What happens after death?

I think the reason so many near-death experiences have people walking down a dark corridor towards a light is that the tunnel is space/time and no matter when you die in this dimension, we all arrive at the light (heaven?) at the same time.

We all came from the light to which we return with new souls.

Or because that's what you see when your brain is deprived of oxygen. Why does it need a mystical connotation?

I think too many people see the exact same thing for it to be a random hallucination from hypoxia.
It doesn't need a mystical connotation but just saying 'we all take a dirt nap' is a little hopeless.
Because if that's true, then there's nothing lost in having hope beforehand.

What exact same thing? There is no consistent universal experience, people see what is culturally or personally relevant. I think real hope is better than false hope. Hope for the future and what we can accomplish once we stop all the medieval squabbles.

There's no consistent experience because most people don't come back. Hope in life after death is still hope.

I know what it's like to almost die, and a vast majority experience the same thing as me, no memory whatsoever.

I think, those who believe in Christ, their souls are taken to heaven.
I'm thinking of the thief who was crucified with Him. He took the thief with Him at the moment of death.

Maybe - at the time of Resurrection, our earthly bodies are resurrected and reunited with our souls.

Did he? Jesus was in hell for 3 days, so that is impossible...Lazarus was dead for 4 days...no complaint of being in heaven and brought back to earth or expressing relief from being rescued from hell, upon his resurrection...

Small problem is that no experiment has yet to show a destruction of energy .
Just a change . Transformation , if you prefer .

'Conditionalism' is very quaint and naturally Compliance Gullibles swallow the narrative .
But if it leaves you happy , so be it .
 
There is no evidence of anything other than endless dreamless sleep.
Maybe there is something else. Maybe the dead are sworn to secrecy.
 
There are two possibilities:

Either what you were taught when young by your church is true (some say it's a mythology or nothing more than indoctrination, or man's ego does not want to accept the fact that he a finite entity so he had come up with the option of eternal life.)

or, it's lights out and you're nothing more than organic matter that decomposes to nothing.

I don't lose any sleep over it, as my ego isn't that big that I need to live on, or if it's truly over I won't even exist to care about it.

You left out the 3rd possibility...what the Bible says about the dead is true...

"For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten." Ecclesiastes 9:5

"The soul who sins is the one who will die." Ezekiel 18:4

Jesus described Lazarus’ death as being like sleep, indicating that while Lazarus was dead, he was conscious of nothing at all...John 11:11-14

Of course the bible doesn't say just one thing about death, but Elvira is laser focused on the one passage that can be interpreted to confirm her beliefs.
 
One's spirit or soul goes to a better place. This is not to claim anything supernatural. I mean the essence of a person, the good of the person at least, the influence of a person, goes on into the future multiplying like the butterfly effect. One tiny drop in the ocean with waves beyond the horizon. In this way, we kinda become a part of the future. The future will be a better place because, well, things have in the long term always gotten better.

Bad influence, evil, is discarded by society, derided and forgotten. It doesn't become a part of the future. It wallows in obscurity, all but incinerated by time. That's the hell part.
