The problem that the GOP is having is limiting itself in who can be part of and take part of the control of its party. The Dems have always seemed to allow greater leeway in who is part of their party. Now a newly elected Dem may end that and do more damage to the Dems than either Trump or the GOP can do. It seems this newly elected Dem, Ocasio-Cortez wants to eliminate all of those in the party that don't agree with the views of her group, the very far left. In essence, she is asking "her" followers to cut out y a large portion of her own party and us independents who make the difference in an election. She is doing exactly what the GOP did when the Tea Party became so strong in the GOP, use that power in the primaries to cut out any that are not true believers. In the end she will do more damage to the Dems in the end than Trump or the GOP. I bet the GOP is cheering her on!!!!

She will find out very quickly what happens when she tries to rock the Dem Elite's boat.

How does she propose to "eliminate" all Democrats except those who are very far left? I'm unaware of these efforts.

If she supports those who align with her views, OK, so does Pelosi, Ryan, McConnell, Trump and anyone active in party politics beyond their own narrow race. Does she advocate for her own positions? If so that makes her the same as everyone else in D.C. What makes her unique versus, say, what Paul Ryan just did as Speaker, handing out money to candidates he and his donors supported, and not to others?

This focus on a freshman House member who hasn't even been sworn in is bizarre to me. We'll see how she does as a Congresswoman when it comes time to vote. Does she push hard for her position in committee and during the drafting (totally appropriate - what she was elected TO DO), and fall in line with the compromise that's the inevitable result? Who knows?

A freshman Senator ran for President in 2008. Ocasio-Cortez has gone "viral" which is causing her to become a face for the Democrat party.

What policy proposals does she have do you consider to be damaging? I think some of her stuff is damaging like a basic income, but others are popular like universal healthcare, and free college. It really depends on what positions she pulls democrats to the left on.

The Republicans and their hate filled propaganda loving Allies on Fox News need another bogeyman.

She's a Dem.. She's a woman. She's a minority. She fits the bill.

Yup.
I see the Dems as being a catch all for anyone who doesn't like Trump. They are now this amorphous blob that forms and reforms in response to the SJW issues du jour, and anything Trump says (they will oppose). I think they are rudderless.

I'm not thinking of them as "elites" but, rather, as experienced lawmakers who are going to school Ocasio-Cortez and the other whippers on decorum. ;)

Why I'm now 100% behind Pelosi as speaker. Yes, I will throw up in my mouth a little bit when she wraps those bony hands around the gavel, but I'm going to have to deal. Pelosi has to right the ship and beat down the socialist/communist/Marxist factions which includes AOC.

Ah yes, the intersectional victimhood triumvirate. Right out of the handbook, there.

Yep, doesn't take too long for the system to crush the souls of ideologues in Congress, regardless of lean.

So far I haven't seen her get out of line in a way that's alarming. There was a big story the other day planted by a Republican operative about the sit-in in Pelosi's office. It wasn't much of anything, just people wanting to make a big deal out of very little.

"Democratic" would be a misnomer. We can call it the "Manipulative" party if it makes you happy.

See, actually the name of the party is the Democratic Party. But if you want to be childish, OK, so you're a member of the Repugnant party?

In the last 10 years or so I have yet to find a Republican who knows anything about economics. Whether communism, capitalism, socialism, whatever. You guys NEVER get it right. You spew nonsense and name call. But you haven't a clue about the true meaning of any economic system.
