The face Of socialism is beautiful and promising and filled with hope but its soul is dark and deceiving and festering with evil.

Funny, the Star Trek universe seems pretty nice.

Seems like greedheads **** up socialism more than anything else. Top AND bottom.

One can substitute anything for 'socialism' in the OP___So what
Did that sentence really impress you?

On an individual level, occasionally___But on a blanket level, rarely if ever_

So what

Did that sentence really impress you?_
I was impressed by its simplicity and perfection as it relates to "socialism"_

I think every ideology has its catch-phrase___Whether sung by Lennon or Reagan_

Simplicity and perfection? That seems far too easily pleased___The sentence is a few adjectives thrown in such order as to present a fraud/liar/devil_

Any ideology could be demonized as such, with a thesaurus.

Utopia is always portrayed that way__It makes the promises more enticing_

Socialism is the sirens song.

Square in your ship's path are Sirens, crying
beauty to bewitch men coasting by;
woe to the innocent who hears that sound!
He will not see his lady nor his children
in joy, crowding about him, home from sea;
the Sirens will sing his mind away
on their sweet meadow lolling. There are bones
of dead men rotting in a pile beside them
and flayed skins shrivel around the spot.
Steer wide;
keep well to seaward; plug your oarsmen's ears
with beeswax kneaded soft; none of the rest
should hear that song.
But if you wish to listen,
let the men tie you in the lugger, hand
and foot, back to the mast, lashed to the mast,
so you may hear those harpies' thrilling voices;
shout as you will, begging to be untied,
your crew must only twist more line around you
and keep their stroke up, till the singers fade.

Doesn't seem rarely spoken.
The gist of that seems to be spouted quite often. The cry of "Socialism!" has become quite popular lately, afaict, imho. The exclamation mark being read as an "Eek!" rather than a "Yay!"
There also seem to be quite the plethora of theories as to why socialism has ostensibly become so pervasive in the US. A number of these theories involve the appeal of socialism to folks who don't see socialism for what it really is--or some very similar variation thereof.

So, rather than something that is "rarely spoken", I'd say that it's more of a common refrain.

all imho

A democratic republic is a representative gov voted by the people. It's partially socialistic in the form of safety nets for its citizens that are helpless and free market through protection of private industry. But part of the gov responsibilities are to protect people from the cumulative power of organizations and monopolized industries. And when the rule of market takes over all controls through subversion, then our gov teeters back and forth between the balance of social needs and industry needs. This is the great struggle occurring in today's governments. Do the needs of the many outweigh the rights of the few or is there a compromise?

The curious thing is - why do most of our allies in Western Europe embrace it in one form or another? And why do surveys show that the happiest citizens in the world tend to reside in some of those countries?

The World's Happiest Countries - Forbes.com

As Forbes says, '....they're all borderline sociailist countries...' Damn their evil hearts for being happy!:lamo

Apparently "rarely spoken" means "constantly shouted by idiots" now.

I hate it when I miss these memos.

I'm being serious. It should read "but the soul is doubleplussungood".
I suppose "doubleplussungood" is a PC approved alternative to "dark soul" to prevent the likelihood of offending a dark skinned person, although I can't imagine anyone of even moderate intelligence of being so easily offended_

It must be very stressful to go through life censoring, editing, and adjusting your choice of words in fear of violating some taboo or restriction of Political Correctness, although it may have become second nature from years of compliance_

I for one don't envy your self imposed speech restrictions and I'm sure you can understand why I wouldn't impose them on myself__I rather enjoy the freedom to choose the words that best coveys the passion of my feelings and convictions_

Wow, you surprised me there! You think dark-skinned people have moderate intelligence! You're moving in the right direction!

P.S. if you actually read 1984, you should know why Spud referenced "doubleplusungood."

Damned skippy. I just wish those honkey breeder retards that yammer incessantly about sky-daddy and zombie boy would stop whining about it when I tell them that they are ****ing morons.

Is there a point here?

Wait... you don't know what "doubleplusungood" refers to? :lol:

As far as your comment goes, there never has been a true socialist state. Always turns authoritarian. Most people who are not ideologues are aware of that.
