Will Smith attacks Chris Rocks at the Oscars

That looked real to me. especially considering Smith's behavior after he sat down.

What's weird is this is the same guy who lets other men sleep with his wife. bizarre.
Actually fair is fair, I looked up some talk show statements those two have made and you’re right: it does look like they got some weird stuff going on in their marriage. I don’t see the relevance but it does look true.

I consider this a sad moment in the oscars, even though it’s the kind of garbage viewers want these days. Given Jada Smith has a health condition affecting her appearance, Chris rock was outta line. He should have checked if he didn’t know.

Will Smith was waaay out of line though. I respect him as an actor and admired many of his performances. This would be his worst. What a sniveling prima Donna. He’s there nominated for best actor and he throws a shit fit over a lame joke.

Covid has been hard on a lot of people. They have lost careers, businesses, life savings, homes and relatives. I got laid off and had to work several jobs I hated with people frankly I wish I had never met. There were times in the third one in particular I would love to have slapped an individual (or at least sworn at them) and stormed out, but normal working people do not have the luxury that celebrities enjoy - we are accountable.

I held my tongue, waited for industries to rebound and got my old job back finally but I regret, sincerely regret not being able to throw a shit fit like Mr Smith, even though my patience has served me better. It would have been devastating to my career, but this won’t affect Smith’s at all.

Famous people need to get their heads out of their own asses and live by the same constraints as the same rules as the rest of us.

Calling bullshit on Jada Smith.
ALOPECIA does NOT LOOK LIKE THIS

May be an image of 1 person

THIS is what alopecia looks like in women.
Your hair is literally GONE...you don't have stubble, you have NOTHING.

May be an image of 1 person and long hair

People made fun of Sarah Palin’a Down Syndrome son and we were told, at the time, to suck it up and there’s no right to not be offended.
By "people," do you mean (mostly) anonymous, random people on the internet? Yeah, you gotta suck up the internet.

It's the way it usually goes when X Factor (or really any other Trumpist) plays The Hypocrite Game. First comes the blind assertion that "the left" or some unidentified huge-sounding group of people do some horrible thing and are hypocrits for criticizing someone else who did that kind of thing.

- Usually you can run a DP search and find myriad posts in which X Factor does the exact thing X Factor is baselessly accusing "the left" of.

- And you can inspect your memories / other threads, where you will see X Factor utterly fails to call out anyone on the right for doing the same thing X Factor is accusing "the left" of.

Finally comes the denouement: at best, some other Trumpist rides to the rescue with a cite to something done by this one guy over here, though here we don't even have that.

Bill Maher is one of those anonymous people who took a shot at Palin’s son, while Letterman took one at Palin’s daughter. Letterman’s joke was something about how the then eighteen year old got knocked up, though he didn’t specify and many people thought DL was attacking SP’s younger daughter, then 14.

You totally "pwned the libtards."

That's a good point.
I am bald but I do not have alopecia.
I just have male pattern baldness.
Having an "egg in the nest" isn't alopecia because I can still feel and see hair growing in the bald spots.
There isn't a square inch of my head that doesn't have hair follicles, it's just that on the top of my head they don't grow very much before falling out.

And if one has Will and Jada Smith money, or even a fraction of that much, I guarantee you ten thousand bucks and you will once again HAVE a full head of hair.

Yeah,.. the slap is bad enough but then to sit there and scream "keep my wife's name outa your mouth" TWICE is idiotic.

And what about women being empowered? It is not like she was being attacked in a dark ally... can't she defend her own feelings?

That's it...women should be feeling more empowered. Jada could have been, not to violence but to stand up for herself...or choose to rise above it.

Smith acted like a bit of a neanderthal. No self-control, chest-beating kinda stuff.

The way it sounds in reality is more like she made the decision and he went along with it.
Wife had that interview running on TV one day and it doesn't look like he was entirely in favor of her arrangement.

Black on Black violence ... not anything new
Exactly! Good lordy, what if Mel Gibson had bitch slapped an African-American man at the Oscars, there would rioting in the streets.

Viewership for the Oscars has been waaaaay down over the last years. People have grown weary of all of the far left liberal pandering, and back in 2016 when there was this protest about "#why so White?" started by Will Smith's wife complaining about not enough "inclusion" in Hollywood; the Academy made some changes to appease the complainers. But that did not result in more viewers, only fewer.

The Academy has gone down the same woke appeasement cul-de-sac as the NFL and the NBA. Who really finds all of that shit entertaining? Normal people don't.

Unfortunately, Smith has outed himself as just another angry black person who resorts to violence far too easily, which is a pity as most black people do not behave in such a disgraceful manner.

Easier than a white person?

That is the consensus of the Swedish reporting on the issue ; that it was staged to boost their ratings. But not the ratings of Will Smith, but the ratings of the Oscars

How would it boost ratings? TV audience didnt know it was going to happen.

Yes, it was a wig. Last year Jada came out publicly and said she shaved her head due to alopecia. People need to read up on alopecia before commenting.

Yeah, people DO need to read up on it because alopecia does not look like this:

If you have stubble that thick, you can grow hair and furthermore, a ten thousand dollar series of treatments and your hair will be back.
I'm sure the Smiths can afford to visit a clinic that takes care of that. People of lesser means do it every day.

Not at all.

But alot of people are in jail for assault covering the whole realm of physical confrontation. The statement that "women don't like men who hit" is simply not true in every situation. One person I'm about to go talk to is here because there was an EPO filed against him. The reason he was arrested was because of a traffic stop....and one of the passengers in the car was the person who filed the EPO...a female.

Women dont like men who hit. I stand by that. They may accept it, dysfunctionally, in a relationship, but they dont find that as attractive when searching for a guy. They dont go looking for that.

And I'm not talking about S&M play.

Then the Oscars must be absolutely desperate if what they're relying on is a Jerry Springer Show type of program. What an absolute embarrassment for a once prestigious event reduced to actors slapping each other.

Same can be said about our elections, those have been Jerry Springer writ large for a while now.

Chris Rock is a stand up comedian. If the joke didn't get a laugh, then that would be his only failure. Nobody is off limits in a stand up routine, that is Rock's job.

Had Rock been poking fun of Sarah Palin, Melania Trump, or the Queen of England, would liberals be upset by that? What makes Jada Smith feel that she is anyone special?

It isn't like Jada Smith is bald due to cancer treatment, she has hair--- she just chooses to cut it short because her hair is thinning a bit. Some people many not find the joke to be funny, but it was intended as a joke nonetheless. Will Smith acted like a child.... no class at all.

I doubt that is what we should be doing wholesale. But I think if you go up to the guy who insulted your wife who has a medical condition and beat the living shit out of them...you're not completely wrong.
In a bar maybe. From a comedian? Nope

What he did is what real men do when their wife is being made a butt end of a joke due to her current health condition. G-d help all the wives who live with wimps.

You supported Ted Cruz, who allowed your other crush Trump to insult his wife's looks, and you think anyone is buying your fake outrage?

She is an entitled complainig attention wh... you know what. And why the G.I. Jane joke was not off limits. This one has used all sorts of attention getting over the years to make up for her lackluster career. I think it funny that Rock made fun of that. That is his job.

I also didn't think it was particularly mean spirited either. I don't think this is a liberal/conservative issue, but just one where a person took things way too far, and that whole notion of "defending family" was a load of bollocks because that's not how you do it for that particular situation.

Yep, and Trump also tied Cruz's father to the JFK assassination if I remember correctly. What Chris Rock said was not a disparaging remark against her looks; Trump's tweet of Heidi Cruz and Melania Trump was clearly that.
