Let's try not to make this about me or the democrats. I really want to try to understand what it is about trump that garners so much loyalty from so many?

What has he done to help the people of west virginia, mississippi, louisiana? The folks in the middle of the country? I hear many don't like the man but like his policies? Such as?

He ran up the debt just like most presidents, so not fiscally responsible. He is a pathological liar. He was impeached, twice. He and the gop in general lost in 2018, 2020, 2022, he's currently being looked at from law enforcement from several directions and once again is calling for his supporters to 'protest' should he be indicted.

So why? What is the attraction?

I don't think it has anything to do with any redeeming quality that Trump has, he essentially has none.

The answer is condescension and contempt.

People that are inclined to have ring-wing views are pilloried, vilified, berated, assumed to be stupid and held in contempt, openly within liberal circles now. People don't like to be treated this way, they feel disrespected.

A Trump vote is them aligning with a bigger bully, so they can even the playing field.

I think those of us who espouse left leaning policies need to understand we aren't any better than anyone else, and that all people are allowed to hold their own views without ridicule or contempt. Just my 2 cents.

The president cannot spend a dime without congressional approval and a presidential veto can be over-ridden by congress.Again, that does not mean the president has no power over th budget. If we ever give the president the power of a "Line Item Veto", then the president would be at least close to equal. Using that, a president could trim alot of pork from congressional spending.
