Wealthy, upper class and I never tell the truth on polls.

Household wise we are upper middle - alone I would be lower middle.
Both of us attended a university, neither obtained a degree.
We are republicans and voted for Romney.

Lower Middle Class I
Voted against the incumbent
just like last election.

Somewhere between lower and upper middle class.

Obama. Liberal.

I guess the current definition of wealthy ( earnings over 250k) puts me into the capitalist class/ wealthy.... and I'm a Libertarian.

Yeah, there really should be-- there's people who can afford to pay a tenth of their income, and people who can afford to live off a tenth of their income.

I'm just saying... if your parents can afford to put three children through college on their own, they're wealthy.

depends on where the kids go to college....if they live at home and go to state owned college, $5K a year per child is about what it costs in Utah. that is easily done by ordinary people, if they plan ahead...

First, refer to this image:

I am democrat, voted for Obama, I fall under lower middle class smack dab in the middle of it making my situation better than roughly 54% of Americans.

Is this one of those idiotic republicans are for the rich and democrats are for the poor idiotic polls despite the fact democrats are just as rich as republicans and toss the salad of businesses just as much as republicans do?

I started off in the lower class as a child and made it to upper-middle by earning graduate degrees in math and computer science. I'm a Republican for many reasons. From the perspective of logic, it makes no sense to have people vote on something they don't comprehend well. Just like how three kids would outvote their parents for pizza every day, many people vote to enjoy today without understanding the long-term consequences. Similarly, if you continually wipe a kid's butt for them then they'll grow to make the excuse that their arm isn't as long as mommy's or daddy's to have you keep wiping it for them. Based on the trek on I made, I don't have much respect for those who want to be babied. I'd be happy to go on, but I have to step away for an hour to tutor one of my students.

I put lower middle because I was fired earlier this month, and have decided to work for myself, instead. There is no income yet.

Capitalist class? Really?

Working below poverty surviving only on my small checks and the money I had saved before the economic collapse. Voted for Gary Johnson.

Amen - people keep voting for the big two as if they're going to change something - they aint gonna change jack ****.

Exactly. I believe that anybody that thought Obama/Romney was the best choice was just simply not informed.

Okay, personal disclosure time.

Currently I would be placed in the upper middle bracket, income- and education-wise. My wife and I are 28 years old, both have graduate degrees, licensed in our professions, both employed full time, own our home outright, share one 11-year old vehicle that we own, have $0.00 of debt total, have no children or pets at this time, collect our own water by gravity/cistern, primarily heat our home by wood stove, have 2.3 wooded acres across from the ocean, and our only utilities are electric, garbage and internet. Because of this somewhat rare situation we're in right now, in many ways we feel like we're upper class even though we do not earn the incomes that are nominally considered upper class nor have a lifestyle that in any way appears luxurious (our home is small and simple, car is old, etc.). We feel fortunate and thankful but we also very consciously chose this minimalist, debt-averse strategy and have deferred gratification of a lot of things to be able to get where we are. We also remind ourselves that, just as we have been fortunate, things could happen that would make us unfortunate, and so we try to think about and prepare for "turns for the worse" so as not to plunge too far into a victim mindset if that happens. A lot of our choices are rooted in a deep desire to be independent and to be able to earn less money without having to make major changes to our quality of life.

My wife votes Democrat for President as a lesser of two evils because Republicans strike her as exceedingly stupid, corrupt and/or insincere, and I can't argue with that much. On the other hand she questions Democrats' spending and monetary policies. I have long been extremely disenchanted with both major parties at the federal level so I will either vote for a third party or not at all before I would vote for a presidential candidate I do not genuinely support. I have voted Republican at the state level in the past. As my lean indicates, I would be most accurately described as libertarian.

I guess "capitalist class." I own my own farm and do woodwork and other random things. I'm libertarian.

No these numbers are based off of the most popular socioeconomic theories and hence why there is such wide gaps in income in each. This is also made in order to compensate for different cost of living in different areas.

Libertarian + Farm + "random things"=Moonshiner?

 take it for what it's worth - but I would recommend buying against a new car unless you are otherwise debt free and can pay for it in cash. Even then, buying brand new is like taking 25K and investing it in a stock that you know is going to lose 2/3rds of it's value over the next three years. Unless you can afford that kind of loss.....

I have greatly weighed the pros and cons in it and actually am relatively close to being debt free other than student loan. The pros include warranties, better insurance rates, mpg, and typically excellent resale value. Besides that I plan on paying for at least half up front, and having a piece of mind that parts in it I made out of raw materials and it was produced in Kentucky helping people I know out on a great top rated economically good car.

Intellectual class and independent.

If you want to know what the resale value is, take a look at the same model from 2009. The difference between the price of the vehicle you are about to purchase and the blue book worth of that vehicle is the loss you will take on the resale. You will notice that the amount is likely greater than any savings on MPG, and I would argue, is significantly greater than the worth of the warranty. There is a reason they sell you warranties - they make a killing off of them.

In addition, if you still have debt, the last thing you need to be doing is loading yourself up with more, man. I mean it's your life and all, but you're a good dude - don't screw yourself over on this deal.

This isn't my definition. This is how economist and such term it. Here is more info on these defintions: Social class in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That link just takes me to a search bar at the top of a blank page telling me to type in something.

Regardless, there is nothing to be gained from calling the rich the capitalist class as if capitalism only benefits the rich.

I also want to mention that someone like myself has no where to vote in your poll.

Yeah other than student loan debt I am making sure all revolving debt is paid down first. Might not quite be 2013 at this point perhaps a 2014 in a year or so. My financial situation as well as my wife's income has gotten increasingly better the past two years and seems like it will continue even more in the next year thanks to our daughter getting older and taking her to daycare. I'm actually more stressed about spending $5000 a year in daycare cost than anything.

also yeah my luck with used cars had always been bad.

I decided not to vote.
My family is considered middle middle class i guess
And im a student so maybe lower class?

But im a democratic socialist who voted for Obama.
