Oh good grief. I'd rather stab myself in the eye with a shrimp fork than have to sit through a NASCAR race. I don't get it. I don't. Who gets enjoyment out of sitting in the bleachers, in the scorching heat, next to a woman with more empty beer cans around her than she has teeth, watching a bunch of cars run around a track 200 times?
I'd rather watch paint dry. The only interesting thing about NASCAR is when they have wrecks. Compile a couple hundred of the best wrecks, and I'll watch. Otherwise, I'll pass.
I just got back from watching it, I couldn't honestly find any weak points. The special effects were good, IMO they paid homage to the original in every way possible. I loved it.
So what did she think about it? To me it was more creepy than scary but I liked the way they presented the vampire, it wasnt your typical Eastern vampire with a cape versus the good guys with wooden stakes. The boy she was with was a complex character- he seemed to be a budding serial killer so it was a match made in heaven, so to speak. I didnt even bother to watch the remake, it would have been totally redundant, like the recent Thing remake.
It's one of my favorite monster movies. It's old but still really good. It's one of those movies like The Shining that I'll watch anytime it's on usually.

 Yeah, it's pretty gross, but those kind of movies don't bother me like slasher flicks. I hate slasher flicks. I'll take a good monster or ghost movie any day.

I would really LOVE to see the new Godzilla movie. It looks really awesome. If anyone sees it, a review would be nice. I've heard that some critics have given it not such good reviews, but they are often times wrong IMO.
I give it 4 out 5 stars. Could it be improved? Yes. More Godzilla. After all the movie is named after him. He is in about half the flic. This Godzilla stays pretty close to the TOHO stuff, IE it isn't like that stupid 98 movie with Broderick. I like Broderick as an actor, I hated the 98 Godzilla farce movie. The 2014 version on the other hand I believe to be the best iteration of Godzilla, and a true Godzilla movie even if it isn't Japanese. Godzilla movies are supposed to be popcorn flicks and for the most part this one is. I think they over did it a bit with the human drama myself as that part of the story they didn't make too compelling they could have done it better more along the line of the originals or had a better premise. However that said I am thinking about seeing it for a second time. It is by no means a perfect movie. It is however a good one that will entertain for 2hrs 10minutes and be worth the price of admission. Do note I love Godzilla movies so this is a biased review. I have feeling though just from the reaction of the theater crowd this movie is going to hit a home run finacially.
Were the special effects really good? To be honest, that is really the reason why I watch those kind of monster movies, more so than any kind of plot.

Me too. I was very disappointed with that version of the movie. I can't really pinpoint what it was I didn't like, but something about it was just not good.

The wife and kid subplot was totally lame and unnecessary, I wish Walter White didnt die so quickly, I would have preferred him to stay alive and get vindicated for being proved right and he teamed up with Ken Watanabe to fight the MUTOs rather than his boring son doing it. And I wanted more fighting with Godzilla, it felt like it was just doing a cameo rather than the movie being about it.
Just saw Godzilla. It was ****ing awesome. Not only was the film highly entertaining, but it was really respectful of the original film, and the franchise. I'm going to see it again.
Just got back from seeing Godzilla in IMAX 3D. Overall, I liked it.
It wasn't great per se, but it was certainly entertaining.
Thankfully, Godzilla himself was amazing, which made the last half hour or so of the movie really fun to watch. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough of him.
I also didn't really care for the design of the other monsters. They grew on me as the movie went on, but my reaction never got much better than "meh."
Bryan Cranston died waaaay too soon, and the main character was sort of bland.
I also found the military's incompetence to be somewhat annoying. None of their plans made any sense whatsoever.
The ads really don't do it justice. Bryan Cranston was phenomenal in his role, it focused a bit more on character development than past Godzilla movies but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, Godzilla was impressive, looked like his old form hit the gym and buffed up a bit, but all around I thought it felt like a Godzilla movie and the special effects were cool as hell.

I kind of like the way they did it, sets it up for a sequel with more Godzilla, but the character development to me gave more of a reason for the monsters to exist. Sure, I would have loved more Godzilla, but for a sequel they can just unleash him earlier and go from there, we now know why he is here. I actually loved the MUTOs design, reminded me of that 50s/60s cheesy monster design.

If you liked it that much you really should try to catch Monsters. Edwards made it for $500,000 and it's a terrific movie. He created the effects literally in his bedroom.
