So I am just wondering who you feel is the best batman, bruce Wayne, and combination in the long running superhero movies. And in also wondering why?

I have to say, that in spite of bad ratings, I loved the most recent 2 batman movies. And I can't wait for more. Ben Affleck's batman was perfect. Grizzled. Big. Tough. And his Bruce Wayne was actually seen doing the detective work. It just felt right. He seemed on the razor's edge of sanity. He didn't seem like a spoiled rich boy. He didn't feel like what pierce Brosnan James Bond felt like.

Of course the dark knight was an amazing movie, but I don't feel that it was Christian bale and his batman that made it so. It was all Heath ledger.

Anyway enough fanboy stuff. I'm excited for the new Batmans because I don't feel like I'm getting a nipple suit George Clooney batman. What do y'all think?

My favorite Batman is Ben Affleck's Batman.

He was by far the best part of BvS.

So true. Honestly I can't help but feel he was flawless as batman. The guy is big, he is grizzled, and he doesn't come off as too soft to be batman. It was nice to see.

I really liked Bale. I think he did a good job of showing Bruce Wayne, not just as Batman, but as an intelligent, driven, and highly goal oriented, but ultimately conflicted, man outside of the mask as well. Sure, it was kind of an understated performance. However, that simply made the character more relatable, IMO, particularly to a preternaturally serious introvert like myself.

Ben Affleck's Batman, on the other hand, is a lot more dynamic. He focuses more on the darker aspects of the character; his rage, and generally "damaged" emotional nature. He's, admittedly, a bit more "superhuman" than Bale was, but he's undeniably entertaining to watch in being so.

In short, I like them both. They simply focus on difference aspects of the character. Frankly, that actually keeps fairly well with the comics - Some focus on Batman as the stoic and noble professional detective, and some focus on him more as a brooding "mad dog" who stands out from other superheros for that exact reason.

Christian Bale. Whenever I think of Batman I think of him. Like Tobey Maguire with Spiderman or even Patrick Stewart with Charles Xavier.

Michael Keaton made a fantastic batman.

Same. Keaton played Bats tough, no nonsense. Batfleck is probably my #2.

Val Kilmer played the best Bruce Wayne for me- the glasses was an original touch.

Bale had the best suit- but he made Bats sound like the Cookie Monster.

It may have just been the writing, but Afflecks Batman was way too easily manipulated by Luthor. That was bull****. Batman wouldn't fall for that crap, no matter how xenophobic he was when superman first showed up. There was no hint of "the worlds greatest detective" there with the single exception of him figuring out who Superman was, something that happens in every iteration of Batman meeting Superman.

Michael Keatons Batman was perfect. Cloony was dismal. Affleck...the movie writing was just so bad I dont know how to judge him.

I thought Bale did a decent job. But the vocal as the Batman...just...kinda goofy.

I feel like that is explained well. The batman just watched untold numbers of people die because of superman and the people who brought with him. It is easy to see him being manipulated that way. I think one thing that should have been done is put Luther farther in the backdrop and it would have helped. Increased the amount of searching for superman too. The writing WAS a little on the nose, but that isn't on Affleck.

Which after years of being batman would not have phased him like that. Batman wasn't that stupid, but superman actually is. Thats actually a common complaint of those who know batman and superman of the comics. They dumbed Batman down. He would have caught on to the manipulations of Luthor long before Superman did. It doesn't make sense to make the worlds greatest detective and someone absolutely known for being emotionally hard so blind to being manipulated and so emotionally vulnerable.

Only when he was upside-down. Lol

I have not seen aflack as batman yet.

Haven't seen Afleck.

For me, each batman seems to represent a different time period, and as such, they do a great job.

Well, wait. What I mean is, each reboot. As in, Keaton, Bale, then Affleck. Bale plays the young batman, just starting out. Where he falls flat is his third movie, he couldn't pull off the return so well. I'm assuming Affleck does. Keaton rocks the middle period...serious, angry...but tempered, calm, still hopeful, still believing in his cause.

Kilmer sucked, Clooney sucked more.

True. And Ben is excellent in his role as the grizzled vet. I actually hold out hope for the upcoming JLA movies. I feel like they will not be avenger rip offs. But I've never been a marvel fan anyway.

Haven't seen suicide squad yet either, but I heard its pg13?

Huge mistake right there.

What we need is a grizzly, rated R batman movie. Make it dark. That's why Ledgers joker was so acclaimed. Ask the question...in a world that requires a billionaire orphan to stand up for the masses, is victory even possible?

But if batman kills then you've given up a core component of Batman. That's the biggest issue with Afflecks batman, killing is not acceptable in the world of Batman because it puts him on the level of Joker. It's the sole reason for the problem he has with Jason, the second Robin, the Red Hood upon his return. Jason kills and Batman doesn't.

But batman DOES kill....the joker wins, in the graphic novel. He kills joker.

But him killing is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a critique of a populace that needs a rich crazy guy to dress up in a scary costume and break the law every night to defend themselves....from themselves.

THAT is Bruce Wayne's and bat mans biggest issue, and thus far, no movie has even tried to adress it, likely because it would be depressing, lol.

No batman doesn't kill in the main DC universe, ever. Graphic novels of movies are like alternate universes. They usually have the same problems as the movies themselves.

My favorite bat? Corynorhinus rafinesquii

Corynorhinus rafinesquii.webp

:)

Second favorite Michael Keaton

Technically my favorite Bat is Dick Grayson (all of Bruce Wayne's/Batman's allies are known as "bats"). However, I didn't actually like him that much as Batman though (which he was for about a year and a half, give or take a couple months earlier in the DC universe).

As for actors, Michael Keaton would be my favorite. However, no one mentioned the original Batman, Lewis Wilson, nor the second one, Robert Lowrey. Plus, if we move outside of live action, Kevin Conroy easily gets the gold. The Animated Series was awesome due in very large part to Conroy's Batman and the writing.

I have not seen aflack as batman yet.

Batfleck's portrayal is similar to Keaton's, but a bit more burned out and psychopathic since he doesnt care about killing people, it seems.

Batman didnt exactly fall for it, there are plenty of iterations of Batman where hes goes super paranoia all on his own. It seemed like BvS was a cross between The dark knight returns, injustice and JLA:tower of babel
