I've been telling you why. The rioters who chanted "hang Mike Pence" were set off by Trump's tweet during the riot that condemned Pence for the fourth time that day. That was preceded by a month of online threats and plans to hang democrats and cause violence to stop the EC.
Those protesters who chanted "Hang Mike Pence" should have been arrested, jailed, charged and then released. (And they were.)
The fact that he would not call the NG , and only sent a video to the rioters after he was told the NG had been mobilized. This corresponds to trump defending the chant. It demonstrates his support for the rioters. This occurred while he was aware that the rioters carried weapons.
Nancy Pelosi assumed responsibility for the lack of security on J-6: "I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more," but I'm not sure if "them" referred to the Capitol Police or the National Guard. Anyways, there should have been more security on that day. We agree on that.
There were many who intended to kill Pence, Pelosi and any Dems they could find. Otherwise they wouldn't bring weapons to a political rally.
No weapons were used to physically harm Pence, Pelosi or other Congress members. Only Capitol Police and other protesters were struck with weapons and injured.

Clearly, the intent was to intimidate - and they did. That makeshift half-scale model of a gallows was purely symbolic - it wasn't meant to "hang" anything.
Hanging someone is a violent act.
I agree 100%.

I agree, but I don't think they should have been pardoned.

That statement was made while she was in transit to the undisclosed location. That was just minutes after the rioters entered the Capitol. I don't think she completely understood at that time what had happened. I say that because the security responsibility belongs to the Sargent at arms. She shared a security agreement with the SaA and Mitch McConnell before J6. But no one blames Mitch. He signed the same agreement.

Let me ask you to consider this; if they were willing to fight with police, why would they not harm politicians? The Capitol Police were at arms reach but the rioters never had a chance to even lay eyes on the politicians. If they were willing to harm the police, would they pause or restrain themselves from harming the politicians?

I agree 100%.

We actually agree on a few things.

It most certainly was a call for violence.

To say otherwise is folly.

Obviously, if they had wanted Mike Pence to actually be hung, they would have done it - not shout into bullhorns.

Obviously, if James Comey wanted 47 to actually be 86ed, he would do it himself - not arrange tiny sea shells on a beach.

We saw how it was handled when Babbit attempted to get thru the last lines of defense. Are you saying that you believe the Jan 6 mob would have been able to reach Congress and kill Pelosi and hang Pence, as they were screaming?

No. I never said that. I didn't even imply that.

Security should have been on high-alert. They weren't. I don't know who was responsible for the lax security on January 6th.

No. I never said that. I didn't even imply that.

The crude makeshift gallows model was symbolic. The calls to "Hang Mike Pence" were symbolic. James Comey's tiny-sea-shell-in-sand message was symbolic.

The gallows was symbolic. What does that have to do with their ability to follow thru on that threat? Could they have accessed and killed Pence and Pelosi? It's not hard to hang someone with what's on hand, people do it in their homes all the time, but I think that "killing" in general was their desire. "Hanging" was just historical symbolism, as you say.

Yeah - right.

That's hilarious!🤣
Who knows why you think that's hilarious? I think you don't realize the severity of how much Trump whipped that crowd into a frenzy with his rhetoric.

The hyperbole is hilarious.

They couldn't get to Pence.. If they could, they might have killed him.

This is pure TDS hyperbole nonsense. No protesters intended to "kill" anyone. The calls to "Hang Mike Pence" were symbolic. They likely meant hold Pence accountable for not using his authority to overturn the election.

(I KNOW that Pence didn't actually have the authority to do that, but many J-6 protesters mistakenly believed that he did.)

Trump: “Well, the people were very angry,”

Jon Karl: “They said, ‘hang Mike Pence.’”

Trump: “It’s common sense, Jon. It’s common sense that you’re supposed to protect. How can you, if you know a vote is fraudulent, right, how can you pass on a fraudulent vote to Congress?”

Nonsense. Trump wasn't even there. He was miles away at a rally, asking the rally-goers to be PEACEFUL.

Irrelevant excuse-making. A threat was made against a sitting VP. It was unacceptable. As was building a gallows. DO NOT attempt to downplay what the MAGA terrorists did.

Also, use of the phrase "TDS", which is a slur, automatically disqualifies your post.

Trump lied here. He knew the election was not rigged and he admitted to it.

