The fact that women are attracted to violent criminals and dangerous psychopaths is a fact that cannot be denied. Women seem to be drawn to aggressive bullies, violent criminals, dangerous psychopaths, mass murderers, and drug-crazed gang-bangers. As a matter of fact, some of the world's most dangerous criminals, such as Al Capone, Pablo Escobar or Ted Bundy, always seemed to attract the most beautiful women. Even some of the biggest, most violent and bloodthirsty gangs in the contemporary world, such as La Mara Salvatrucha in El Salvador or the L.A.-based Bloods in the U.S., seem to attract hordes of female admirers known as "honey traps".
Many mass murderers sitting in jail cells all around the world are constantly inundated with letters from women declaring love at first sight and proposing marriage. Most recently the younger of the two Boston bombers has attracted a following among young women on social networks who think he's cute. Even if these thugs and gangsters have nothing else to offer, especially in terms of money or other resources, many women still seem drawn to these men like flies on ****. If women are supposedly attracted to men of the highest genetic quality, then why are so many women attracted to men of obviously low genetic quality like dangerous criminals and violent psychopaths?
It seems that women are not designed to select men on the basis of any kind of genetic superiority whatsoever, but to evaluate a man solely on his ability to provide or his abiltiy to protect due to the phenomenon of greater female parental investment. Or is it the other way around? Is it possible that women are designed to select men on the basis of genetic fitness, but whether they do so effectively or not is an entirely different matter altogether? Is there a possible sociobiological explanation that can account for why so many women find violent criminals attractive?

:rofl So many? No link?
It does happen but it's not just from women.

Well - for one - you need to provide your research sources so I can read up on what you've educated yourself with.
You seem to be taking a small number of people who are drawn to dark and dangerous people and coming to the conclusion that a lot of women are of this nature . . . and we're not. Most of us are not like that.
Further - why do you conclude that only (what you claim to be a lot) of women are attracted to such men? Why aren't men (some or a lot) seen as being attracted to dangerous or dark women? I'm sure they are - it's illogical to imagine that they're not.
Also - a gangster of the public-fame type isn't the same as a street thug who killed a lot of people. A public-fame figure like Capone had 1) faithful support from men and women in a close nit community of sorts. 2) money. 3) notoriety.
My knee jerk response: is that anyone attracted to the likes of Ted Bundy or Dana Grey because of their sordid pasts have serious mental issues.
I'm not providing you with links. Do your own research. Everything I've said is true. Serial killers in prison receive bags of letters from women. Gangsters with money and power attract women who turn a blind eye to the way these thugs earn their money. I've observed first-hand that women are attracted to bullies and punks and will choose these men over so called "nice guys". Women are behind most of the violence in the world because they only want dominant alpha males, so men are forced to struggle/fight/die for status in order to get a woman.

I just loved the phrase "so many though. As if the majority of women pursue violent criminals and psychopaths.

