I'm not the first or the only one who has made the obvious comparison. And Nazi's didn't just burn Jewish literature.
You're not very informed, are you? You don't even understand what your defending.
"Book burning" refers to the ritual destruction by fire of books or other written materials. Usually carried out in a public context, the burning of books represents an element of censorship and usually proceeds from a cultural, religious, or political opposition to the materials in question....
Book Burning
Since ancient times, people from virtually all religions and societies have burned books as a form of censorship, protest, or hate mongering.
As long as there have been materials deemed lewd or blasphemous, there have been attempts to ban them. Those burning books as an act of censorship on ideological grounds often display religious intolerance, such as that exhibited during the Spanish Inquisition or the reign of the Taliban....

History of Book Censorship
Censurship and religious intolerance....is that your idea of freedom?
I think most Muslims would likely ignore this idiot Terry Jones.
I also think that people would be ticked off if he was going to burn 3,000 Bibles or Torahs.
Only the idiots would want his rights violated for burning Biles and Torahs.
I love how the folks that support birning Old Glory as a sacred right are the same people that want to throw this dude in jail for burning books. Political correctness sucks!

Political statements are often offensive--a tactic you don't mind using--and burning religious texts can be an offensive political statement. Here is a clue--Jews often bury their old books because they believe that destroying printed documents referring to God as a Sacrilege.

Obviously a lot of people are frightened to death of the savages and would rather give up their rights. It's really quite pathetic.
In Afghanistan?
Terry Jones didn't plan to burn the Korans in Egypt or Libya.
WTH does that have to do with my post? I'm talking about people here in the USA who are willing to give up certain freedoms to appease terrorists, which is exactly what you see being demonstrated here in this thread.
Give me one good reason otherwise why this man should not burn a Koran. You will say because it's insensitive or offensive, and that is completely irrelevant and is no reason to limit any freedoms.
What freedom are we giving up... The freedom to start a fire in a public park?
They were targeting all foreign literature, which happened to be largely Jewish, but clearly they burned other things. I think you're honing in on stupid details instead of actually addressing the point.
I'm not moot, I don't think we should give up rights because the muslims will throw temper tantrums.
Freedom of expression, freedom of dissent. Do I have to refer you to Ben Franklin's famous quote? Do you really want to live in a country where you can't do things for the fear of offending someone? That is retarded.

Or perhaps it's the Arab world that doesn't understand the difference....

Oh my, how embarrassing for the free world when our leaders have to apologize for the desecration of the Koran by Americans. Hey, maybe they don't understand the difference between the state and nut jobs, either. lol
No, they burned books they saw as "un-German". They were books from Jewish German writers, communist writers, books from Jung were among the books that were burned.
The Germans had a theory of "entartete kunst" which stands for degenerated art. All kinds of books, paintings, etc. were under that heading. Book burning was just part of the attempt of the Nazi's to also put all of society in a stranglehold by banning/burning books of people who had different views from them, books they saw as too modern and degenerate who would corrupt the German people with their weird, foreign, degenerate views and imagery.
The burning of books was the first step in the process of mind control the Nazi's instigated.
More perpetuation of moot's idiotic nazi comparison?
.

Holy ****, did I say that was all they burned? Moot compared wanted to speak in a religious context, so I did.
Is that really what you're bringing to this conversation? More perpetuation of moot's idiotic nazi comparison?
Let me know when you're ready to address the topic.
As is the prevention of any criticism of Islam by the Islamists you support.
Take away people's ability to protest an anti-humanist ideology and you serve the ends of such an ideology.
And what point is that, all I did was correct/expand the book burning comment, nothing more and nothing less.
It is a comparison made even more ironic by the fact she supports the Islamist position when it comes to her hatred of the liberal notion of free speech. Yes, by all means, let's all support heavy handed totalitarianism to show how much we are against it.
I don't support any religion. I am an atheist.
I think a municipality has the right to ban certain behaviors.
Let's all appease the muslims.
So why isn't it legal for gays to marry in all states?
