Well, I thought the story was over with Robertson's excuses. But Chavez has more than a trick in his bag..

Chávez taunts US with oil offer

Venezuelan president hits back at assassination remarks with offer of cheap petroleum for poor Americans

The Guardian

President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela hit back vigorously at calls by an ally of President George Bush for his assassination by offering cheap petrol to the poor of the US at a time of soaring fuel prices.

The guy knows how to make people love him :2razz:

By the way, even Bill O'Reilly found a call for murder from a Christian on a Christian talk show ridiculous, and the story even found it's way into the British press, although he was not linked to the Republicans or mainstream Christianity in any of the articles I read.

The last post just clicked this post in my head from yesterday...

Here ya go...

Robertson Is Pilloried for Assassination Call

By LAURIE GOODSTEIN

....Liberals, however, were not silent. The Rev. Jesse Jackson called for an investigation by the Federal Communications Commission, just as it did when Janet Jackson's breast was exposed during a Superbowl broadcast. "This is even more threatening to hemispheric stability than the flash of a breast on television during a ball game," he said.

One liberal watchdog group, Media Matters for America, sent a letter urging the ABC Family network to stop carrying Mr. Robertson's program. Another group, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, asked President Bush to repudiate Mr. Roberson personally.

Looking for opinions on this NY Times article...Not an Op-Ed piece...

Is this overkill?....One....two...three.....DISCUSS!!!!

Lol. I'll shoot first :)

Overkill? I can't say anything 'bout that. It is if the US citizens feel it is. Over here, he would have been jailed for hate speech.
Worse than flashing a breast? Sure.

Now, 'bout the article..

Did the guy REALLY say
In 2003, Mr. Robertson said "maybe we need a very small nuke thrown" at State Department headquarters "to shake things up."
???

I'm a bit .. no .. a LOT flabergasted (sp?) ..

I condemn the words of Robertson..........That is the difference between Conservatives and Liberals........When a Conservative like Robertson makes and outrageous statement Conservatives condemn it.......When a Liberal like Sheehan or Moore make outrageous statements liberal never condemn it...........In fact they eat it up........

Moore is a nut, who pays attention to him. I did get a kick out of his movies.
Now you are picking on Sheehan? YOur a strange one. Don't forget that her son was one of the troops we both support, that Bush caused him to be killed in a war started for no reason. Since Irag, had no WMD or was not envolved in 911, like Saudi Arabia, why is Bush sacrafiicing our children in Irag? Why aren't we using all the money Bush is borrowing from the Central Bank of Communist China to fight terrorism?

I know you have no answer for you, but to mock Sheehan because she lost a son in Bush's War, and to try to pretend there is a ligitimate reason for Bush's War.
I don't take Moore Seriously any more than i would take Rush Limbaugh. I do take Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld and the right wingers in congress seriously. they get people killed and lie about everything.

Well at least you sort of condemn it....
The statemenst I have seen, have been about Iraq, of which, I do agree with her. In the ones she did not qualify her statement with Iraq, I don't think I would use the word condemn. As I said, I would disagree with her, in that the US is worth fighting for. But Iraq is not the war for that.

If you want the "C" word out of me, I certainly condemn Pat Robertson's statements on everything from Iraq to Nick and Jessica.

Nah, but you're happy to accuse them of symapthising with and giving comfort to terrorists.

I have a plan for the religious fundamentalists of the world... bwahahaha!

Ya know, you post a lot of jokes on here. I figured this was just another one because I thought "the ol' Reverend, while pretty dang annoying, isn't blatantly stupid, so this must be a ruse". Well, I followed the link and by gum it was a real article! I enjoyed this part from the article too:

NYTimes said:
But other conservative Christian organizations remained silent, with leaders at the Traditional Values Coalition, the Family Research Council and the Christian Coalition saying through spokesmen that they were too busy to comment.
Yeah, our comment is that we're too busy to comment.

It's a class 3 hurricane of stupidity swirling around all of this.

Oh is that the same WTO that Clinton approved in NAFTA and GATT?

I would like to see the transcript where she made that statement. Oh, a Limbaugh transcript where he says she made that statement doesn’t count.