I actually did a mini-experiment on this phenomenon. Not scientific, but interesting. Years ago, I found that several of my female teenage clients only dated "bad boys", while several of my male teenage clients who were "nice guys" couldn't get a girlfriend. So, I asked the females what their reasoning was. Universally, their answer was something like this: They felt that if these guys were mean and nasty to them... even to the point of violence, it mean that if someone ELSE was mean to them, the guys would protect them. What it really denoted was the incredibly low self esteem of these girls and their rejection of the possibility of them protecting themselves to the point of not being independent. What I also found was that girls who's self esteem was stronger, they had little or not lure to these "bad boys. Also, the girls who liked the "bad boys" when their self esteem became stronger, the lure significantly reduced or was extinguished.
So, at least in my observation, Graffias premise is nothing but an overgeneralization and he fails to examine the specific causes of these behaviors... but of course, since he refuses to substantiate, probably because he can't, his position on this is moot.
Well, for myself I would think that such would have to be broken down by Race as just one factor. But even then how would they determine most. As environment I would think plays a role too.
Lets take a look at what some may say. Since the Graffias didn't provide any type of info. I also was interested in this phenomenon. Especially when growing up with and around women that seemed to be drawn to the stereotype.
Why Women Choose Bad Boys.....
I don't buy this: hormones do not convince those women that a prisoner behind bars for murder is a good father figure. These women just have serious issues. They might THINK that way - but it's illogical and in no way fostered by nature to seek out the guy who can't BE a father.Women choose bad boys because their hormones make them, new research suggests. When ovulating a woman's hormones influence who she sees as good potential fathers, and they specifically pick sexier men over obviously more dependable men.
"Previous research has shown in the week near ovulation women become attracted to sexy, rebellious and handsome men like George Clooney or James Bond," study researcher Kristina Durante, of The University of Texas at San Antonio, said in a statement. "But until now it was unclear why women would ever think it's wise to pursue long-term relationships with these kinds of men."
...
The researchers had women view online dating profiles of either a sexy man or a reliable man during periods of both high and low fertility. Participants were asked to indicate the expected paternal contribution from the men if they had a child together based on how helpful the man would be caring for the baby, shopping for food, cooking and contributing to household chores. Near ovulation women thought that the sexy man would contribute more to these domestic duties.
Define sexy, though - even the article and research fails to do this. I don't find George Clooney sexy - nor is he a bad boy. He's an actor (a very bad one). James Bond? He's a character played by several people, and no. Sean Connery as James Bond, yes . . . and he's not a thug in a prison cell. As this character: he's refined, sophisticated, daring, and an undercover agent.
The research just doesn't explain why some women do like these men: and note - that the majority DO NOT.
One thing I do see that stands out (which wasn't discussed in the research) is personality and character traits that women might be drawn to:
1) Confident
2) Charisma
3) Well informed on things the female knows little of
4) Has a sense of adventure
5) People respect said individual
Thinking through people I know who are in prison - and ones who are not - but would be considered 'sexy' by loose standards - they do have this in common.
Basically: they're not shy, geeky, unpopular, or unadventurous.
In fact - it seems that they're just not boring people.
I wouldn't know how this applies to reality for these women - but thats what I see when I analyze it critically and am a bit bummed that science didn't find these similar traits and it, instead, defaulted to 'good father figure' - HAH - if a mother falls for a prisoner she's not looking for a father figure, she's looking for a good hard **** on personal-day from a guy who needs it but isn't available otherwise and thus - isn't a factor in her life at all. (that's the appeal I see, anyway)
But hey - take my yap with a grain of salt. I don't find troublemakers to be remotely tolerable as people. My hormones say 'if he murdered his best friend he'll probably murder you, and your kids, so steer clear' - is that not the logical, natural response to such people? Somewhere a long the way - this natural response that most people feel found itself off track for these women. Maybe their fathers WERE horrible people?
I watched a few episodes of 'Prison Dads' or whatever it was and that's what it seemed to me: these women were the bottom dregs of society and desperate to be involved with someone, and sought out prisoners because the real-life well tapped dry. The women themselves were two steps shy of being in jail because of lifestyle choices.
And if that's the type of woman the OP is lamenting the loss of: he's better off without one of them. If a women finds a parolee appealing because he's out for time served after armed robbery then why do you WANT her to like YOU? Yeesh. Be thankful - and find the nice girl.

Well that's what they discovered out of San Antonio and their Study. Lets see what some others say.
Self assurance is defined as sexy when looking at the bad boys. There is even a related study concerning men that smile.
New Study Shows Why Women Are Attracted to "Bad Boys".....
A new study shows that " Women find happy guys significantly less sexually attractive than swaggering or brooding men which helps to explain the enduring allure of "bad boys" and other iconic gender types."
"The study found that women were least attracted to smiling, happy men, preferring those who looked proud and powerful or moody and ashamed."
Wait - so woman complain they can't find a good man, but are attracted to men who are the equivalent of human dynamite for any relationship? You never know when they may blow up?
The answer is yes.
Plus, you wonder why men and women have trouble getting along. Men want the exact opposite of what women want.
"In contrast, male participants were most sexually attracted to women who looked happy, and least attracted to women who appeared proud and confident."
" Research has associated smiling with a lack of dominance, which is consistent with traditional gender norms of the "submissive and vulnerable" woman, but inconsistent with "strong, silent" man, the researchers say.
Overall, the researchers found that men ranked women more attractive than women ranked men.".....snip~
