About that House Intelligence Committee report on Benghazi, Part III

All of the above analysis is based on a straightforward acceptance of the HIC report, though. Stephen Hayes takes a much closer and critical look at the document for The Weekly Standard, and finds huge holes in the work — and blames it on the outgoing chair of the committee, Mike Rogers:

The revelations even roused the establishment media from their Benghazi torpor and generated extraordinarily hostile questioning of White House press secretary Jay Carney by reporters who had trusted his claims of administration noninvolvement. None of this convinced Rogers to make Benghazi a priority—a fact that frustrated many of the committee’s members. Boehner received a steady stream of visits and phone calls from House members who complained that Rogers wasn’t doing his job. In all, seven members of the intelligence committee took their concerns directly to the speaker or his top aides......snip~

But you can convince enough of the public that you are still the lesser of two evils and simply got fooled by someone else - see Solyndra, VA, GSA, IRS and fast & fuzzy "scandals". There is no such thing as individual accountability in the maze of the federal "chain of command" - the buck never stops, it just gets diverted.

It appears you have decided you can't...

You can.

I have watched politics for most of my life, reported on it for 25 of my years, and to quote the biggest example of what apathy gets you, Barack Obama, "yes you can". We have done it

Great another Benghazi thread. We haven't beat the dead horse with this one yet.

I understand you're sick of it, but it's the principle of the matter. The government needs to be held accountable. This shouldn't be partisan, this should be universal.

Labeling this a "fake scandal" or brushing it off as annoying shouldn't be the American thing to do. We should be holding ANYONE in office that's corrupt, or lying, accountable.

The 1998 United States embassy bombings were a series of attacks that occurred on 7 August 1998, in which hundreds of people were killed in simultaneous truck bomb explosions at the embassies of the United States in two East African cities – the Embassy in Dar es Salaam, the largest city of Tanzania, and the embassy in Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya.[1] The attacks, which were linked to local members of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, brought Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri—and their terrorist organisation al-Qaeda—to the attention of the American public for the first time, and resulted in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) placing bin Laden on its ten most-wanted fugitives list. The FBI also connected the attack to Azerbaijan, as 60 calls regarding the strike were placed via satellite phone by bin Laden to associates in the country's capital Baku.[2] Fazul Abdullah Mohammed and Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah were credited for being the masterminds behind the bombings.[3][4][5]

Aftermath at the U.S. embassy in Nairobi

On 7 August, between 10:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. local time (3:30–3:40 a.m. EST), suicide bombers in trucks laden with explosives parked outside the embassies in Dar es Salaam and Nairobi, and almost simultaneously detonated.[15] 213 people were killed in the Nairobi blast, while 11 were killed in Dar es Salaam.[16] An estimated 4,000 in Nairobi were wounded, and another 85 in Dar es Salaam.[citation needed] Seismological readings analysed after the bombs indicated energy of between 3–17 tons of high explosive material.[17] Although the attacks were directed at American facilities, the vast majority of casualties were local citizens; 12 Americans were killed,[18] including two Central Intelligence Agency employees in the Nairobi embassy, Tom Shah and Molly Huckaby Hardy,[19] and one U.S. Marine, Sergeant Jesse Aliganga, a Marine Security Guard at the Nairobi embassy.[20][21] U.S. Army Sergeant Kenneth R. Hobson II was one of the 12 Americans killed in the attack.....snip~

I do not understand. How do a series of terrorist attacks 17 years ago in the Clinton administration have anything to do with how Hillary lied and appears to have covered up an investigation into a terrorist attack, an attack which has still not been avenged....

There simply is NO comparison to the negligence of this administration

4000 wounded and here was the Clincher at one Embassy alone.....the Embassies lacked Security. Guess who used the same excuses about not being funded and then stating they took Responsibility.....put in new methods for security and thought it would never happen again?

That's Right.....The Democrats!!!!!

Government hasn't been held accountable ever in my lifetime. It seems funny to all of a sudden care about accountability.

Susan Rice was the one on point......giving lectures back with Bilbo. Just like she did making the round about the Internet Video with Team BO. Almost to an exact duplication of the first go around. ;)

That would be a pretty sad commentary, if it was believable.

Heya CJ. :2wave: What is believable now is.....we can also take out Hillary's Attack Watchdog, Cheryl Mills.....while going for Susan Rice and running that POS out of government permanently!!!!!

That's a good attitude to have. I'm sure we'll go into a better direction with your attitude. You aren't being a "realist", you're just conforming to the notion that no one will be held accountable, so who cares.

Sad.

Evidently this horse isn't dead and there are a few lying jackasses that need to be held accountable.

Not at all. I just find it hilarious that both parties try to act like they hold the other accountable by latching onto stuff like this then overlook other things that are equally as bad by there side. I vote and support real accountability, and I think it is possible to get, but people stuck in a 2 party system hold us back from that.

Looks like BO will let it divert towards Hillary.....then his true chosen can run. You know the Woman that says she was a Native American.

Once the rest of the Demos find out.....it will be all hands on Hillary deck, and abandon ship.

Thanks for that but I saw it developed out of more "Bush did it too" crap.

Again, we deal with the defenders of the man who promised "hope and change" and their every defense is "Bush or whoever did it too"

Yeah I know.....but like back then. The Demos let security slack tried to blame Repubs. Then said they took responsibility and solved the problem.

Course now we see how that worked out.

The voters didn't care about Benghazi when it happened and they sure as hell aren't going to care about it in 2016.

Interesting defense....one that exhibits the true cynicism of the Obama socialists. all that matters is wining, not the welfare of the people or the brave who serve. Three marines and one highly respected diplomat were slaughtered and not one defender of Obama cares one wit.... "we won, yu lost".
However, the voters did not know about "you can keep your plan" then, they did not know Obama was arming rebels nor that he planned to create jobs for terrorists while Americans were losing their jobs because of Obamacare.

What is most strange, is that innocent people usually welcome a chance to set the record straight, like the recently vilified and vindicate Mr. O'Reilly, ...but Obama and his lemmings only howl "nothing there"...and have been for over two years and now we have evidence of a cover up at the highest level at State. And that was before the voters denied you control of both houses.

This is how Watergate unfolded, that too took a couple of years to unfold amid the administration scoffing "nothing there". If that taught me anything it is where there is smoke there is fire....and Obama's mighty star making machinery and all of the resources of the Democratic party have not been able to quench the smoke.

I would be worried, but for the sake of America I am glad you are not. Nixon's people weren't either, until they were.

Even more interesting is how Hillary wont have any defense......unless she is going to say she let Cheryl use her Email address. Wonder if Hillary's spokesperson has sounded off yet?

Oh, there will be a sniper story in there somewhere. Maybe her computer was stolen or "I was asleep, it could have been anybody.."

The spokesperson is getting a prescription for Busiprone ...look it up.

You have more faith in the American public than I do. Very few are as locked into political issues as those of us here on DP. With Hillary being in the witness protection program right now, this can likely be gone in one or two news cycles if it isn't pushed and there's not much that convinces me the MSM will be interested in pushing it - they're consumed now with the DHS budget games.

The other good news is.....Hillary said she would return to testify before Gowdy. Which Cummings and others came out and said she would. Now with this coming out. She might change her mind.

That will be a show...

However, Republicans have traditionally underestimated her. The last time she took a swim and came up dry as a bone and they let her. The "what difference, at this point, does it make" became a war cry for the left. She won game one. Now they have to show they can skate as well as score....
