Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla is forcefully removed from Noem’s news conference and handcuffed

Yeah, I have. You have not provided the bona fides that establish you as a credible source re what is protocol in secure Federal facilities.

I repeat: Your word that you are isn't sufficient.

I've not claimed to know the protocols in secure Federal facilities. You have, however, yet you lack credibility on this score.

Then do the work of proving that it's protocol to manhandle, to tackle to the floor, and to handcuff those who interrupt speakers in federal facilities.

Copies and pastes of excerpts from credible sources to which you provide the links.

It's not my claim, so I don't do the work.

Fine with me that you don't want to try to corroborate your claim that it's standard procedure for security details to manhandle, tackle to the floor, and handcuff those who interrupt speakers in secure Federal facilities.

Denigrate my posts all you want. All I've done is point out your opinions on this matter are merely your opinions. That, so far, they don't represent facts.

I don't do your work for you. Please ensure that your posts are informed in the future if you want me to take them seriously. The fact that you didn't know the following indicates significant under-preparation on your part for discussing the topic at hand:

1) Secure federal facilities have a security level system and the protocols are a matter of public record
2) Secure federal facilities require clearance for anyone, elected officials included, to be present in any part of the facility
3) Any person who doesn't possess such clearance is forcefully removed (You're free to test this on your own at any federal building of your choosing)
4) Any elected official would be fully informed of security protocols, so they would know exactly what would happen if they violated protocol

Again, it's not my job to do your work for you. Go ahead and take the last word, but since you are not making informed posts in good faith and are simply trying to get me to do your work for you, I will not be reading anything further.

The fascist state bares it's teeth.

From the same New York Times story:

Mr. Padilla was not detained, and he had a conversation with the secretary for about 10 to 15 minutes after the news conference, Ms. Noem said.

She said that it was inappropriate for him to approach without identifying himself. “I will say that people need to identify themselves before they start lunging at people,” she said.

According to the footage that was posted, the senator did identify himself, loudly, as he walked into the room and began asking a question that was quickly cut off mid-sentence.

Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, said that he had not been wearing his Senate security pin and that the U.S. Secret Service had taken him for an attacker. She accused him of engaging in “disrespectful political theater.”

Lunging was Noem's hyperbolic characterization. But Padilla's stunt did get him that private conversation with the secretary. The story also includes both Democratic and Republican attempts to use the incident as fodder against their opposites. (For my part, I mischaracterized the Secret Service as FBI agents. My error.)

Ah, so you cannot prove that it's standard procedure for those who interrupt speakers at press conferences to be manhandled, to be tackled and forced to the floor, and to be handcuffed by security details.

I suspected as much.
Doesn’t he work there. I believe his office is in building. 🤣

Fine by me that you have not been able to prove that it's standard procedure to manhandle, tackle to the floor, and handcuff people who interrupt speakers in Federal facilities.
No, I don't believe it is fine by you. You haven't even accurately described the sequence of events. Nor have you proven the Secret Service violated protocol or procedure. Try that.

Regardless, I am pretty sure both Kristi Noem and the secret service who accosted him knew full well who the **** he is. Trying to claim otherwise is vacuous and assinine.

Is that the path you want to take? Because it is quite telling if so.

It is the Secret Service's JOB to know that Padilla was there, you better believe that they knew who he was.

1) I've made no claims re what are and what are not security procedures in Federal buildings.

2) What I have done is point out the obvious: there is no reason that anyone here in cyberspace can assume you know what you're talking about when you comment on security procedures in Federal buildings.

3) Neither you nor I has the bona fides to be taken as credible when commenting on security procedures in Federal facilities.

4) Re your insistence that I should do the research to confirm your claims re what is and what isn't proper security procedures in Federal buildings: I don't do your homework. If you want to know the information, you do the work.

That the trump-vance-miller regime is supporting noem comes as no surprise. Unfortunately for MAGA, trump is a known serial liar. And vance has said that making things up in order to get a point across is acceptable. So, there's no reason to ascribe credibility to what anyone in this administration states.

Padilla identified himself. He asked a question. For that, noem's security detail manhandled him, tackled him to the floor, and handcuffed him.

Perhaps this over-reaction on the part of noem and her security detail seems appropriate to MAGA. That is doesn't seem appropriate to non-MAGAs here is evident.

Yep, I have. I've quoted extensively from a nytimes article. That you don't want to believe that Padilla was physically accosted by noem's security detail for the infraction of asking the trump Cabinet member a relevant question re the topic of her presser is your issue.

And I haven't said the security detail "violated protocol or procedure". So, that angle isn't going to fly.

That you seem to believe it's not only appropriate but is also acceptable for people who ask questions to be manhandled, tackled to the floor, and handcuffed by a group of security agents is on you.

