The Republican Party Must Be Purged Like the Nazis and Fascists

You guys need to chill.
Your paranoia on this issue is amazing.
Then you explain to us why, after the most secure election in American history, suddenly all these measures are needed to "secure the elections?" I'll tell you why -- their people lost in fair-and-square elections. So, they need to change the rules to help them not lose again.

Tell us how making it a crime to give voters food or beverages within 150 feet of the polling places, makes elections safer?
Tell us how cutting down on the number of absentee ballot boxes in black neighborhoods makes elections more secure?
Tell us how shortening the number of days one can vote, or the hours of voting, makes elections more secure?

The Republican Party Must Be Purged Like the Nazis and Fascists

“the GOP is no longer a legitimate political party.
...
The Republican party, however, both behaves and is ideologically most similar to Hungary's Fidesz party, Turkey's AKP party and Poland's PiS party.
All three are, essentially, fascist parties.”
=======

I have to agree with everything in the article. The tactics the fascists use in Hungry and Turkey to maintain power, gerrymandering, voter suppression and controlling the courts is exactly how the Republicans are trying to dominate in the U.S.
Its amazing how retarded people like the author and the retards who agree with that author of that article can say republicans are nazis, fascists or some other untrue thing one second and then the next second scream for gun bans. If those people actually believed those things that the been saying about republicans even before Trump was president then they wouldn't be trying to ban guns and in fact would be trying to repeal every anti-gun law out there.

It seems to have been forgotten that in 2020 there were changes in election laws across the country-- either via legislative actions or via court actions.
They were done in response to concerns about transmitting COVID at the polls (concerns which scientifically were without foundation, as per Mr. Fauci, but I digress).
They were also often TEMPORARY measures, that is to say, nothing that would be in effect after 2020 (such as dropboxes in Georgia)
So election laws were required, by responsible governments to be reviewed to either make changes permanent or to to end what were emergency practices.

So yes, in Georgia, it was always against the law to politick and give gifts to voters on line. This is true in most other states. However, there was some confusions as to what constitutes 'gift giving." So the Georgia legislature, being controlled by Republicans and thus being run by responsible legislators, clarified things.

In Georgia, drop boxes were not legal. They were put in place as an emergency response to Covid. Now they are legal, with appropriate security measures in place.

In Georgia, the days and hours of early voting has been increased. That is simple fact.

That's fine, as long as voters are the ones determining who their elected officials are. The fear is that Republican's in office are taking steps to hold onto power by minority rule. Already the Senate favors minority rule -- Republican Wyoming with about half a million people gets as many Senators as California, with 39 million people. In State legislatures, Republicans in power get to draw the Congressional district lines, and do so to tilt Republican representation in Congress. Now, those legislatures are passing laws to make it harder for mainly Democratic voters to vote.
The House of Representatives is and has always been known as the peoples house. The members there are determined by the population of each state. The house was and is there to represent the people. The senate was designed to represent the states, not the people. Hence you have two senators from each state supposedly representing each state. Although these days, most senators represent their political party and not their state anymore. Remember, we're a union of the several states. I think senators representing their states ended with the passage of the 17th amendment. Prior to that the people of the state elected their state representatives which in turn elected that state's senators. The Senators were beholding to the state legislatures of each state, not to a political party as they are today. Senators loyalty is to their political party and not to the their state or the people of their state which easily can been seen with recent votes by them going against the wishes of the people of their state last year in favor of their political party.

The irony of your manifestly authoritarian solution dawns on you in three ... two ... one ...

Remember...

... the New Jersey Generals (USFL)?
... Trump Casinos?
... Trump Steaks?
... the Trump Shuttle?
... Trump University?

Everything Donald Trump touches invariably turns to crap. He's like a reverse Midas. Not only that, but the longer he holds something, the crappier it seems to get.

If the Republicans want to keep going down that road, that's up to them. They realized what they had to do to stay electorally competitive after the 2012 election... but Trump tore up that playbook. Fair enough. Now you get to be the New Jersey Generals of electoral politics.

The NUMBER of House members is determined by population. That doesn't mean that Congressional districts are drawn to evenly give Democrats and Republicans even numbers. In Republican states, the lines are drawn to pack Democrats into fewer districts and give Republican areas just over 50% majorities, so they take more seats in the state. An AP examination of all U.S. House races in 2018 and about 4,900 state House and Assembly seats up for election last year using a statistical method of calculating partisan advantage that is designed to flag cases of potential political gerrymandering. A similar analysis also showed a GOP advantage in the 2016 elections. The AP’s analysis found North Carolina Republicans won two or three more congressional seats than would have been expected based on their share of the vote. Republican candidates received 51 percent of the two-party vote compared to Democrats’ 49 percent. Yet Republicans won a 9-3 seat advantage over Democrats, with one seat still undecided because of allegations of vote fraud.

Democrats base this entire argument upon voter ID. That's ridiculous given that so much of what we do requires a positive ID. It's propaganda put out by the democrats in their attempt to control the minority vote for their own control of political power.

True, after the 2010 census the Democrats gerrymandered the heck out of Illinois and New York as the Republicans howled. Of course the Republicans did the same to Texas, North Carolina and Pennsylvania while the Democrats ranted and raved. This is truly a case where both parties do it whenever they can. Gerrymandering ought to be outlawed, made illegal. But the only party that wants to do that is the party out of power, once in power they precede with their own gerrymandering while the other side, out of power wants gerrymandering outlawed.

