U.S. scientists officially declare 2016 the hottest year on record.

We can get an idea.
We can make assumptions of what the four El Nino months of 2016 would have been had no El Nino happened,
but it would be pure speculation.

Liberals have this impossible dream that they are powerful enough to dictate what the climate will

Call them the environmentalist Three Bears

The want it not too cold, and not too hot

But JUST RIGHT

This hottest year nonsense is just outright base propaganda.

Hard to beleive people are naive enough to buy into it

It really doesn't matter. Of course, you know what the solution is to global warming, right? Bigger government and higher taxes. More power for our politicians to force us to pour money into windmills. Then, temperatures will start dropping. After that, they will give us an ice age scare, that we need to do something about right now! Raise taxes again!

That is the post of a brain washed conspiracy theorist. All we need do is as quickly as possible transition away from such a high reliance on fossil fuels for the WORLD'S energy needs.

Also, as we do this the temperature will continue to rise, not fall. We can only hope to limit warming in the long term. It will be a long time before global temperature falls at all unless we can develop technology which will scrub existing CO2 out of the atmosphere. A small mountain's worth every singe year.

Mathematical estimate, actually.

Mathematical estimate, actually.
And the best numbers would still be a guess, because the signal to noise ratio is all over the place.

No, it is not, however the rate of the temperature rise during an El Nino event is like 10 times faster than would be possible
from the other sources. The contamination of the data is such, that it takes at least 40 months to average the spike out.

Complete nonsense.

Where did I say there was no warming?
It seems like this is what I said back in post#15.

Also it is hypercritical to on the one hand say counting from 1997/98 extreme el Nino year is wrong,
while at the same time saying 2015/16 extreme el Nino year is some record breaking year.
Pretty graphics and estimates aside, it takes about 40 months to average out the spike from an El Nino.

What is the point of using dishonest cherry-picking? Are you trying to fool yourself?

Who is cherry picking? I am pointing out that If the El Nino peaks are used to count the warming highs,
they should also be available to be referenced for comparisons of future warming.
Since the El Nino are clearly weather events, we really should not count them at all,
yet here we have the supposed Scientist touting 2016 as the hottest year on record, when the average annual temperature
for 2016 was clearly influenced by the 4 out of 12 months which were exceptionally warm because of a known weather event.

Fortunately, we have science to counteract your dishonesty.
No dishonesty, the only way to accurately show the increase as if the El Nino never happened would be to average it out.
Other methods would would have large error margins, because of the signal to noise ratio of the monthly data records.

Breitbart using a junkscience conspiracy blog run by house-painter as it's "source" and claiming that that the earth is actually cooling? LOL! Thanks for the laughs.

What's funny, is when warmers complain about junk science. :lamo

Who's 'complaining'?

I'm laughing my arse off that you believe the earth is cooling.... because you read it on Breitbart.

If it's man made I approve

The summers are about the Sam but winter is much shorter and not as cold

Global warming is good for my vegetable garden

Then I guess you don't mind more summer days with triple-digit heat.

Last Friday (Jan 13th) it was 81 degrees in Austin area. It's record breaking. The last highest temp for the same day was 71 degrees in 1970. Two days earlier the high was 25 degrees with the low at 16 degrees. That's Texas weather for you.

Houston nearly hit its record low a couple of weeks ago.

Is that proof AGW is a farce ( which it is )

I live in Houston. The number of " triple digit days " has decreased substantially over the last few years and the summer of 2011 was one of the hottest on record.

In fact, I think we may have had 1 or two last summer.

But we're still being fed base propaganda by the obama adminstration, that the last 3 years have been the hottest on record.

A day in Houston proves climate change is a farce?

We'll see said the blind man to his deaf brother.

Keep laughing while we laugh at all of the gullible chicken littles who actually believe the last 3 years have been the hottest on record

I guess you have to be born yesterday to buy into that bull

Obama personally controls NASA and NOAA?

Do you also believe that the moon landings were staged and that the earth is flat?
