Washington (CNN)A holiday government shutdown appeared more likely on Thursday after President Donald Trump informed House Republicans he would refuse to accept a stop-gap measure -- already passed by the Senate -- that doesn't include funds for his long-promised border wall.

What was once a deal to avoid a Christmas partial shutdown was torpedoed Thursday by conservatives and Trump, who unleashed fury at another agreement that stops short of providing the $5 billion the President has demanded for the border.

Government leadership by an infant. Probably based this decision on Fox & Friends this AM.

Excellent. Let the fight begin. About damn time.

Great. 57% of Americans do not support funding Trumps Wall.

Trump said he would own this shutdown, and he certainly will.

"Keep our borders open to all or we're going to blame you for shutting down the government!"

"No National Security!"

"Hey! This is voter suppression because those illegals are tomorrow's Democrats!"

Trump says the border is secure. Are you calling him a liar?

Can you source any of these quotes?

From what I read, the Senate version lacked support in the House and would go down in flames. So, since it wasn't going to happen anyway, Trump seized on the moment and reinstated his original position. Either way, it wasn't going to work out. Trump told the nation he would take the heat and he took it instead of letting the House take it. You have to give him credit for that. Of course the media will all be blasting away that it was all Trump's fault.

Except no Dem in congress currently has said that so all your comments are dishonest. Are Dishonest posts the only ones you are capable of writing?

I also would like to see some sources showing anyone of importance saying anything even remotely similar to the above.

Why do people post that stupid stuff?

The "illegals" can't vote. That's a fact.

And by the way, Trump said this was his shutdown, so the blame is his and his alone. Anyone with a brain heard him say it and doesn't need anyone to tell them to blame him. He took the blame already.

And by the way, nobody is saying "No national security".

But hyperbole is fun, isn't it?

Are these quotes from Rush, or Fox and friends? Cause I don't think any one else is saying it.

I would suggest your last line is very very unfair and demeaning to infants. They at least do not know better and cannot help themselves.

Lutherf had to fabricate quotes because he doesn't have a real argument to make.

And that's why you post such nonsense, because brown voters scare you to the point of pissing yourself huh?

Nevermind illegals can't, and don't vote, pay taxes yet never collect returns nor Social Security. Manufactured outrage is fun huh?

I just want to thank all my fans for validating my presence here. I love you guys and Merry Christmas!

You're concerned about dishonest comments with a sig line such as this;

*-In 2017, conservatives said they were concerned about women being assaulted in bathrooms. In 2018 conservatives showed women they wouldn’t believe them if they were.*

I laughed

Are you implying a lack of a border wall is the same as open borders?

First off, I don't believe that there is a need for 2000 miles of physical wall. There is a need for 2000 miles of secured border. In many areas along that border we can effect security via electronic monitoring and manpower. In areas where a physical wall is both reasonable and practical, we also need manpower. That kind of stuff costs money.

Second, along with securing the border we need to fix some issues with our immigration policy. People who want to come here for work should be allowed to do so at MUCH higher rates than they are allowed now. Their stays should be unaccompanied stints of not more than one year. At the end of their year they either go back and reapply or go back and live happily ever after. This type of program would allow those who wish to become US citizens to get their time in country in LEGALLY. Once they complete the LEGAL portion of their stay they can apply for citizenship...LEGALLY.

Third, just because someone shows up at the border and says "asylum" doesn't mean we have to let them in. Unless there is a really good reason to let them in (such as; their government is an imminent and illegal threat to their life; they are suffering political persecution under a regime that does not allow them legal means to contact the US; etc.) the asylum process should start in their HOME COUNTRY, not the border crossing. If their country is a violent, criminal ****hole that isn't a good enough reason for asylum.

Fourth, an awful lot of this border stuff we're seeing is designed specifically to influence US politics. Why the **** should we allow Democrats to use caravans as "agitprop" when they are simultaneously trying to throw Trump in jail because of Russian "Twitterprop" that they STILL haven't been able to tie back to him?

Trump disagrees, he's going to build a massive, physical, inflexible barrier.

Trump disagrees, immigrants are bad and should be prevented from entering the US, legally or not, seeking work.

What's the difference between a government threatening someone's safety and a government refusing to do something about groups that threaten someone's safety, in terms of need for refuge?

Well, yeah.
