“There is a smug style in American liberalism,” wrote Emmett Rensin. “It is a way of conducting politics, predicated on the belief that American life is not divided by moral difference or policy divergence — not really — but by the failure of half the country to know what’s good for them.”

It gets better: Writes Rensin, “Nothing is more confounding to the smug style than the fact that the average Republican is better educated and has a higher IQ than the average Democrat. That for every overpowered study finding superior liberal open-mindedness and intellect and knowledge, there is one to suggest that Republicans have the better of these qualities.”

Wow.

Rensin calls out posturing progressivism for its “condescending, defensive sneer toward any person or movement outside of its consensus, dressed up as a monopoly on reason.” He notes that the base of the Democratic party morphed from working-class whites to an ungainly coalition of elite coastal professionals and minorities “largely excluded” from “decision-making.”

Rejected by their own core, the Democrats looked for excuses. It couldn’t be that their message was repellent to the masses. So they satisfied themselves with “the theory that conservatism, and particularly the kind embraced by those out there in the country, was not a political ideology at all. . . . Stupid hicks don’t know what’s good for them. They’re getting conned by right-wingers and tent revivalists until they believe all the lies that’ve made them so wrong. They don’t know any better. That’s why they’re voting against their own self-interest.”

I guess the question I have for the author is:

"If you claim 'their message was repellent to the masses', why have the Dems won the national Presidential vote every-time for the past two decades"?

There seems to be a disconnect between that claimed, and votes cast.

It seems like the only participation conservatives can find for themselves in society is to complain about liberals, what liberals say, what liberals do.

After 8 years of obstruction and complaints, their candidates "run against". No plans, no future, just to "stop people & things". Now an outsider comes into the party, and they turn on stopping him! Money grabbing greedy a-holes is what they are. Seriously, what are their plans for the future besides their ascent into power? None! Nada! Zilch! All they want is the power, they have nothing to offer.

And as crazy as building a wall sounds, the outsider at least offers *something*! Which is why he essentially knocked all 16 of them out; well 14 straight away, 15 lost but refuses to leave, and 16 hangs around but cannot win except by insider shenanigans.

You know, when I think about it in those terms, it is totally screwed.

He polls far behind the badly hindered weak Dem candidate by something like 15pts. Yet he walks all over every GOP candidate and the entire party!

I really think it's because they as a party have nothing to offer. Yes, they claim conservative values; and there's still a fair number of conservatives left in the country. Though after looking at Trump's and Bernie's rise, it seems liberalism and moderation are definitely alive and growing. But what else are they offering to do? Where is the budget in an election year for them to rally around? There's none! Because they can't agree on one! They can't govern! They can't even hold their party together! So why elevate them to complete power & control of the government?

It makes no sense to turn the White House over to them.

There are two types of Progressive Liberals:

1. Socialists attempting to lie about what they are.

2. Useful Idiots who join up because they think it’s cool or they like a social issue (abortion, gay rights). But they don’t realize they are giving support to the most destructive political/economic ideology the world has ever seen.

A close examination of the governing platforms of both Socialism and Communism shows the absolute only difference between the two is Socialist try to claim they can function without a Totalitarian Dictatorship.

The problem with that is Socialism is so antithetical to human nature that people have to be forced to do it. This can only happen with an all powerful centralized government controlling everything AKA a Totalitarian Dictatorship.