Gerrymandering is a way for representatives to choose their voters instead of the voters choosing their representatives. You also have a legal gerrymandering problem with court ordered majority minority districts. Yes, this guarantees the Democrats 35 representatives. But it also lets the Republicans pack as many blacks and minorities into these districts which as you state allows the GOP to win most of the rest of the districts. Georgia has to get federal court approval of any district lines drawn. After 2010 the Republican controlled legislature had to redraw the lines 3 or 4 times to satisfy a federal judge. Not enough majority districts was the reason. So for the longest time we had 5 black Democrats and 9 white Republicans basically because of the court ordered majority minority districts. Last year we added one white Democrat so the balance is 8-6 GOP.

My solution would be a law which states as many counties must remain whole as possible. As an example if a state had between 3-5 representatives, only one county could be divided. 6-7,2 counties etc. But that would require doing away with the majority minority districts which prevent this solution. My little county is divided into thirds. The Democratic north, the republican southern portion and the middle which which is mixed.

Well...since you agree with everything in that article then you're just openly admitting to being a someone who's posts only deserve mockery. Outing yourself as an unserious poster really helps clear up how much time and thought should be wasted on you.

MTAtech:

Denazification cost between 50,000 and 80,000 German lives and involved the forcible internment of millions of Germans. As bad as the Republican Party under Trump, McConnell and McCarthy has been, such a political overreaction like that would be an horrendous over reaction and a monstrous crime against humanity. Furthermore it would confirm every irrational fear and hatered which Republican populists and Q-Anon wack-jobs have been saying about anybody to the left of them. The Republican Party must be abandoned until new leadership restores sense and ethics back to the whole conservative movement; but internment and mass murder are far beyond what is needed and are wholly unethical and profoundly criminal options.

Turn the sophisticated American public relations industry and the mass media loose on the present-day Republican Party plus its wicked leadership and within a year or two American conservatives of all political positions will abandon it or seize it back from the mad-men and mad-women who are controlling it now. Attack the authoritarians and the white supremacists and press those who would use violence until they either do violence (in which case they are arrested, tried, convicted and jailed or killed for their actions) or until they abandon such drives and return to following the norms of a civil society. There is no need for mass internment or mass murder in order to right the politics of America on an even keel. Fascism and authoritarianism can be defeated by non-fascist but very vigorous means, through powerful and pervasive persuasion and the reshaping of minds and hearts rather than by breaking backs and killing human beings.

Cheers and be well.

I didn't even read the Commondreams article.
I don't need to and don't want to, and here's why:

This so called "purge" isn't a purge at all, it's just punishment for participating in an insurrection.
ALL members of the House and Senate who gave ANY kind of aid, comfort and support to the January 6 insurrectionists need to be booted permanently and prohibited from holding public office for life.
In fact, it was a mistake for Pelosi and Schumer to swear them in.

Don't mistake our silence for acquiescence.

New York had a Republican Senate in 2010.

In order to please Democrats? No way. You don't do anything to help your enemy.

Let people that hate you call you fascist. If you just laugh it off that the people that support you will grow.

No the GOP shouldn't purge "da fascists" they should hold this article up and say "what next are we the Sith, or demons?"

To bad they aren't that smart.

That's what has devolved in this country. Republicans used to view Democrats as a legitimate party that merely disagrees with them on certain policies. Now, Republicans view Democrats as their enemy.

well when Democrats lost their minds they ceased to be legitimate. It used to be a republican and Democrats had the same goals they just had different viewpoints on how to get there and now they don't have the same goals.

Now Democrats support terrorist organizations that riot for 8 months. They want to tear down all of our rights. They don't want to be a sovereign Nation

they've always been enemies to pretend they never were is to live in a fantasy world.

I would say that Democrats at least harbor the enemy of the State. They hate our country, or just everything about it.

I don't know why they changed

Well from my observations most white people support white nationalism. There are very vocal extreme groups supporting this but there are a whole lot more that are quietly hoping they win. White people are very afraid of losing their dominant position in our society.

The battle lines are clearly drawn. It will be interesting to see which side prevails.

Tell me all about how Democrats support terrorist organizations when Republicans incited and supported a violent assault on the U.S. Capitol in order to overturn a legitimate election.

The Republican Party is the one that lost their minds.

no Republican politician incited the capital riot. That's a media lie.

Democrats incited, encouraged and profited off of 8 months of BLM riots. Maxine waters was inciting riots in minnesota directly just a couple of days ago.

Pretending this isn't happening is dishonest.
The Republican Party is the one that lost their minds.
I'm not a fan of Republicans either, but the offender is Democrats there isn't any debate.

What else CAN they do?

They are on the wrong side of America on just about every issue you could imagine. If they budge on policy/ideology, in order to get in better step with the populous, they risk losing a significant portion of their voting base, (the folks that are still keeping them in office.) That base, when compared the massive population, that is the whole of America, isn't much more than a wing section up in the cheap seats by comparison. But, when figured into the whole of republican voters, their percentage is significant and they can't be ignored by the republican running for public office.

All the republicans have left is to propagandize the base, gerry-mander, obstruct, minimize vote count and try to set into law loopholes that will give them the legal means to overturn the vote of the people. (They did not have to measures in place when Trump lost. )

It's all they got.
