Time for the 25th Ammendment

I’m not gonna bother to read through this read . I’m only using it to say that even though I voted for Trump I now believe he must go. Either through impeachment or via the 25th. I would prefer that he resigns.

On paper. In the real world I wouldn’t hold my breath. And again even with what happened today you probably don’t enough Republican votes.
You might be right about the Republican votes, but I'd like to make them put their cowardice and lack of patriotism on the public record once again.

Less severe than expulsion, a censure (sometimes referred to as condemnation or denouncement) does not remove a leader from office. It is a formal statement of disapproval, however, that can have a powerful psychological effect on a member and his/her relationships in the political body. This would be an easier avenue than envoking the 25th amendment or impeachment.
Sure, a censure is easier. It's also completely toothless, and therefore pointless. It's almost worse than doing nothing.

He needs to be removed from office immediately. No more pardons, no invite to the Inauguration, no more Tweets telling insurgents how much he loves them, no more holding office, no option for him to spend the next four years playing at running again.

Trump needs to be impeached. Not removed via the 25th Amendment.

If Pence tries to invoke the 25th Amendment, Trump can just object, and it goes to Congress. As long as Congress is involved, from a practical perspective, you might as well impeach him.

Removal via impeachment also prevents Trump from holding office again.

First, there isn't time to impeach him. I wish there was because doing that would, as you pointed out, he would never be able to hold office again. Second, there are a bunch of his bootlickers still in the Senate who will never convict him. The 25th amendment is the only way, and it needs to be invoked immediately.

No doubt Trump is unhinged and not fit to be President, he is not an honorable man, he's dangerous.

It would also be completely ineffective.

They could do it in a day or two, if they wanted.

There's a lot less today than there were yesterday.

Executing the 25th Amendment will actually be more difficult and will take the same amount of time. Pence and the Cabinet can't just remove him in five minutes. If they agree that the President is incapacitated, then the President can provide "his written declaration that no inability exists" and resumes control. The request then goes to Congress, where 2/3 of the House and 2/3 of the Senate have to agree that he's incapacitated.

Impeachment requires a majority in the House, then a removal vote by 2/3 of the Senate.

BTW has anyone heard from Lindsey Graham? Trump's golf buddy seems awfully silent. Maybe he soiled himself in the capitol building the other day and is too embarrassed to speak up.

Doesn't impeachment require evidence to be collected, witnesses etc? I am in favor of whatever means to remove him is the most expeditious. I still can't see the Senate voting to convict or remove him.

The relativity of communism is joke especially here in the US. Move to Cuba or Viet Nam.
Wherever you live, whatever you do, the end of capitalism is inevitable. The main thing is, that he could take all of humanity with him to his grave, as Hitler would have done, if he had had the opportunity. Unfortunately for humanity, capitalism has such a possibility. That's why it's deadly.

Lindsey spoke last night during the debate over the Arizona elector slate. He opposed Trump and Hawley like the good weather vane he is. He recognized that Trump's power is waning, so he's ready to turn.

They have Trump's tweets and the video of him urging his mob onto the capital.

Yea, there is literally no time for any of that to occur. He would/will be gone before anything of substance occured. In theory, the house could vote on articles of impeachment then immediately pass to the senate for trial. But holding a trial on one or two days notice would create due process issues that Trump could theoretically litigate after removal. Just not worth the effort.

Censure is pointless as it does not remove him and really only affects those who may have a political future. He does not.

As for the 25th, yes it would be appropriate to invoke but given that his cabinet is made up of lackeys, toadies and stooges, its not going to happen.

How many of those traitors is the jackass going to pardon before he leaves office? Besides himself and his family I mean. I don't think that Pence would pardon him if he resigned early, not any more. The jackass threw Pence under the bus.

This is the woman who was shot by Capital police. Can't say as I feel sorry for her. She was a traitor.

The woman was 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, a California native and Air Force veteran, her former husband told The Washington Post. Before her death in the Capitol, she had used her social media to express fervent support for President Trump and echo many of the president’s conspiracy theories and false claims of mass voter fraud.

too late, they simply have to refuse all orders from Trump and let Pence act as President... off the books as it were.

That would be wrong too. The president is still the president, even if the president is a jackass. He has to be removed first.

Trump should just be arrested and deposed at this point.

Whether as a bargaining chip to cut himself a pardon or just flailing rage at losing, Trump seems determined to burn the place down in his final couple of weeks. He never did his job anyway; he stopped even pretending a few months ago and won't even pretend to pretend since the election. Instead he seems intent on abandoning his oath office, shredding the constitution, whipping up angry mobs, violating the rule of law and everything else all the way to the end and beyond.

The best solution for an orderly transition of power now is to let Pence steer it home. He should have pissed off and done that the day after he lost frankly.

He is not a jackass, he is a security risk.

I think it's been going on for a while now. At least since last summer when the President contracted Covid. I think when the history of the last 5-6 months comes out and people on the inside can talk freely, we're all going to be amazed at the depths that President Trump has lost touch with reality. What we saw yesterday with the National Guard mobilization was just the curtain being lifted for a moment.

I agree.

Those two are not mutually exclusive. I could think of a few other words that fit him too: subhuman animal, traitor, bigot, liar etc.
Thirteen more days.

Good for you for saying that. Trump does not have the honor to resign, so one of the other two options will be perused.
