[W:119]Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

Well, at least you are not hiding how the right wing brain works.

I used to be like you, back in the 80s, once upon a time I was a libertarian/conservative, ( I voted for the libertarian candidate against Reagan, but I would have just as easily voted for Reagan, and was relieved when he won against Carter ) and held every right wing libertarian meme in my brain like you are doing now.

One day I got tired of arguing with liberals, so I thought I would go down to the library and get the hard data, which I assumed would prove conclusively that republican administrations were better for America, so I could just toss the data in front of liberals and I could say, "end of argument".

Funny thing happened, most of what I thought were true about liberals wasn't true at all. The hard data revealed that democrat administrations, on the whole, did better for America on the hard stats, than Repubs did. And I couldn't wrap my head around it, but there it was. It took me some 10 years to come over to the dem side of things, but I understand now why they are better for America. I can't explain it to you in 25 words or less, but just understand this: If you build a house on a slab made of sandstone, it won't be a solid house, and that is what being a republican is, it's a house, with tons of good looking bricks, but built on a false premise, which is why it doesn't do well for America as the thought terminating clichés you have piled up in your brain would have you believe.

This is why you'll find me often saying this:

If I believe only half of what conservatives say about liberals, I would still be one.

the truth is, your brain is, indeed, a bucket filled with right wing memes (some russian ) and thought terminating clichés.

Someone has done what I did back in the 80s, quite nicely, here;

Presidential Data 2016

The problem with that is corporate Dems are little better, but they are better, even so. God help us all.

Politics is the process of making group decisions. Government and policy is the mechanism of how that process may be done in an orderly fashion.

If it confuses you why effective government is necessary - Go live in a major city, where you cannot escape your neighbor who has decided that 1AM is an appropriate time to mow his lawn. Or the lady who dumps garbage and raw sewage onto the vacant lot next to her property.

That's funny, I have actually seen tweakers duct tape flashlights to the lawnmower to mow after dark. Then you got these types>

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

I do not think you are paying attention. Pharmaceutical companies are struggling left and right.

Johnson and Johnson had to pay 4.7 billion because allegedly they had asbestos in their baby powder products which cause ovarian cancer. Completely false. There is actually no evidence that talc even causes cancer.

Reality often tends not to be clear cut or black and white.

Here's a good report on it by the American Cancer Society.

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

Do you have ANY idea how many rules and regulations big government has come up with? Many are outlandishly ignorant.

Well, I do recall a republican in Texas wanting a law that forced vaginal probes for women without patient consent nor recommendation from doctors.

In other words, "My laws are better than your laws!"

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

From Johnson and Johnson's website:

Following decades of studies conducted by medical experts across the globe, it has been demonstrated through science, research and clinical evidence that few ingredients have the same performance, mildness and safety profile as cosmetic talc.

Talc, also known as talcum powder, is a naturally occurring mineral that is highly stable, chemically inert and odorless. The grade of talc used in cosmetics is of high purity—comparable to that used for pharmaceutical applications—and it’s only mined from select deposits in certified locations before being milled into relatively large, non-respirable-sized particles.

Today, talc is accepted as safe for use in cosmetic and personal care products throughout the world.

So every time a chicken complains we'll ask a fox who is guarding the hen house for the truth about matter.

Got it.

Well, there is forcing previously hidden pricing information into the market.

Trump Administration Rules to Show Hospital Prices Online

Aug 30, 2018 - Patients will be able to see a list of a hospital's standard charges online starting Jan. 1, under guidelines proposed by the Trump administration.

Let the free market work, force open competition on pricing. Could be a step in a better direction, depending on how the market responds.

We could start by allowing the FDA to approve of Canadian meds.

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

We could start by allowing the FDA to approve of Canadian meds.

I'm assuming FDA approval to import them.
I wouldn't be against that, provided those meds meet the established requirements, which I'm pretty sure they would.

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

Why do liberals want a huge costly over bearing government that tries to control every aspect of our lives? For every rule or regulation the government comes up with people lose more freedom. What is it with the liberal psyche that makes them want to totally control the lives of other people? Why do liberals think they need to tell me what I should do or not do in minute detail????????????

Do you think that food manufacturers should be free to put poisonous stuff in our food?https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10565838

Loads of deaths.

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

Thank you, dude for an enlightening conversation. It would have been so much nicer if you have chosen to be civil and not insulting. I'm afraid I have to inform you that I do not willingly engage in conversations with rude people. Have a nice life.
I was not being rude. Just showing you the facts. All those links showed that your argument was entirely wrong, that indeed there are a lot of fake drugs in those border towns with Mexico. The same links showed that you could not possibly know that a drug is fake merely by looking at it (as you claimed that you could do by claiming to be an expert). And then I pointed out that you are actually part of the problem, meaning that your job makes you extremely biased. I mean FFS you asserted that you are "pharmaceutical sales rep" gee no wonder you started arguing and took offense at criticisms of your own profession.

BTW I am trying to have a good life on my own, if it were not for "pharmaceutical sales rep's" trying to sell me prescriptions for insane prices, it would be much better. SO save the victim spew dude.

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

When you allege fantasy beliefs that literally nobody ahas and have a tantrum over it, well how do you expect anyone to react to your trolling?

So I guess you have no good reasons for huge costly government that steadly takes away our freedoms.

I can explain it:

You are projecting. Badly. For example, gay marriage.

Also, most other Western nations are far more liberal than the USA, yet they are considered to be countries with more freedom than in the USA. Look it up at Conservative Cato group study..

Can a Republican explain to me why they ant an over-bearing government that wants to control every aspect of our lives?

Can a Republican explain to me how Trump wants to cut personal freedoms?

Can a Republican explain why Trump and the GOP want to tax ordinary people to death .... and spend it on grandiose vanity projects ?

Can a Republican explain why Trump and the GOP don't care about ordinary people, and is happy to see homeless Americans live in the streets...see many Americans unable to afford even the most basic of heath care ?

Or put simply...can a Republican explain why the GOP and Trump don't give a damn about anyone who isn't rich ?

Re: Could a liberal on the forum explain this to me

I still want to know what should be done. Do you have any ideas?

Oh, I could never share my ideas, I'd be drummed out and tagged a socialist!
Of course there are ideas. They're called regulations, and we live in a country which has decided that regulations are a scary attack on something called "freedumb", the freedom for big pharma to jack up prices until even working people have to trade food and utilities to purchase lifesaving medications.
