The sentiment against the tea party is significantly higher among self-described independent voters, who swing elections in Florida and who looked unfavorably on the tea party by 3-to-1, the poll showed.
We heard the same **** in 2010, "The TEA PARTY WILL HURT THE GOP!"
But the House... was basically the Tea Party's doing...
hmmmm
\Does it matter which way Independent voters tend to vote? The fact of the matter is according the poll, Independent voters aren't too keen on Tea Party members right now. And if their dislike for them continues and spreads nationwide, the Republican party will have problems. Why? Because the Tea Party comes under the umbrella of the Republican party. Doesn't matter the "mix" of so-called "true" political affiliation. By default, Independents will abandon the Tea Party - and by association, the Republican party - in large numbers.
Truth is, your Republican candidates cannot win the 2012 Presidency w/o either: a) bringing in a 3rd-party candidate, or b) pulling several Independent voters away from the Democrat party. And if the Tea Party is causing that much of a stir and making potention "swing voters" that much more disgrutled, the Republican party may find itself in big trouble come election time.
\
Because as we all know, independents WILL vote hard left, but they cannot bring themselves to vote for anyone that might even remotely appear more right then center

And it did lol. It was a given that the GOP would win the house, with or without the Tea Party.
But in key races, the Tea Party failed horribly. Nevada, Alaska and so on... high profile Tea Party flops because of wacko candidates. The GOP had a great shot in taking BOTH houses, but failed because... of the Tea Party!
GOP poll: Tea party movement could cost Republicans in 2012 - Political Currents - MiamiHerald.com
not surprising one bit and it will only get worse I suspect.
I partially agree here, but I think Pelosi did plenty to help **** the Democrats. That's one reason I can't believe they kept her as their leader. Hard to believe the Dems don't have a single person better than her. Same goes for Reid, maybe a bit less.To say the house was mostly the tea party's doing is a huge stretch. The house was mostly the doing of poor economy and the fact that the sitting president's party almost always does poorly.
It's was too early in the election season for polls to mean much of anything, even when you would like them to be true.
