Time for the 25th Ammendment

so it is silly for the left to assume a total victory.
Really? Is there a partial victory in an election? How do you come up with this crap?

A battle won, but not the war.
Only in the minds of the Trump ass kissing morons. There is no war or battle. There was an election and the assholes LOST. Now you can either go on with your meaningless lives and learn from from that, or not.

As I wrote, I don’t really care if you stay or if you leave. By staying you have essentially decided that this country is a good place to be, warts and all. Sure it could be better. But the jackass isn’t the answer. He is a pathological liar, a bigot, a racist, a misogenist, and hypocrit. You want your message to be acceptable to the 80m+ people who didn’t vote for him, find a better candidate. The problem isn’t the conservative message-it the jackass we have for a president for the next ten days.

First off, I didn't vote for Donald Trump. Not in 2016 or in 2020. He would not have been my first choice in 2016 for the Republican candidate, but due to a very WEAK field of choices, it ended up like it did. But the part people like you continue to miss, is that for most of the Republicans and Independents who voted for Trump in 2016, it was actually a vote against what half or America considered a WORSE choice, and that was Hillary. I am on record for saying that in 2016 that had the Democratic candidate been Joe Biden then you would have won.

But don't assume for a minute that every Republican who voted for Trump didn't hate his stupid comments. But in 2016 Hillary Clinton's SHARP move to the left, probably to attempt mollify the pissed off Bernie Sanders supporters, had the effect of moving many voters to Trump. I said this 4 years ago, and still believe it. So, if you want to explain how we got Donald Trump, you have to blame Hillary and the DNC for that.

Whether or not he committed a crime by inciting a seditious riot will be up to the courts to decide-not you or me.

Do you understand that in this case "the court" would be the Senate, which would require a 2/3 majority vote to convict Trump? All I am suggesting is that since that won't happen anyway, then just like the prior Impeachment effort to remove Trump would not have happened anyway, then all it becomes is distraction and prevents us from moving on. It may be a political grandstanding ploy (similar to some Republicans and their silly effort to claim a halting of the Electoral certification), but Trump will be out anyway in a few days, so just leave it alone. If the votes would not be there anyway to remove him, then don't waste the time.

Not sure how old you are, but in 1974 when Richard Nixon resigned after his impeachment, it was because Republicans in the Senate (where Dems had the majority but not a super-majority) came to Nixon and informed him that there were enough Republicans in the Senate willing to vote for removal to surpass the 2/3ds threshold, therefore Nixon had no choice but to resign or else be removed.

But here today, that isn't the case, and most Republicans figure just let him leave and we will have Joe Biden in a few days, and then lets move forward as a country.

Why make this more of a mess than it already is? Biden IS the elected President. Let's move forward. I don't believe even Joe Biden wants to have that fight in the Senate right now to make more wounds. I think Biden will want to hit the ground running, so he will need Republicans in the Senate to help him with that, so why twist the knife now if it isn't necessary?

All of this impeachment is just political bluster, and doesn't serve anyone---- well other than politicians playing to their INDIVIDUAL bases back home.

For my part he crossed the line. Even his allies are deserting him now. Members of his own party are calling for him to resign.

Two my knowledge only two Republican senators have called for that, and that would not be enough. The rest are just going to hunker down and figure the clock is run out for Trump anyway.

He is a sub-human animal that I would love to see sent to a different planet.

I will point out that is that kind of language which is the problem. "Sub human" really????? That is how Nazis would speak. To declare anyone less than human is to then open the door to any kind of abuse. We don't do that, it is wrong. When people called Obama "sub human" it was wrong too. If we continue to take these positions, then every 4 years will end up like last year.

His day in court will come.

You can claim that, but it just sets people up for false expectations. The same way Trump set some people up for false expectations last week-- and we saw what happened.

I prefer to deal in realities. If you can't PROVE something, it doesn't mean it may not have happened. But if you can't prove it, then you won't win in court. Any prosecuting district attorney could tell you that.

We will see about his guilt or innocence. Unless he is pardoned once he leaves office he can be charged with crimes like inciting a riot and sedition like any other citizen. Then its up to the courts and not the senate to decide his guilt or his innocence.
If I am him I take my chances in the senate.
Btw- I agree about HRC. Neither candidate in 2016 was remotely acceptable. Clinton was the least objectionable candidate for me.

Being charged and guilt being proven are two different things. There was NOTHING he said last week in DC that wasn't 1st Amendment protected speech. Only a fool would bring charges which have zero chance to be proven.

First off, there isn't even enough time left to impeach Donald Trump. By the time that process could play out and come back to the senate for a trial, Joe Biden will have already been sworn in as the new President. And since the constitution provides rules for impeachment, trial, and removal of a SITTING PRESIDENT, this entire exercise in futility stupidity is just a waste of time.

Then its up to the courts and not the senate to decide his guilt or his innocence.

Which courts? A criminal court?

Good luck with that. Even if it were to happen with some dumb jurors and corrupt DA, it would get reversed on appeal anyway. So again, a waste of time and to what end?
No crime was committed regarding his speech. They would need to find something else to charge him with.

It isn't that it matters to me personally about Donald Trump, but what matters is a frivolous distraction driven by partisan politics which will be bad for the country at a very perilous time.
Dems have control of the government, now they should concentrate full steam going forward with all of the things they have promised. So, unless this about them putting up a smoke screen because they feel they can't deliver, or don't have the mandate to deliver, then how cynical would that be?

Can't we both agree that just on the subject of defeating covid, that we deseperatly need our government and BOTH parties working together to defeat this thing? We can all understand how election year politics distracted from the two parties working together, each with the goal of making the other look bad in order to gain, or retain power. But the election is over now, lets move on. Trump will NEVER get elected again. And if I were you, or a Democrat, I would just leave him alone; chances are more that he would harm the Republican party more than anyone else at this point. If Trump were to launch a 3rd party, that just make every election easier in the future for Democrats. The same reason Democrats feared Sanders and similar breaking off into a 3rd party. Popular 3rd party challengers ALWAYS hurt the party they are most closely to on the politcal spectrum. Ross Perot was why Bill Clinton beat H.W. Bush, and Ralph Nader is why G.W. Bush beat Al Gore.

If I am him I take my chances in the senate.

It would take a 2/3 super majority to convict him. The votes aren't there. Even some Dems would not go along. Some will say lets just move forward. And some will say that because that would earn them points depending on the nature of their state constituents. Not all Democrat Senators are from Blue states.

Btw- I agree about HRC. Neither candidate in 2016 was remotely acceptable. Clinton was the least objectionable candidate for me.

Fair enough, and I appreciate the candor. But just remember, half of the country felt the same way about Trump. That is the beauty of a democracy.
