That the university is worried about the fallout only goes to further show how much privilege religion and Christianity enjoy in this country. There are stories like this all the time, where Christians get upset when they do not receive special treatment. That wrestler a while back threw a fit when he was disqualified for holding up a match. He felt that his desire to pray was reason to exempt him from the rules. This student thinks that her faith is reason to exempt her from the rules. It's fine if you think a rule against religious items like this is wrong, but that's not the issue. The issue is that a Christian was required to play by the same rules as everybody else and raised a stink about it.
Absolutely incorrect on all fronts. Start with the First Amendment and you'll begin to understand how the university can not stand behind this ONE individual that misrepresented university policy. The student has asked for no exemption to university rules. Read the damn article! The university is not behind this.
