And if you are wondering why I had the word expulsion in my thoughts, it is because Zimmerman was recently expelled from Seminole State College.

I think there is more to this story than we know. It seems rather absurd, on its face. Who, with knowledge of SYG and hate crime law would think this an opportunity to murder-for-race? For SYG, there needs to be a forcible felony, or at least a reasonable possibility of such. There's no way the shooter thought this would fly, rationally, given what's known. Perhaps the government is preparing a hate crime charge, which requires specific evidence. Perhaps they were not strangers, which would complicate that charge's viability.

If he had mumbled "GD f...king n....r" under his breathe that changes nothing in regards to the criminal case. If using what are called racial, religious, ethnic, gender, social status and economic status was criminal, I would guess that over 90% of the population would be in prison, including virtually all African-Americans and all liberal Democrats.

Hate crime conviction requires evidence of the accused having such publication material in their possession (and/or being in such a group) and race must be the main/overriding motive of the crime. Saying crap during does not qualify as a hate crime; the possession of said material is required and not always easy to establish.

I haven't watched any videos or listened to any audio, but perhaps the shooter had cause. That seems unlikely given the current media-storm.

It might not change anything with regards to his legal case, but it makes look like a racist.

The only race angle in this story should be that of how the race baiters like Sharpton are stirring it up, seeing as Zimmerman is Hispanic.

the reality is that if the Al Sharptons of this world had NOT gotten involved and the community rose up in protest, this whole thing would have been swept under the rug.
 
Since Sharpton represents minorities, I wonder how many Hispanics or Asians he has marched or protested for..

I’m suggesting that the Florida SYGL be followed and used as it’s obviously intended. You can tell how much the state wants to be involved in things like the killing of Martin by Zimmerman by the fact that they came up with the SYGL. The SYGL allowed for and intended a very cursory low cost investigation in this case. It was only when outside trouble makers got involved that people in the country of Florida had to do what they didn’t want to do. The way the SYGL is written allows people to right wrongs without it costing Florida very much. Again, note that w/o the SYGL, Zimmerman would have had to be arrested, more tests run, a much larger investigation, probably a trial, a small possibility of a jail sentence, etc., all costing big bucks. I personally don’t want Zimmerman shot; I’m just suggesting that the law be followed to its logical conclusion in this case. My guess is that Zimmerman will continue his behavior and Florida has made the implicit directive with the SYGL that he be shot, I’m just writing it down. Remember, I’m Oh,Isee,Then.

and according to Zimmerman, Martin was a "****ing punk"...or possibly a "****ing coon".

thats why he shot & killed Martin.

so, are you rulling out the possibility that zimmerman was telling the truth
that he was assaulted by the kid and when getting beat up, shot the young man in self defense

his comments on the 911 call, make it highly likely that his statement to the police is just a cover story.

Well, not so much...This seems to have gotten traction due in large part to outcry online through petitions and such. The Sharpton's of the world wait to see if there is a story that can get them the face time they desire, then they go down, not the other way around.

I have no indication that it wasn't, only that it was. How could a legislature, a Governor, the NRA be wrong.
It was not a mistake. It was done on purpose with intent. You'd have to be stupid to not expect the law to be used as it was written.

I think all the discussion about what the details of Zimmerman shooting Martin is pointless.
It's the SYGL that is the root cause of everything in this thread. Nothing else matters much.
I'd like to live in a country where a SYGL wouldn't result in what it obviously will,
oh, wait, I do.

Well, people on the outside are now watching and asking questions about the authors.
The authors can say it doesn't apply, but I'm certain that a lawyer for Zimmerman will use it successfully.
The police were certainly applying it as intended.
