in Syria. It is time to move out.

Regarding the thread, I believe the hypothesis is that Obama was Assad's bitch (and by extension Putin's bitch even back then) when he didn't follow on his red line threat.

You just have to admire such a well crafted strategy - than nobody in the White House can explain and nobody in the Pentagon has heard of. It almost makes you wonder if he is trying to divert the news cycle - again.

I was gonna ask if you care about Kurds getting slaughtered and then I realized I already knew the answer.

Some of these posts in this thread are just eye-raising.

Weren't these the same guys demanding every day to get our troops out of Iraq? Now all of a sudden Trump withdrawals from Syria, and they don't like it?

Talk about some chicken hawks on this forum.

Gotta feeling the Pentagon will deal with this like they did his transgender ban. Nada, nada, na-da.

We've got a volatile, uninformed POTUS, the CiC tweeting irresponsibly and possibly acting against our interests and those of our allies.

Or acting in the interest of his bank-rollers.

After we killed more than 200 Russian mercenaries and wiped out ISIS in Syria remind me again exactly why we should risk American sons blood?

Because we haven't wiped out ISIS and the Russians are still there.

The Pentagon doesn't believe the mission is complete.

My opinion? You want my opinion? Then just ask.

I think wars are ****ing stupid but I'm predominantly opposed to genocides. That is where I think stepping it warrants tough action. So when you go into stupid republican wars that we've been injected into and start bombing giant vacuums, you are creating a scenario of a genocide to follow. Assad is going to slaughter with impunity now with Russia's backing and probably chemicals. We are there. We need to back out in a way that hopefully reassures this won't happen. But trump spoke. And the sheep will all the sudden think evacuating immediately is the greatest idea ever. **** the generals. **** the senate or telling anyone and **** our allies views... because trump spoke and the cult abides.

On another note, Trump said today that ISIS is defeated. Do you actually believe this? They will come back and the GOP will miraculously somehow blame it on the Dems... Obama or Hillary most likely.

It seems you opinion is based on nothing but Trump hate. So it really isnt worth much.

I knew you'd do this. You fall to your knees and beg me to put my opinion out there and then dismiss it without much effort. It's why I usually don't provide much effort towards your questions. Because you questions and accusations are just bait to get to this point. It is who you are.

It's your questions that are worthless. Because they are just set ups for your responses which are worthless.

Here's a link to your forum posts. You know how it only shows the first little bit of an entire post? Well I can read pretty much all your posts in total by reading that page because you never make it past that first little bit. You contribute nothing. Making your posts pretty much as worthless as it can get.

The thought has occurred to me that this "out of the blue" decision to end the Syrian chapter of the (endless?) war on terror just might be in order to create some (suddenly no longer needed?) funds which could then be "repurposed" for funding the Great Wall Of Trump. I hope that is not the case but would not rule it out as a possible Trump "business decision".

Lol that was my first thought as well.

What was your actual opinion? It must have been buried under all that Trump hate.

Case and point. Worthless bait.

I've known you now for over a decade. I guess shame on me for ever thinking you actually are representing yourself truthfully. My bad.

It was not my first thought but Trump can be a very odd thinking person at times. The timing of this decision is certainly questionable.

Obama had nothing to do with Iran's influence in Iraq. GW Bush overthrew Saddam and then vetted and approved the election of a Iranian sympathizer as President of Iraq. The date for withdrawal from Iraq was determined when Bush signed the documents that specified that date for withdrawal of all American troops. The Iraqi's held us to it leaving Obama no other good options. What makes you think we have reached the point where we desert our allies and bend to Putin's will again? What gives him the right to determine the future of Syria? Why is kowtowing to Putin always the right choice for Trump? Could his dream of Trump Tower Moscow be more important than America's allies and influence? Is betraying American interests an impeachable offense?

Its impossible to take any post seriously that is filled with that level of idiocy about Putin.

There has to be a time to withdraw troops otherwise we have an endless war like Korea

I guess I just more cynical than you ;) It was the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard it and Im still not convinced it is the wrong conclusion. lol

Since nobody in the government knows what this is about; you have to consider it may be just another tweet in the wind.

ISIS in Syria are not a threat anymore and do you want to escalate chances of the US and Russia getting into a shooting war? The US already killed 200 Russians when do you think Russian might shoot back.

Looks like Putin snapped his fingers again and made trump his bitch yet again...

Trump orders rapid withdrawal from Syria in apparent reversal

Planning is underway for a "full" and "rapid" withdrawal of US troops from Syria, a US defense official told CNN Wednesday.

The decision, which would be a reversal from previously stated US policy, was made by President Donald Trump, who has long signaled his desire to get out of Syria, the official added. On Wednesday morning, the President tweeted, "we have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency."

It's crazy how he made a prerecorded video and refuses to take questions. He will not offer an explanation, other than the Trumpian, we won, type of statement.

He is against the wall in investigations and worried about impeachment, then does this. He is so desperate, but wtf does Putin have on him. This has to be treason.

The next president can come back and reverse all the sanctions he lifted on Russia. I hope Trump and Putin get fully exposed for this.

Isn't it amazing... NOW THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT ISIS. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can a withdrawal from Afghanistan be far behind?