This is an absolute lie. He did not such thing. He told them to "fight like hell" and they went to the Capitol and attempted to prevent a vote from being certified.

Why should anyone take your word over the death threats made that day?

Nonsense. Trump wasn't even there. He was miles away at a rally, asking the rally-goers to be PEACEFUL.
While at the Elipse, he riled them up with falsehoods about the election being stolen and falsehoods about how Pence could flip the election. Then later, he reached them via Twittter, with falsehoods about how Pence didn't have the courage to do what's "right." Many of those people were pissed as shit and absolutely would have harmed Pence and members of Congress had they gotten their hands on any of them, which fortunately, they didn't.

Critical Thinking. You can accept a plausible explanation, or you can rely on TDS hyperbole nonsense. The choice is yours.

"I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,"

Trump was crystal clear about keeping peace at the Ellipse rally. Trump intended to march with them, but naturally his security detail didn't allow him to do that since the violence and mayhem was already unfolding at the Capitol.

Believe whatever you want.

Critical thinking is believing someone when they're angry as shit and threatening to kill someone they're angry at. Your explanation isn't plausible, it's hallucination.

And his thugs did march peacefully to the Capitol. It was once they got there, they lost their shit.

Agreed and QFT.

Since they received pardons it is clear some people do not think it was a call to violence. What say the good people of Debate Politics? Come cry if you need to..

😅

Crazy to even bring this up from a leftist position. How many times have democrats killed Trump in effigy, even on TV shows? Do you seriously believe you have a leg to stand upon?

"8646", "8647", "hang Mike Pence", "killing in effigy" are all wrong to state. In each of these circumstances it was only a few or one, not the 'entire' opposition as it's made to seem when used for argumentative purposes.

Do you think the four years under Biden was a "call to violence" against Trump and his supporters, ending with two nutters attempting assassination? How ate up do you have to become?.......rhetoric, political hyperbole causes trouble......heck, they went so far to attempt Trump from being on the ballot in some states, lol. " Defenders of Democracy".......:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Truth

Cult45/47 loves to cherry pick that one sentence about “peacefully” while intentionally ignoring everything else, as if that’s all there was, as if that was the beginning and the end of it all, as if it absolves him. Far from it. It’s the totality of everything beginning before the election had even taken place that shows the full picture, his inciting and renders that one sentence meaningless.

The reality is that his inciting started before the election had even taken place, first by brainwashing them into believing that if he lost it would be because it was stolen, then after he did legitimately lose brainwashing them into believing it was stolen. By the time J6 rolled around they had already been whipped into a frenzy brainwashed into believing his lies/hoax that the election had been stolen, that day incited them even further.

And straight from those who were there.

This guy, Joshua Black, was at the rally, he was one of the first along with others in the out of control mob to break down the barricades. He was later hit in the cheek with a rubber bullet.

Here’s what he said incited them even further. Not hard to see that it wasn’t police, or the media or Pelosi or democrats.

This seems to be phenomenon called crowd psychology where each individual may not desire violence yet, spurred into action as a group (bullhorn) they may be inclined to participate in collective violence.

True. I think that many of the protesters who went to the Capitol had no intentions of committing violence, but got caught up in crowd psychology.

However the rally-goers at the Ellipse rally did not participate in the violence. Most were horrified when they saw the chaos and mayhem unfolding when they arrived at the Capitol. Many of the Ellipse rally-goers tried (in vain) to stop it, but they were vastly outnumbered by the lunatics who had already stormed the building and were shouting "Hang Mike Pence."

Clearly, the violent protesters were not acting on Trump's call for a 'peaceful and patriotic' demonstration.

Nonetheless, it was still a call for violence.

Hi Hatuey,

That is a vote for violence. Not easy to justifiably explain this any other way.

What makes you say people at the Ellipse didn't participate in the violence?

They were miles away from the Capitol when the protesters stormed the building and were threatening the Congress members. The rally-goers arrived on the scene long after the mayhem had begun.

Also, the day following the riots, there were videos of rally-goers pleading with the mob to stop the violence. Those videos were quickly pulled by the anti-Trump people, and never seen again.

Trump had no idea that the Capitol was under seige during his speech at the Ellipse rally. His Security Team didn't advise him of the mayhem until AFTER his speech was over. Trump had intended to march alongside the rally-goers, but obviously his Security Team couldn't allow that.
