Euro 2016.

On the other hand, great atmosphere in the NI-Poland and Germany-Ukraine games.

The Turks could stand to learn a song or two though.

Good to see fake Ireland lose.

I'm aware of the danger of wandering into "no true Scotsman" territory, but banning teams for the actions of violent thugs who merely use the event to literally get their kicks, and care nothing about the team or their supporters, seems wrong.

dude a lot of them were at the stadium, the flare that was shot at english fans and the brawling were in the stadium. Clearly they do care about the team and they are the supporters. The only way to ensure safety is to have the game without spectators, other than player family, or to ban the teams altogether

As far as outside the stadium, france or future hosts should deny british and russian nationals entry into the country during tournaments

They're neo-nazis, who came prepared for fighting. The game is just their cover, the venue where they do the deed. They don't give a **** about the soccer, the violence is their sport.

Germany wasn't spectacular but solid. That's how they won the world cup.

Pathetic... were those people in wheelchairs clashing with French and Russian ultras & fans before the match or booing the Russian anthem and shouting obscenities at the Russian fans?!? English thugs just finally met their idiotic match, yet now instead of accepting that you decide to whine about it and play the "victims bullied by ebil Russians" card.

Fallen.

You really are totally delighted that your ultras humiliated and intimidated families with kids and English fans in wheelchairs. Nice! Those thugs in the stadium didn't take on the hooligans, they took on the family stand, leaving the English thugs and neo-Nazis to drink more and plan further mayhem. But if that's all a great victory for you, "meeting their idiotic match", then enjoy your great patriotic victory.

WTF?!?

Seriously, wtf is wrong with you?!? How many times should I explicitly state that I don't support Russian ultras or their actions. I even explicitly stated that they are equally idiotic to the English ultras, ffs you even highlighted that part. Do you have some kind of an English comprehension problem, or you just really, really, really want we to be the bad guy and start defending Russian ultras as it will fit with your little reality bubble or something.

EDIT: It's always interesting to see how people just keep assuming whatever fits their own preconceived narrative, even when the person they talk to explicitly says the opposite.

Fallen.

Big day today... First up the defending Champions, then Zlatan and then dark horse Belgium against the veteran Italy... 37 degrees outside, so staying in to watch all games!

LOL

“I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting,” Igor Lebedev wrote on Twitter. “Quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up!”

Lebedev, who sits on the executive committee of the Russian football union, is an MP from the nationalist Liberal Democratic party and the deputy chairman of the Russian parliament.

“I don’t understand those politicians and officials who are criticising our fans. We should defend them, and then we can sort it out when they come home,” Lebedev wrote in a series of tweets.

“What happened in Marseille and in other French towns is not the fault of fans, but about the inability of police to organise this kind of event properly.”

Talk about a dominant display from Spain.. the Czechs were 15 men behind the ball and defending for their lives. The goalkeeper was amazing as usual, but in the end they had to give. Utterly deserved win for Spain.

Great goal. Sweden have been abysmal though.

Well, for a long time it looked as though Ireland vs. Zlatan wasn't really the way for the Swedes to tailor their game. For the moment that seems to be working though.

Well, in the "real feel" Ireland was the winner. But 1:1 buys neither side anything.

Pity, Ireland had the passion and the courage that Sweden lacked.

English fans HAVE ZERO room to talk. You did the same **** in Dublin on Feb 15th, 1995.

Belgium vs Italy.. Fans are just as great as the Irish and Swedish ones... the Russians and English can learn there...

On paper two great teams.. until you see who the ref is... gaw not that idiot..

I dont get why Vermalen is in the team let alone playing. The guy has not played for 2 years.. and still managed to win more trophies than Arsenal has in 20 lol

1-0 Italy Giaccherini, what a great goal.
Best game so far.

I and many others thought Spain were awful. So boring and will get ripped apart by teams with some actual pace.

Well we have to disagree there.... They were far superior than the Czechs and should have won much more.

England should of beat Russia as well, doesn't mean they were good.
No one has really stood out for me yet.

Clattenberg is letting the Belgiums get away with a lot of crap... pathetic.

So far Germany and France has "stood out", with Spain just behind (simply because their finishing was so poor), and then England. But it is early, and all 3 games in the groups matter, so we shall see.
