55 years post Woodstock

There was a very big divide between the boomers and the great generation but kids, the boomers respected the great generation.
that is so wrong. the concert was an anti-war demonstration, those boomers were protesting a war that their parents got them into.

I'm genx, I directly witnessed the anti-war movement, I saw my older brother going through all of his options to avoid the draft. there was and still remains a huge divide between those gens over vietnam. its absurd to argue otherwise. the entire vietnam experience, including nixons deceptions, caused a massive long term anti-authority pov by boomers. it was a defining moment for their generation.

The mantra of my generation was do your own thing and question authority. It was peace, love and understanding and viewing the world in a colorblind way and with a liberal attitude

For Today's generation it is "do OUR thing or we will make you pay". It is "how DARE you question our woke religion!". It is about understanding nothing, hating anything that does match in absolute lockstep and viewing the world in a primitive way where color is just about all that does matter.
See I can remember John Sinclair’s 10 for 2. I remember the Hard Hats beating up on Vietnam protesters on national TeeVee, I remember the FBI photographing anyone entering the radical book shop. I remember Fred Hampton & Leonard Peltier, Easy Rider. I also remember warring out my own Levi’s.😇
I’m thinking that Boomers who are now jerks were jerks back then. 🥜🤡

It is 55 years today since Woodstock was taking place.

Watching the movie again, the contrast between kids today and kids back then was startlingly

I am very serious, where and why we go off tracks?
Life was not nearly as cushy as today and there was not way way more going on.

There was a very big divide between the boomers and the great generation but kids, the boomers respected the great generation.

Today, the word respect is lost post boomers. Maybe because they never had to go to war as the boomers did?

Honestly, what has gone wrong with our youth?

You're talking about Woodstock and you're asking what's gone wrong with our youth?

Consider that the majority of those boomers at Woodstock where high on substances, it's not a great example.

Some of those boomers became very successful in the 80's. So much for love and peace, money always wins out.

Me too. Hitchhiked to NOLA. Got a job driving piles.
Oh ya

I was hitch hiking at 16, on reflection not a wise decision. I got a few stories of perverts and weirdos I could repeat from those days. And yes I am a man, unbelievable that young women where also sticking out there thumbs on a street.

Wow I was naive

How much kudos do people think they deserve for turning up to a music festival?

Why on earth would I let boomers go in front of me at stores. And there was a lot of complaining from you guys after Vietnam. "Oh we didn't get a warm welcome back" BOO ****ING HOO. Crybaby generation and now they're mad that we don't call you sir?
It was not the lack of a warm welcome our Vietnam Vets take issue with, it's the down right disrespect they received from there fellow Americans and the Veterans Administration when they returned home.

Most Vietnam Vets where drafted, forced to go to war, and to return home to be spit on, called baby killers, that is out of order.

Life was not nearly as cushy as today
in 1965, dad was a tech, not an engineer, at a large semiconductor plant. 7 person household, middle class, one income source, owns home, pension, great HI for entire family, new car every two years, steaks, vacations, sporting events.....

I LOVE Nola.

My only problem with it is that every time I visit, I leave 10 pounds heavier!

Damn near everything happened in 1969. People don’t seem to realize it but so much happened in 1969.

I was in Vietnam in 1969 and whenever people talk about that era, whatever the subject, it happened that year and I experienced none of it.

I wish I could have been there. I’ll be forever jealous of everyone who made it to Woodstock or lived in the US then. I know it was awesome. ✌️

33% of homeless people are veterans.

Almost 50% of homeless veterans were Vietnam War veterans, or Vietnam-era Vets.

There are anywhere from 50,000 to 200,000 vets a night who are on the street.

Approximately 400,000 veterans experience homelessness during the year.
