Who won the Vice Presidential debate?

Who won?

  • Kamala Harris

  • Mike Pence

  • Tie

  • Neither

  • Susan Page

  • The fly

Results are only viewable after voting.
Both are boring, lying, robots. This won't change a single vote. No one won.

Harris. She was much more upbeat, energetic, and patient. Pence almost always overran his time, interrupted much more often, and looked mostly annoyed.

Pence played is weak hand reasonably well. Of course, that included the usual Pence MO of never answering the question. That said, the Pence/Trump hand is very weak. He just lacked to cards to move their interests forward.

What Pence did wrong, however, is that he also refused to adhere to the rules. Doing that when you interrupt a woman or steal her time or always insist on the last word will not play well to the college educated suburban white woman that have already left Trump. This will do nothing to bring them back.

Since time is running out, a good drive that falls short of a score is a win for the team that is ahead. Team Trump once again screwed up an opportunity to get back into the race. Advantage: Harris/Biden.

Tonight's moderator was a step down from Chris Wallace, who at least would call a candidate out when they did not answer the question.

Pence did slightly better in performance, as he had a lot of landmines that could have got him, but he pretty much dodged them all - which was no mean feat

However while Harris didn't perform that highly in terms of actual debate performance, she did exactly what she had to do - she didn't do anything to jeopardize Biden's lead!

So in terms of the election, Harris won. Pence didn't lay a glove on her, and their time is running out. Every time Pence or Trump play to a draw, they lose in terms of prevailing in the election. They've got to do something to change the trajectory, and they're failing in doing it.

I think Pence won, but barely. Her smug face and whiney voice did not help her chances for new folks seeing her for the first time.

As painful as it was, I voted Pence but only by a slight margin.

Perhaps my influence is an expectation that a prosecutor / senator would be more prepared to answer some of those questions and challenges by Pence but all too often Harris seemed unsure and flustered. Not a the performance needed to night.

And that is with Pence not really wanting to answer the questions thrown his way but talk about whatever the hell else he wanted to.

Both got a C ('ish) score in my opinion but Pence was just enough better to "win" that debate.

I thought Pense looked like a fanboy of Trumps, and that fly, I think was a sign of death to come. It was catching my attention more than the debate so I gave it my vote. :)

I picked Pence, just for technically winning the debate. Harris should have fought harder and stolen time like Pence did.

Regarding Pence's facts or claims about the trump administration's performance - total fiction. I wish Harris had another debate.

I agree. I don't think this was Page's intention, but Pence clearly was given more leeway than Harris.

I mean, if that wins you a debate then Trump won the last debate overwhelmingly.

<sigh> You know there's a mile long distance between Harris standing her ground and fighting a little harder vs. "acting like trump".

She did steal time. She combated the moderator on it. But your argument seems to be: 'Pence did it more often, so he wins.' 🤷

The next time they have a debate - if ever again - the moderator should be somebody who can kick the crap out of any loudmouth who tries to pull the speaking well beyond your time that Pence pulled. Give the moderator a ball bat with a nine inch nail protruding from the thick end of it and let them go to town on the first offender. Law and order will be quickly restored.

As to who won - I would rate it a tie and as Chomsky wisely pointed out Pence needed a knockout and did not get it.

I loved that fly. Harris should have looked at Page and said 'are you gonna tell him or should I?'.

Her attacks on trump's record could have been more substantive.

Smug face and whiney voice 🤣
I just watched Donald Trump spend most of the last debate doing just that.

Well, I voted for "the fly".

However, both Pence and Harris did exactly what they needed to do. Pence carried on Trump's lies, performed well, and pleased his boss. Harris treaded that line females, especially females of color, have to straddle between being too strong/forceful/aggressive and being labeled a bitch, and maintaining a calm, confident demeanor that showed most voters she was competent and capable of being president, if it came to that.

It was pretty much a tie, IMO. Harris had the advantage going in because Biden's poll numbers have spiked, so her first objective was "do no harm"; Pence's objectives were "don't contradict Trump and control the message."

They both did their jobs well tonight.

I only saw a couple minutes, so I don't feel entitled to vote, but in the part I saw Pence was much more effective. Not that I like that result.
