Fox News says Tammy Duckworth hasn't paid property tax in years

Your opinion is worthless in this matter.

Loss of both legs is considered a 100% disability by the VA. Whether or not a person can or does work is absolutely irrelevant. This is not social security or workman's compensation.
That is irrelevant to me as it relates to tax liability. If she can be a senator with a six figure income then she can pay her taxes.

Nobody cares.

According to Illinois law, she does not have to pay property taxes.

Screech all you want. Get real mad about it. It means nothing.

Very possible. There is a different category of VA disability for a veteran disabled so badly that he can't work. I think it pays more than simple 100% disability. The VA disability itself can be a tidy little tax free sum, but it won't generally cover much of a nice standard of living. I think they expect the veteran to work as well as collect their monetary benefits.

Depends on what you consider a nice standard of living. I get DIC benefits from his VA pension and live comfortably.

You can be 100% disabled and still work as long as you don’t hit the income threshold.

However, if you are considered individually unemployable (IU), you can’t work, and can possibly qualify for the same benefits a 100% service-connected soldier qualifies for.

You can be either, or both.

Wanna bet there are some brain dead Trumpers and Fox watchers out there that will immediately react with some racist, sexist comment about Duckworth? Maybe mock her name?
Only took 3 posts to prove you correct

Guys. I implore you: understand that Napoleon does not actually believe there's anything wrong with exemptions for disabled vets. He's not even making an argument. He's doing the same thing he does in literally *EVERY* thread.

He's picking the dumbest and ugliest position he can think of in order to bother people. If you reply, he'll go "yes! I got another! lulz!"

That's it. That's all that's under the hood.
He prob’ly has a Napoleon complex. 🤡

I take him at face value, as I'd take a kid who pulls the wings off of flies at face value.

My daughter gets something like $2300 or so a month. By itself, that wouldn't be much considering housing costs in many areas. Being tax free does make it comparable to a higher income than it appears, but still she works to provide the sort of living she wants for her and her kids.

That’s good that she’s able to do that. At $2,300, she’s not 100%. Sounds like she’s close, though. Maybe 70-80%.

Please thank her for her service. 💐

He's definitely not the only conservative on this board that does this.

I would venture to guess that less than 5% of posts by conservatives/trump supporters/libertarians on these forums have any semblance of a factual assertion or thoughtful opinion.

I can name the people I consider reasonable right-lean folk on my fingers... and many have departed since I joined. It's worrying.

I regularly get into disagreements with left to moderate folk. I don't see that on the right, except the few that are not Trumpists. MAGA is the most worringly fungible belief system I've seen in my life but have seen in history; bumper-stricker rigid simplicity for everything and of course everything means that which is not MAGA.

Fasten any further seatbelts. This isn't even the first minute of the beginning. . . .

I live in louisiana. No need to tell me.

There is a forum dedicated mostly to LSU football (I think linking to it violates the rules here) but it also has a few other sub forums like politics and food etc.

One look at the politics section will absolutely ****ing terrify you. I mostly belong to the forum because it has a golf section and it's a great place to find out how the local golf courses are doing, which are in good shape etc. I wondered in to the politics section and posted a single very mild correction on a blatant lie. I was called a pedophile and threatened with a ban if I continued posting lies. Mind you that the post was regarding details in one of the trump indictments. I posted the section of the indictment that specifically listed out what they said was not in the indictment. Even with me posting a picture o the exact indictment, that's what happened.

I don't think people fully understand how many people's minds have been rotted by fox news and the new right wing blogosphere / internet personalities that have been born out of fox news.

The criteria isn’t merely that the disability be service-connected. It is also that she must be 70% disabled. I don’t see that reconciling with her status as a senator. If shes not too disabled to function as a senator then she’s not too disabled to pay her taxes.
What a piece of . . . [work] you are, @Napoleon. If the VA has rated her at at least 70% disability, and the state has exempted her from paying property tax on her home, what's your beef? If someone is able to rise above their circumstances and achieve as she has, you think they are what, gaming the system?

She flew into combat. She lost both her legs on YOUR BEHALF. You need to find a new target.

She lost her legs in a war that never should have happened. Not on my behalf. I didn’t send her there. She is working with a six figure salary. She should be paying taxes.

She does pay taxes.

Just not property taxes on her primary residence to say "Thank you for having both legs chopped off in service of your country".

Yes, you did, when you went to the polls and elected those who sent her. She answered the call, and she paid a heavy price. And you think she hasn't paid enough. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

I didn’t vote for anyone who sent her and I don’t believe in a class of super citizens who don’t have to pay property taxes.

If that is true, why did you lie about her eligibility for the property tax relief? You would have just said that. Instead, you made up a lie.

Right wingers lie about everything.

You can't shame him; it's a game.