The radical right has no problem smearing anyone who disagrees with them. If Jesus Christ was a war protester or a Democratic Presidential Candidate, you can bet that some group like “The other 20 Apostles” would come forward spouting propaganda. Sean Hannity would be saying that “we have sworn affidavits from 20 Apostles that Jesus did not walk across water, but actually took a raft, and that he was the head of a communist movement set to over throw the Roman Government. The man is a fake and a flip flopper. If he really did do all these things he claims he has done, then why do only 12 Apostles support him and 20 don’t?”

The little smear campaign against Cindy Sheehan hasn’t worked out for them. Yeah, the 30% or so Americans who make up the core right wing constituency are buying it, but no one else seems to anymore and that 70% of so of sensible Americans now are seeing these guys for the immoral, despicable, power hungry liars that they are.

On the one hand you say Moore is a nut but you got a kick out of his movies....Isn't that a contradiction...........

No one is minimizing the loss of her son but it is gone way beyond that now.......She has become a political hack for the left and the America haters with her comments about Israel and that this country is not owrth fight for.......

Actually, I think it would be the same as saying "Let's kill that thieve on the spot rather than sending 100,000 troops and billions of dollars worth of equipment to his home and blowing it up."

I read that transcript from Sheehan’s interview on Hardball. She never said that this country is not worth fighting for. She did say that she didn’t think that Iraq was worth dieing for and she didn’t think that Afghanistan was worth fighting. I agree with her on Iraq, I don’t agree with her at all on Afghanistan.

The right seems to be all about freedom and democracy, but one of your conservative leaders who enjoys a great deal of access to the Whitehouse has called for the assassination of the democratically elected Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. He then claimed a day later that he did not make the remark. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with many of the actions of Hugo Chavez, but he was elected and he does enjoy a 70% approval rating in his own country. Moreover, if the people of Venezuela are stupid enough to want to go communist, then if freedom really is on the march, we cant really get in their way can we?

You right wingers are trying to distant yourselves from Robertson’s remarks, but hell, his views are inline with the core ideology of the religious conservative movement. Just remember, when you lay down with fundies, you get up with fleas.

Not really. I think everyone on Fox News is nuts, but I get a kick out of watching that ****. But yeah, I can't stand to watch his shitty movies.

Cindy Sheehan said that she never said that **** about Israel, that was an unsubstanciated rumor. I don't know who's telling the truth on that. I'm not much of a fan of Israel, and I'm not really sure what side she's on on that matter.
Some people have taken advantage of Cindy Sheehan, like those ****ing psychos at PETA, but that doesn't detriment from the merit of her protest. And I assume that you don't really give a **** about famous people getting behind her protest, but instead that vast majority of America that is.

And saying that we're not fighting for is a misquote. She said that Iraq is not worth fighting for. You're just spewing right wing bullshit. I'm sure there's some merit to your position, but as long as you're saying the same **** as Hannity, you're not gonna show any of that merit.

Sheehan said this country is not worth dying for...........She did not say Iraq.....She also said going after UBL in Afghanistan was wrong.....

You have your liberal head buried in the sand my friend..............Robertson and Sheehan are both loose cannons and Sheehan has become a pawn of the far left............

Oh and as far as Moore goes I was responding to Dragonslayer, not you........

Well, as long as the "thief" has been convicted through and through.

Doesn't seem like this is the case, or would you argue that?

I thought you said she did not say it on Hardball....You didn't even look.........You should learn how to use the Google search engine..........You might learn something....Now the next time do your own work because Conservatives won't do it for you....

Oh by the way you also supported Lynne Stewart another radical left winger who was convicted of aiding and abetting terrorism.........

http://www.webcommentary.com/asp/ShowArticle.asp?id=barrettt&date=050822

"America is not worth dying for!" So said Cindy Sheehan in April of this year at a rally in support of Attorney Lynne Stewart, who was convicted of aiding and abetting terrorism. Some commentators have speculated that Sheehan is a political innocent being controlled by radical leftists such as Michael Moore. I say her words prove that she has become a radical leftist in her own right.

Funny, but I DID stop reading your "article" when i fell on
Sheehan sounds like every other socialist and America hater

You're not able to discuss, even less to debate. You're just able to spew.

Good for you, we will have to foresee kleenexes.

When you will use articles that are NOT biased, or type your own opinions with a sense of honesty, maybe you'll see someone agreeing with you. Untill then,...
