Two 13-year-olds shot while trying to steal car in Southwest Philadelphia: Police

Is it worth shooting 2 people to protect?
I don't think it is no matter how nice it is.
Some things are not replaceable. Dollar value does not matter to some people. What about family heirlooms?

I'm sorry, but as far as I care, those who intentionally do harm to other people in society do not belong in society.

Period.

The scum deserves to be flushed down the sewer.

I'm glad you calmed down. And if you dont want to debate what I wrote, you still dont have to. If you dont want firearms removed from law-abiding citizens, then no problem.
Thanks for your persistence in attempts at clarity. I'm always calm, though sometimes my language doesn't show it. I grew up on the streets of NYC, so I tend to use salty language. When I'm tired, it isn't worth peppering every word I write with smiling emojis. ☺️

Not only have I never advocated taking anybody's guns away, I have even often warned against the dangers of doing just that. It will get a lot of citizens AND law enforcement killed! Bad idea.

I grew up with guns. My father shot competitively for his entire 22 years in the army, and I shot with him on those rare occasions when I lived near a base where he was stationed. He had enough medals and trophies for shooting to fill an entire room of the house. Even as a young teen, I was able to handle a regular service .45-1911. I was, and still am, a big lad. Later in life - my mid-20's - I shot skeet every month at Thunder Mountain, Ringwood NJ, with a group of friends from work. The only reasons I don't currently own a firearm are 1) I've never felt I needed one for personal protections, and 2) without some pretext, I live in a difficult city to get one legally, so I've never bothered.

I fully understand people who are fearful or paranoid, thinking they need a gun for personal protection - most especially if they have families they feel they have to protect. I may not agree with them, but I don't judge them. I don't have any wife and kids at home to worry about, and I've never worried about myself, even though I'm a White man who moved here to Harlem 18 years ago when I was one of only a handful of White people on my populated urban block. I've always shown respect to all my neighbors, I've always gotten the same in return, and I have dozens of friends here of every possible big city demographic. I'm sure you can imagine.

All that said, I am very much in favor of gun control efforts, most especially things that keep them out of the hands of felons, those who are too young, those with records of spousal abuse, those unable to safely handle them, etc. etc., so I will often chime in on threads where comments come from posters who mindlessly oppose any type of gun control, no matter how sane and well-thought out it may be, including long waiting periods and background checks for first time owners.

Be safe my friend ...
😎

TL;dr

You seem to have an extremely low value on a human life.

Thank you for that. It spares me ever having to explain myself to you the next time you wrongly accuse me of anything.

No one asked you for an explanation. If you didnt want to directly debate something, that's really all you need to acknowledge. Or not even that.

I place those who would intentionally harm others at zero value.

They were stealing a car?
I also don't agree with capital punishment for any crime and certainly not by the police.

Why are you standing up for low-lifes? they deserve no mercy. Those who prey upon others need to be removed from society. The police do catch and release, so if they get shot. Nobody loses.

Tell you what. They can have house arrest at your place. You can take care of them.

Why do you want 13 year olds who steal a car to get shot?
I only hope you have zero say in the justice system.

They had a gun. I would shoot also.

I take it you don't want me on your jury, with your love of criminals.

With that sort of attitude I don't think you deserve to be on any jury.
I have done jury duty and you have to be impartial and I don't think you can be.

Also isn't it part of the constitution to be allowed to have a gun?
Does any criminal who just happens to have a gun on them deserve to be shot?

Has the gun the teens supposedly had ever been located? As far as reporting goes, it has never been found, and the shooter is the only one to have seen it?

In the end, it does not matter much. It will become an argument in court, but no evidence either way if not found.

So, you're fine with kids being shot over the possibility of a gun?

No wonder US prisons are so full if people like you have any say.
Are you by any chance a Christian?

In my mind it kind of matters. If the car stealers actually pulled a gun that would justify a shooting. Without that it is hard to defend that action.

All criminals are scum who deserve no mercy.
Those are his words.

Yeah, he tends to bloviate.

Apparently me not wanting to see kids get shot for stealing cars makes me a dangerous hippy.
Somehow police in the UK manage without guns and thus the ability to shoot people for minor crimes.

This may be true to the majority viewpoint. It is possible it was a false claim, but you know what... No way to prove otherwise either.

Stop lying. Those were not my words. I specified those who intentionally do harm to others.

You're the guy who thinks shooting kids for stealing a car is fine.

Good to know your unwavering support for the shooter. He can claim there was a gun....there's no gun found....but you can't prove there wasn't one.

Don't do the crime then.

If a gun was pulled on me, then I'd have no problem taking out my own and pulling the trigger, given the chance. But that totally belies the point I was making. Auto theft is not a capital offense.
So the guy should have just let the kids steal his car?
