If Musk re-opens the public square, ending undemocratic leftist censorship, can the left survive honest and open scrutiny?

Musk is stuck in the mud. He has stated that the offer he put on the table was his last and final and Twitter poison pilled it. I suspect this discussion is now over.

The most logical thing is to do is just snicker, crack open a beer and turn on Netflix.

Free speech isn't what you seem to think it is.
Here's free speech in a nutshell:

Uncle Sam can't punish you for anything you say short of making terroristic threats or disclosing classified government information or yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater.
That's it, that's the whole magilla.

Beyond that, freedom of speech out in the real world is not free, you must PAY FOR EVERY WORD and freedom of speech isn't freedom from consequences.
Adults with a minimum basic education have known this forever, and yet here you come insisting that Twitter is curtailing freedom of speech.
You might as well start typing in all caps, using "teh" instead of "the", sprinkling a lot of 1's in with your !!!'s and talking about all the commies under your bed.

That would require lunacy to be answered for. Then again, you would actually have to hold yourself to those rules to begin with and given what we've seen from the far-left so far. That will never be an actually practice that they put into use.

Aside from the silliness of some PC stuff on campus, I would say that the left is certainly in favor of free speech. I imagine that most of the donors to the ACLU are left of center. Try suggesting that our policy towards Cuba has been a 60-year failure, for example, and see what happens. Try to explain that CRT is a defensible theory, or that what Biden is doing on the border is in accord with the law and ratified treaties, and you’ll get a ration of BS from people who misrepresent both positions.

What do you actually know about schools except what you have read or watch and listen to on media from whatever your side of the argument you come from? My wife was a teacher and I was on a school board and I can tell you that there are teachers and administrators out there from both sides of the political aisle and none I know of would bring their politics into the classroom and if they did, it gets reported and taken care of. If you mean that they teach history that many right wingers do not like, slavery, racism and what we have done to native Americans, yes they do. If they have books on the shelves that upset Christians and Muslims alike, yes they do. Do they teach sex education in terms they can understand to the very young so they can protect themselves from sexual predators. Yes they do. I suspect those are what you call slanted teaching, but actual politics, NO.
