Well, I can't tell you too much about those I know who have graduated/retired from Stateville.
I have it on pretty good authority how those bruthas feel, in and out.
You wouldn't like the direction I'd go.
I guess I'm naive, but their talk of W. Peyton hurt a little.

Don't look like you can tell me about the South, West, East, and North Side of the City either. That would be those neighborhoods where you can't walk around in.

I am not sure how to take your comment.

Are you saying every Native American has said he is offended by the name? I haven't heard a sizeable amount of people saying anything about this subject, and if you look for it I think you can find many Native Americans saying they have no problem with the name.

The U.S. Army names all of their helicopters after American Indian tribes.

The usual suspects, the political left and AIM whined and complained but back then most Americans sided with the Army.

I'm waiting for when the political left along with PETA are going to start complaining that Grumman Northrop name their planes after cats.

And Bush junior was as bad at MLB owner as he was that other job he had.
So bad, MLB had to come in and take over the darn team, making them what they are now.
MLB favoring N. Ryan over M. Cuban and giving him a billion or so in the last few years.
Over 120 million just to talk to Japan's team that owned Yu Darvish.
Well Bush Junior was into baseball.....one would think. Being the owner of team.

Should the Washington Redskin Owner Change the Name? If this was such a problem wouldn't all Native Americans be all up into this issue?

One needn't be Native American to object to labeling a group by skin color.

Well.....you can expect that to change then. Can't have Machines dealing death and destruction representing a whole group of people now. Lets just hope they don't start naming planes and Such with the names of Politicians.

Ooops I forgot about those Floating Towns. :2razz:

That's true.....but then do you think one group of Native Americans should be speaking for all others in their representation when they weren't tasked to do so?

Remember when the University of Illinois retired Chief Illiniwek in 2007?

Any member of a group is free to voice offense, as is anyone else. Not everyone is so offended but the reasoning behind the offense is unarguable.

Obviously, the name 'Redskins' is offensive. Just ask any Native- you'll probably have to ask because they wouldn't say so otherwise. My wife is Metis and I have Native friends and inlaws and they mostly just shake their heads about stuff like that, it being in their nature to ignore the rudeness until they're asked. Maybe that's why it's been tolerated so long.

Should one group of _______ speak for all __________.
Such as our current "slimdown".

Got any links that Bush a partner in an ownership of a baseball team was a bad owner? Anything at all to support that Bush dealt with any decisions with the team and the daily operations?

Btw from an unscientific poll.

Should the Washington Redskins change their name?

Yes........No
39% vs 61%

I don't see how claiming that only a small part of a group is offended changes the reality of labeling by skin color.

That's the best response for the weekend.

I supported naming the Navy's new maternity ward ships the USS Hillary Clinton but Bill killed that new class of ship during his downsizing of the Navy during the 90's.

So would you base that on.....that just one person being offended is justified?

Not the same, is it, Apache and Redskin. Kinda like Zulu and N*gger.

Most intelligent righties don't resort to that game.

It's justified by good reason. The number of people offended is irrelevant. The owner is stupid to be all "NEVER". The name will change. There will be a time when we say "back when Washington was named after a skin color". The sooner the better. The owner should embrace enlightenment and change the name.

If the Native Indian is so respected by you, why do you suppose they were driven to extinction and genocide, like their fellow Buffaloes.
They were treated like animals. I'm sure you're aware of the "Trail of Tears".
There was a time the Indian Casinos wouldn't take the $20 bill.

The Kansas City Chiefs have gone through this before.
Maybe being a RED area in the Nation politically stopped that.
I'm sure there's much more for you to defend in other Professional sports.
That's true.....but then do you think one group of Native Americans should be speaking for all others in their representation when they weren't tasked to do so?

I'm going to go a step further than Obama, and say they should change it. It's disrespectful to native Americans, and the least we could do is show them some respect now.

Most intelligent righties don't resort to that game.

Oh really.....sounds like you just couldn't handle the call out. Hows that intelligence of yours working with that?

washington had to change another infamous name, the Bullets NBA.

No call out.
No sense.
Governor and owner in the 90's.
I'll let your own team help you here, I'm not bailing you.

For the record my best friend is pure blood Native American. And she thinks all this is BS.

Maybe we should reinstitute the Washington Bullets.
Imagine some of their uniforms and insignias.
They could be the Washington NRAs for a night, though Northern Idaho Aryans also comes to mind.
How about the Washington Semi-automatics.
