The problem is, it isn't off topic, it's a fundamental issue that a lot of people don't want to talk about. What would have happened if Revolutionary-era Americans had decided we were unhappy with British rule and had just run to someone else to protect us, rather than standing up and fighting, and for a lot of them, dying, for something they believed in? We'd still be a British colony. But instead of whining and crying that you don't have a perfect life and wanting someone else to make it all better, people need to get off their fat asses, stand on their own two feet and MAKE IT BETTER! It's why there's an economic migrant crisis. People want things, but they don't want to have to work hard to get those things. They don't want to have to fight to achieve those things. Because it's easier to go to people who have fought for them and demand they get a slice of the pie too.
What would have happened in Mexico if, for the last couple of generations, the people who are now fighting to get into America had just said "enough is enough" and done something about the cartels and the corrupt government? They'd be an economic powerhouse. But no, it's easier to stick your hand out and be lazy and expect others to do all the hard work for you. Liberals are fine with that. Conservatives are not.
