EJ with his drummer and bassist on 17-11-1970. (I was wrong before about his not wanting a guitar in Funeral. He had made peace with it before then. But he hadn't here.)

Take Me to the Pilot

On the left is drummer Nigel Olsson. On the right is bassist Dee Murray who passed away from cancer in 1992. Dee recorded with many luminaries including the Spencer Davis Group, Steve Winwood, Rick Springfield, Billy Joel, and Alice Cooper. But he is best known for his work with Elton (1972-1975). Below is my Dee favorite. His bass lines here are classic and flow with gorgeous kinetic energy.

Enjoy :)

Today is Christmas Eve. It is time to get down to the music that talks about the reason for the season. First, how about a song about Mary?

Merry Christmas to everyone.

And, since I started with a song about Mary, let's include her in the next song.

And, how about one of the best voices of all time singing a Christmas classic.

Again, Merry Christmas to everyone.

What is this? I dont even...

I am still on a Robert Palmer kick. This is an early song by him warning against the dangers of anorexia. Since it is an early song of his, you can detect the Caribbean influence. After all, Palmer recorded his first album in New Orleans with the backing of Little Feat.

During the time that this song was recorded, the aerobic craze was sweeping through the nation, hence the reference to Olivia Newton John.

Its really a beautiful song that demonstrates Palmer's range.

About 5 years ago I was talking with a friend about gaming music. He told me that the Final Fantasy games had some great music. I had never played the games nor heard the music, but I remember thinking that they were "anime" games..."How good could the music be?".

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I came across this video:

Beautiful music...beautiful voice.

So I started researching:

Risa Ohki is a polyglot. She fluently speaks and sings in five languages. This is her singing in English:

Nobuo Uematsu is the composer of most of the Final Fantasy music. The variety of styles is amazing. Here he is taking over conducting an orchestra in one of his best pieces:

The music of Final Fantasy has now taken it's place with my favorite gaming music. I only wish it hadn't take me so long to find out about it.

Twisted Sister's "interpretation" of the Christmas carol, 12 Days of Christmas. Speaks for itself. Nothing like fat old rockers still living the dream of ROCK by selling out to Gametap to do a Christmas song. And what is rock but selling out? Thats just a joke by the way...
