Star Wars Episode VII tentatively slated for 2015 . . . by Disney.

Can't blame Lucas for wanting to avoid the taxes.

...........

And without any spoken words!

These movies will be glorious, I hope they're based off of Heir to the Empire.

I assumed that Episode 7 would be Heir to the Empire as well, and that they'd just create the Thrawn trilogy as 7-9.

If it's anything else, it'd pretty much have to be unique to anything put in print to this point.

Cracked weighs in on the Disney buying Star Wars issue:

I don't completely agree with all of these points, but they aren't entirely without merit.

If you're any kind of nerd, you FREAKED OUT OMG THANKS GEORGE LUCAS FOR CRAPPING ON MY CHILDHOOD AGAIN NICE FLANNEL YOU ****

Hopefully you didn't get too many stares and hopefully you calmed down, or at least turned Capslock off.

We're not that bad are we

Frankly, I'm indifferent to the idea of a new movie or trilogy. If it happens, I'll go see it. If not, oh well. I won't feel like I'm missing anything.

What I'm really hoping for is a Blu-ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy. And even one with the absence of "Episode IV - A New Hope" in the opening crawl.

I didn't even think about that, I don't really mind the changes made to the original ones, since I well grew up with those versions, but I would love a version where Han is the only one who shoots! That annoys me to no end.

There is a very good fan edit out there, far better than any of the Special Editions, with cleaned up and enhanced effects and a great sound mix, and Han most definitely is the only one to shoot. You can download it as a complete DVD and burn it to dual-layer. It has menu screens just like the official releases. Really first-class work.

Not Blu-ray, but easily the best DVD presentation.

If there is no Anakin Solo, I will be disappointed....

I don't like schmaltzy, manipulative and lazy crap. That doesn't mean I'm soulless. Please watch anything by Hayao Miyazaki and cleanse your palate.

Do we really need to sit through the ten thousandth anime about preserving the environment?

Yeah, it's about as anime-rific as you can get. All the conventions, including the spastic kid.

Up sucked, bring it on. Ed Asner can suck it.

I just felt Up was a poor combination of two stories cobbled together - sometimes that works (i.e. the Beatles carried it of once when Paul and John had two half songs which worked together as a stronger whole) but the scriptwriters for Up were no Lennon and Macartney I'm afraid.

Unfortunately Pixar wanted a 90minute movie so the short at the start got stretched.

Anyhow, this is still digressing from Star Wars. I think it will be great but I am pleased George Lucas retains involvement. It was his baby after all.

Word is they're using his basic plotlines for the next episodes. I guess the extended universe is out the window, which makes me happy. Picked up one of those books and appreciated the prequels a little more. They just need a script writer who can create an audience cipher like Han Solo and cut down on the Jedi personalities.

Disney Star Wars.webp

Seems like a logical marriage of intellectual property.

The term "fan edit" makes me cringe. I still think that Lucas should be shot for reworking the end of ROTJ with Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw.

I'd be kinda weirded out by seeing the father of my ghost and he looks 10 years younger than I am.
