In shootings, is the gun to blame?

Not sure why we even need an army. According to some people, guns go off by themselves.
According to some people, gun bans can't stop a homicide because people also use knives. Knives are cheaper, why do we spend so much on the military if it doesn't make them better at killing?

Gun bans won't stop homicides just as abortion bans won't stop abortions and meth bans won't stop meth heads.

Not even one homicide? That's the problem with speaking in black and white terms. Nobody is claiming that a gun ban ends the entire concept of murder, but you post like that is part of the discussion.

That's what I thought you said. I was reading too fast.

I'm perfectly fine with gun bans for certain people. We already have those laws.

For future reference, nobody has ever said that. If you ever think someone is saying that, you are "reading too fast" again.

Let's say you wave a magic wand and delete every gun in the country. Would you say homicide rates change at all?

Of course.

Of course.

Ok great. So "guns don't kill people, people kill people" isn't a useful conversation because the gun helps.

Leftists have a problem with personal responsibility. Forks make them fat. McDonalds forces them into obesity. Rich people steal their pennies and force them into poverty. And guns runaround making people kill. Oh yeah...mentally ill people that are only shooting up schools daily because the government wont provide them free healthcare.

Sure. Any weapon helps you if you want to kill someone. Guns are the easiest and quickest.

You could also have a whole slew of guns in a certain area, but if no one in that area wanted to use them to kill people, there would be no homicide.

The gun problem in this country isn't that there are lots of them -- it's that people who shouldn't have access to them have access to them.

The guns up the potential body count of an otherwise homicidal person. That's the reason they exist in the first place.

It is if your Alec Baldwin, apparently.

Despite the fact that it is only involved in about 4% of homicides. Well never let reality stand in the way of an agenda.

Yes

Don't you think that maybe, just maybe, that Canada, Australia and the UK are on to something ?

Nope. If I wanted to be like them, I'd immigrate there.

given how many machine tools are available to private workshops-stuff that is far more sophisticated than what the Thompson Submachine gun and the Browning Automatic Rifles were made on, guns would quickly reappear. My maternal grandfather held many machine tool patents as a designer for the then leading machine tool maker in the country-and many of his machines were used to make such weapons as well as the M3 "Grease gun". The machine tool shop he had in his basement were more than sufficient-in 1966-to make M3 Grease guns. Fast forward 55 years later with 3D printers and CNC machinery.

Or pretty much most democracies in the world...but then the rest of the world is wrong.

Don't you think it's an amazing coincidence that you happened to be born in the country with the most sensible gun laws in the world ?
A bit like the amazingly luck Jehovah's Witnesses must feel to be born into a family that has the one and only true interpretation of the Bible - I mean of 7.5 billion people on Earth and only 8.5 million Witnesses, what are the chances...?

why do you spend so much time whining about the rights we enjoy in a country you migrated to?

I don't. I just object to ONE right that shouldn't exist (why do gun owners always pluralize this?)

Plus maybe the Constitution should recognize some other rights that other countries do.

A right to self defense is far more important than most any other right

A right to self defense is far more important than most any other right

A right to own a gun is not the same as a right to self defense

People in EVERY other country in the world have a right to self defense, but only in the USA is there a right to a gun.