I don't know whether Padilla's office is in the building, but you're correct: he was in the building at that time. Down the hall from noem's presser, I think.

Padilla was not accosted for asking a question, relevant or otherwise. He was removed and handcuffed because he was inappropriately approaching the podium while demanding to ask his question.

Somewhere there has to be a complete set of videos showing what happened. Of all places, a local television station showed a few seconds of just how close he got and certainly gives me the impression he was putting himself center stage. He provoked the response he received. That you fail to see that much is on you.

You've not proved your claim that Padilla was manhandled, tackled to the ground, and handcuffed because "he was inappropriately approaching the podium". The "word" of this administration isn't credible.. Remember, trump is a documented serial liar, and vance has said that making things up in order to prove a point is acceptable.

That you want to - perhaps need to - believe that Padilla brought this on himself is understandable. But your desire to believe this doesn't make it so.

You made the claim its up to you to prove it

Twist yourself into illogical pretzels all you like. Eye on the prize you said he aggressively asked his question (as if that is a crime Trumpco doesn't do on the hour), however reality pops your bubble of bullshit. Napkin?

The difference between our ability to be honest about facts is that I am objective and you are biased by partisan hatred. Pretty much that simple.

.

They tackled him. SOMEHOW he was pushed to the ground. And, of course, you've not provided proof that Padilla "physically resisted" obvious attempts to help him get to his feet. Nor have you provided proof that when more security agents arrived, Padilla "fought them".

Are you joking? Have you not seen any of the footage? He is lunging toward the speaker, actively resists LEOs and only AFTER he is being pushed back does he say who is but that is too late, LEOs MUST remove and detain him and find out what is going on. Could you imagine the outrage if LEO's just sat there as an assassin walks past them and shoots the speaker?

The video will be at the end.

All you have to do is prove your contention that no reporters have ever asked questions at a presser outside of the "question-and-answer phase".

Irrelevant. That is and has never been a major point of mine OTHER than to say, he could have just waited and been polite... but we can clearly see that he is an unhinged asshole.

All you have to do is prove Padilla didn't mention he is a US Senator until after security had tackled him to the ground and had handcuffed him and had removed him from the room.

Nope. Until after he was starting to be addressed by LEOs. That is also in this video.

I doubt those around the world who view the video come away with the feeling that the US Senator, whose crime was asking an inconvenient question of trump's Cabinet member during her press, is an "asshole". His being manhandled, tackled to the ground, and handcuffed for the offense of posing a question to one of trump's minions might not strike that many non-MAGA people as an appropriate or an acceptable punishment.

That is a very VERY biased and naive (and I use that term loosely) way of looking at the facts...

But MAGA Americans likely love this brutish display of raw power and thuggery on the part of the trump-vance-miller regime. Which could have been the point.

I don't know whether Padilla's office is in the building, but you're correct: he was in the building at that time. Down the hall from noem's presser, I think.

I believe that Senator Padilla has an office in DTLA, and the press conference was in the Federal Building on Wilshire Bl in Westwood (between Veteran and Sepulveda).

I don’t know the particulars about today’s security, but since 9/11 the general public just doesn’t open a door and enter the building. Restrictions are placed on who can use the huge parking lot (it once was a spot for free parking even if one had to walk blocks to reach Westwood Village). Even cutting across the expansive lawn in front of the building can have a security guard directing you elsewhere. It happened to me.

Based on my personal experiences around that building, there is no way a person can enter without scrutiny from security. Double that if a member of DJT’s cabinet is present.

No one has proved that Padilla "lunged toward" noem. (Video can be doctored. That's why I rely on credible print sources).

No one has proved that Padilla waited until the security unit laid its hands on him to identify himself. (Videos can be doctored. That's why I rely on credible print sources).

Call me whatever names make you feel good.

At no point in this video does he move forward. He is being pushed backwards.

How did he get to the front of the room by the podium then? You realize that we can see, right?

The audio in this is primarily Noem's mic - the first thing he did was give his name and background as a Senator.

Wrong. He does not say who he is until after he begins physically resisting.

.

That its normal for people to be strong armed at a presser when they ask a question particularly a Senator

Okay, now go ahead and quote the post where I made that claim.

We both know you won't, of course, because I never made that claim at all. So typical...

I like to be accurate... so biased will work just fine.

... and I have shown multiple videos...

Oh yes it does! Protest is not in the Constitution if it's violent. But the Constitution accepts non violent protest.

Not in private venues... and not in public if it is considered harassment or disruptive conduct.

Sometimes they are removed and other times not. There's no fixed rule on removing protesters.

And you agree with me. In this case he was removed.
