Dear Leader is an idiot, an incompetent, and an insufferable narcissist--and that's on his good days.
That said, Dear Leader's words have never motivated anyone to do anything of substance, nor will they have any such effect now.
If there are new terror attacks in the Middle East, it won't be because Dear Leader decided to give yet another speech about himself.

Shouldn't we hear it before deciding? Hopefully he won't talk about how morally deprived and crappy we were as a country before he rescued us from our deviant deviant ways. Clearly that is his favorite topic.
I read the transcript. He didn't. It was actually quite a good speech.
And finally, just as America can never tolerate violence by extremists, we must never alter our principles. 9/11 was an enormous trauma to our country. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases, it led us to act contrary to our ideals. We are taking concrete actions to change course. I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States, and I have ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed by early next year.
From most intel reports that have made way into the media, since Obama has taken office new recruits for Al-Qaida have been down, the Taliban as well. Thus, bin Laden's new recording to tell Muslims not to trust Obama. So I would argue that his stance is working.
What good does his speech do? They don't understand the nuances of the English language.

And Bush was speaking to a leftish Israeli government.Well it depends. If he tells Israel harshly to stop the settlements and Israeli ignores him and we continue to support Israel (which we will) they'll soon realize he's full of empty platitudes.
I remember Bush talking about how the settlements were an impediment to peace or progress. I don't recall him saying they were unacceptable or being so harsh publicly.
I'm not sure that was a good idea.

Bush said he would use his trip to keep pressure on both sides, including making clear to Israelis his concern about Jewish settlement activity. Peace talks ahead of Bush's visit have been soured by disputes over continuing settlement construction on occupied land.
"I will talk about Israeli settlement expansion, about how that is, that can be, you know, an impediment to success," he said. "The unauthorized outposts for example need to be dismantled, like the Israelis said they would do."

What he didn't do is make any demands, ultimatums, or threats.
Now Obama really didn't either because although he stated pretty severely that Israel needs to stop he also stated unequivocally that the bond between the US and Israel will not be broken. Thus, empty platitudes.
This has been my huge disagreement with our handling of Israel and the Middle East myself. If Israel is not going to do what we want, why do we keep supporting them?
I really don't think there is going to be peace in the ME, and all we do by our involvement is look foolish. Time to back out and let them work out there own damnation.
