Their argument that the American Revolution was fundamentally about preserving slavery for one.
I am going to challenge you as well, what is false or screwy about what is in 1619 project?
Ironic that he is decrying cancel culture while trying to cancel our existing method of studying historyPresident Trump on Thursday described America’s heritage and history as under assault from the left, decrying anti-racism teachings and "cancel culture" while announcing plans for a new commission to promote "patriotic education" in U.S. schools.
In a speech delivered in somber tones at the National Archives Museum, Trump painted a dramatic and dark portrait of an effort by liberals to “indoctrinate” America’s children and repress American values, culture and faith.
Trump announces commission to further '''patriotic education'''
This is disturbing on multiple levels.
I passed the citizenship test and I did learn that America is a great country, and it is. We are not taught the opposite in American schools or study groups. What you really want is to control the study of history and turn the classroom into state propagandaIt's disturbing to teach kids that The United States is a great country?
a small group of scholars does not equal discrediting...there were even more who declined to sign on to that letter...so what was it 4 people who signed it? What about other scholars that agree with 1619 project? Its been discredited by scholars. It views history through the prism of the critical race theory model - which is a theory cooked up by racist sociologists. So, its discredited BS based on Marxist racist moonbattery of the highest order.
The creator of the 1619 project spends her time on twitter backpedaling and telling people what she *really* meant and having her own statements used to refute her backpedaling.
I'm sure he'll have this up and running about the same time that he releases his healthcare plan.

Kudos to President Trump on his efforts to stop cancel culture and all the other craziness that has gripped this nation since the Dems retook the House.
Sadly, the commission will barely have three months of life.
It is clear that the Dems will win the Executive & Legislative branches, for the leftist media have successfully indoctrinated many Americans into believing that they are bigots if they fail to support the Dem agenda.
Starting in 2021 under the Harris-Biden administration, we may have to kneel at the beginning of each work day, and libraries may be cleared of any books that do not meet the approval of BLM, the DNC, & MSNBC. Needless to say, we ain't seen nothing yet when it comes to Internet censorship.
That’s not exactly what it says. 1619 says preserving slavery was an important reason for some people because of growing anti slavery sentiment in Britain. Perhaps that’s true, perhaps not, but it’s pretty easy to believe that would be a factor for many in the South given that we were subject to British rule.
The initial 1619 project is made up of 100 pages consisting of 10 essays, so true to form conservatives pick out one controversial sentence and claim hat the whole project is bad.

It was one of the elements....was it the primary factor? No, but it was nonetheless central in some of their fears of the crown
Dirty Little Secret
To see the Revolutionary war through the eyes of slaves is to better understand why so many of them fought for the crownwww.smithsonianmag.com
Was the American Revolution Fought to Save Slavery?
African Demands for Freedom During the American Revolutionwww.counterpunch.org
Question, has it ever occurred to you that when we talk about the Revolutionary War there is very little mention of the blacks that served during that war on either side? Do you know their names? Where they came from? Who their families are? What contributions they made? No, you don't...the only thing you hear about is Washington and Jefferson and white founders...hmmm, seems our story of half truth is more of a lie than the truth...why not tell it all instead of part of it?
The worst part is, the 1619 writers knew this. They knew it had no basis in fact. They were told so by the very fact-checker professional historians they consulted on the project, and still included it despite knowing it was bullcrap.Except it really wasn’t a major factor, no matter what the 1619 project pretends. The idea that the Revolution was fought “to save slavery” simply doesn’t have any basis in fact.

We don’t know a lot about them because, given the time period, there simply weren’t a lot of them actually involved in the fighting, and in many cases we don‘t know a whole lot about them that can actually be historically confirmed. That’s just the facts. And you always hear more about the leaders in any war than the common soldiers. How many Roman legionaries can you personally name? How many of Napoleon‘s enlisted troops? How many of the Kaiser’s infantrymen? The idea that it’s a “half truth“ because we hear more about the leaders of the Revolution is silly.
But it was a factor.
And not many people learned that before 1619 came along.
And thats the point.

A few weeks ago, Joe Biden lamented the sorry state of American education. Why, he exclaimed in shock, Americans actually think Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb.
Over the summer, we all saw the absolute ignorance and lack of education of the young rioters and protesters, young millennials and old Gen Z types, as they tore down and defaced statues nationwide. The icing on the cake on their desperate need for an education was the recent survey that these Americans generally don't know what the Holocaust is.
Given a choice between the "patriotic" education of Mr. Trump, or the mumblings from Biden about alleged wrongs done to Lewis Howard Lattimer, its clear the country would be better served by the former and not the latter.

Of course you would think that's what I was referring to...lol
That sounds like a screwy false idea of history and values of humanty to me.The problem is that liberals have a screwy, false idea of the history and values of the Republic. The federal govenment should be out of the business of determining educational content for this very reason.
Can only be advisory as only the states can write ed program content. Trump can always threaten to withhold funds, but doubt He could get away with actually doing so.
It was as much a “factor” as the British granting rights to Catholics in Quebec was.
Trying to pretend that it was the main cause—or even a major cause—simply is historically inaccurate.
There’s no other way to put it.
That's a lovely sentiment, but you assume that they would actually read and understand the Declaration of Independence if given the opportunity. It's more likely that they'd simply continue to pretend they know what it says, just like with the constitution. The Trump administration isn't going to go through with this because if they do then Trump's thuggish, authoritarian, fascist followers will end up learning about the Declaration of Independence and the Enlightenment-era classical liberal ideas embodied in the document, which are inherently anti-fascist.
A great country acknowledges both it’s successes and failures. That is America. Countries like China and Russia hide their failures from the public which is what you are advocating.

And you’re making an argument against Trump’s patriotic education initiativeThe 1619 project only talks of failure and how The United States is "rooted in racism".
You make a good argument for abolising the department of education.
