Ocasio-Cortez will do more damage to Dems than Trump or GOP!

The Republicans and their hate filled propaganda loving Allies on Fox News need another bogeyman.

She's a Dem.. She's a woman. She's a minority. She fits the bill.

She’s the new Hillary, the new Pelosi... smart woman and best of all young and from a secure district... years of hate for the right to gear up for... I imagine Rush is salivating...

"Democratic" would be a misnomer. We can call it the "Manipulative" party if it makes you happy.

Generally a common courtesy is to call people by the names they have chosen: it’s the Democratic or the Republican Party. Of course if Rush or someone decides differently, the GOP must obey.

No, he's not.

Why? Do you think the Democratic party needs to move further and further left, losing more and more people? That a big drop from 1980 to today, roughly 45% of the total electorate down to 30%. Perhaps you one of those who wouldn't care if the Democratic Party dropped to just 10% of the total electorate as long as they outnumbered Republicans 10-8%, would that do you fine? It's happening to both parties, both are shrinking.

But both major parties hold all the power in our two party electoral system. They have an monopoly. It seems to me we are entering an era where on side offers up an extremist right candidates, the other extremist left candidates. We'll see what direction the Democrats take now that they have control of the house. Will the democrats make that control as short as it was last time, 2007-2010? But pushing an agenda most Americans found way to far out there? Time will tell.

You'd imagine wrong. I think Ocasio-Cortez is going to learn day by day that she doesn't know it all. But what I have been addressing, apparently not clearly enough, is her jejune presumption. To be clear, this isn't a Republican or Dem thing; it's a manners thing.

A manners thing? Oh my, that certainly needs addressing in light of the genteel administration we currently have.

Ocasio-Cortez got elected by getting a new generation to the polls. She's there representing them. I'm sure she will take some knocks, but the need of the right to create a picture of this terribly "jejune" woman who is out to destroy the moral fabric of America is pretty laughable.

There's this fantasy on the right that socialism equals Venezuela (or Stalin) and that once 'The Left TM' wakes up to this it will abandon all progressive candidates and throw its weight behind tradition. Maybe they're all even closet Republicans am I right?

Nope, there'll always be a left and a right, and representatives like Cortez will always have their base, as will candidates like DeSantis. No need to pretend one is normal and not the other.

I know it's the correct name. It's just not apt any longer.:)

Neither is “republican.” With Trump at the helm, our “res publica” is fading fast, being replaced by “res pecuniosi.”

Exactly when did the Left decide that humor was a bad thing? Lighten up.

"A sit in!! A sit in!!11!! That's like defecating on someone's deck!!!!!"

Pathetic demonization. Absolutely pathetic.

ABC News says Ocasio-Cortez led the protestors: "Before she’s even taken an oath of office, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined protesters at Nancy Pelosi’s office and led a sit-in to protest climate change." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ale...orientation-leading-protest/story?id=59165661

Yeah, she led them which is why in the short video she's showed carrying a jacket over her arm with a briefcase, clearly having stopped in on her way to or from some other event appointment. And she said it's not about confrontation but about "unity!" Can you believe that? What a rude bitch.

I don't think it has anything to do with "moral fabric", her sex or her skin color. It is her fervent ideology and socialist agenda. She is as anti-capitalist as they come and wants to inflict a particularly odious brand of emotional SJWing (which involves shoving her agenda down everyone's throats) when she needs to focus on legislating. Which, does not involve participating in "sit ins" in the office of perhaps the most powerful woman in her party.
Time to grow up.

I'm not thinking of them as "elites" but, rather, as experienced lawmakers who are going to school Ocasio-Cortez and the other whippers on decorum. ;)

Yep, pat her on the head, tell her to help draft some meaningless bill in an obscure sub-committee, co-sign and/or vote for the important stuff (written by others) and if she won't STFU and play along then arrange for her to lose in her next district primary.

That would be the best plan for the Dem party.

Her "fervent ideology" will be represented by 1 vote. If her ideas are so novel and scary and "odious" it's probably time that people realize the complexity of this nation.

How exactly is she "shoving her agenda" down your throat?

She's speaking, which isn't allowed. Her proper role is to go to her corner, kiss the rings of her elders and suck up to the lobbyists, like a true American Congressman.

Why I'm now 100% behind Pelosi as speaker. Yes, I will throw up in my mouth a little bit when she wraps those bony hands around the gavel, but I'm going to have to deal. Pelosi has to right the ship and beat down the socialist/communist/Marxist factions which includes AOC.

You're a dedicated Trumper.

Like it matters to you who the Dem Speaker is :rofl

She wants her colleagues who are not socialist progressives to be primaried. She believes she is "saving our country". That's fervent and it's scary. She wants the Dems to shift HARD left and for the party to be monolithic. Of course, it hasn't been "big tent" for quite some time, but she WILL end up driving away Dem voters.

This isn't just wanton hating on the "Puerto Rican from the Bronx". She's bad news for the Dems and I hope she gets sorted out or loses the very next race.

Your a dedicate hater. Like it matters to you that our country not be hijacked by Leftists who will never deign to reach across the aisle or listen to other points of view.

Sour grapes? If the Republicans did their jobs over the last two years they’d still have ‘em. ;)

Does it occur to you that you imagine her quite powerful? I disagree with you on your assessment of her beliefs, but even IF you are correct how would she convince everyone to do as she wants?

It is wonderful you are so concerned with the future success of the democrats. That support is unexpected.

I would love to see a list of the Rightists who have ever reached across the aisle. That might be very interesting to compare.

If Pelosi is half the party leader I know her to be, she will do a bunch of saber rattling in public and gently let AOC down in private. As somebody mentioned, AOC is not even sworn in yet. Pelosi is needed as Speaker. I am truly interested in who makes Dem Whip because it can't possibly still be Hoyer. I am fine with AOC fire breathing away. She is young and does not really understand Capitol Hill at all at this point. Cut her a break. Pelosi will. She will quickly learn how little you get done splitting your own party vote. Fire breathing does not fix anything. Either you have the votes or you don't.

:lamoHighjacked:lamo
Not much reaching across from the Republicans over the last two years. Maybe some reacharounds, but no reaching across.

Funny how Trumpers blow off the racists politicians in their party. And the racists groups that call the GOP their home. Their argument is those racists are just a small % of Republicans and they won't influence the rest of the GOP.. But here we have ONE Dem politician and those same Trumpsters believe she speaks for and will influence every Democrat in the country,.. lol

The problem that the GOP is having is limiting itself in who can be part of and take part of the control of its party. The Dems have always seemed to allow greater leeway in who is part of their party. Now a newly elected Dem may end that and do more damage to the Dems than either Trump or the GOP can do. It seems this newly elected Dem, Ocasio-Cortez wants to eliminate all of those in the party that don't agree with the views of her group, the very far left. In essence, she is asking "her" followers to cut out y a large portion of her own party and us independents who make the difference in an election. She is doing exactly what the GOP did when the Tea Party became so strong in the GOP, use that power in the primaries to cut out any that are not true believers. In the end she will do more damage to the Dems in the end than Trump or the GOP. I bet the GOP is cheering her on!!!!
