Under a President Donald Trump, the Republican Party would become a different one, a broad, populist coalition focused on workers who have gone too long without a raise and on social programs the party establishment has long seen as anathema to its long-term success.

This seems like a poor mixture of Democratic Socialists ideals and Nazi ones... Trump has effectively killed the GOP.

A Workers Party!

Hm. America First Workers Party?

That could work.

Maybe, since it's sort of a nationalism-v-"globalism" genre, he could call it the National Workers Party. That might work.

Or, if he wanted, he could continue to seek to steal Bernie Sanders voters, and call it the National Socialist Workers Party. It's gotta nice ring to it.

They need to shorten his leash. Renaming the party is a bit presumptuous. I wonder how the rest of the GOP feels about it.

Or are we going to hear that this was yet another joke in a few hours, after his handlers are made aware and the damage control team gets wind of it.

Mixture of Democratic Socialist ideals? Yea right. If anything calling it the "workers party" is essentially just attempting to pander in name only to the working class, just like the NAZIS did.

He keeps talking about a vague wage increase. I'm not so sure if he means minimum wage increase or periodic wage increases across the board to all. Except muslims and immigrants. Either way, a mixture of Socialist ideals and nazi ideals sounds about right to me....

I am amazed that everybody doesn't understand Trump's methodology by now. Every time the media attention begins to wane a bit, he comes up with some provocative statement to get folks stirred up and interested again. And sure enough his 'new party' name accomplished just that. And here everybody is talking about it on talk radio, on TV news, on social media, and on message boards.

I tell you the man is brilliant. He has managed to net the GOP nomination already. And he did it in the face of unprecedented opposition from the Democrats, independents, and the GOP. And he did it while the presumptive shoo in and already coronated Democratic candidate blessed with huge numbers of Super Delegates still hasn't clinched the Democratic nomination.

I tell you the man is brilliant. If he can translate those kinds of skills to running the country, we could be witness to something pretty great.

He keeps talking about a vague wage increase. I'm not so sure if he means minimum wage increase or periodic wage increases across the board to all. Except muslims and immigrants. Either way, a mixture of Socialist ideals and nazi ideals sounds about right to me....

1.)A wage increase is a "socialist ideal"? Its not a strictly socialist ideal. Its an ideal upheld by a great many stripes of individuals be them capitalists, kenseyians, socialists, etc.
2.)Trump on the minimum wage:
"“Taxes too high, wages too high, we’re not going to be able to compete against the world,” Trump said. “I hate to say it, but we have to leave [the minimum wage] the way it is.”
"Q: So do not raise the minimum wage?
TRUMP: I would not do it."

3.)Trump has essentially changed his position on the minimum wage many times. Hes said leave it where it is, now he is saying the federal govenrment should abolish the wage and let the "states decide and compete against one another" and he is saying "people are going to be making a lot more than $15 an hour". You see the thing is, this isnt so much "vague" its essentially just telling different stripes of people what they want to hear with empty platitudes and promises without actually explaining how the policy would work/be implemented. Its ridiculous. Its in no way grounded in any democratic-socialist ideals.

He is also good at leveraging and pulling out of problems he has had, and he does it in a way that minimizes any damage to others. I much prefer to place trust in people who have tried and failed but who have learned from those failures and have learned how to succeed. Such people bring invaluable experience to the job that those who have only made their living in government cannot possibly bring.

I don't think I can stand in this cesspool of poorly educated conservatives any longer.
I guess a virus killed off all the smart ones, there are so few of them here that it's like looking for some kind of "crested ruby throated warbler" or some such living fossil.

Bernie is a national socialist, Hitler was a liberal, Trump is stealing democratic socialist ideas, democratic socialism is communism, progressives are fascists. It's like Sarah Palin had diarrhea and Glen Beck and Alex Jones gobbled it up, had sex and we're listening to the offspring as they have growing pains.

I think I am done with DP for a while....it's lowering my IQ.

well, in the case of his four bankruptcies he avoid his obligations and allowed others to eat that debt
none of the four concerns emerged from bankruptcy court as an ongoing business
hell of a problem solver

As the old saying goes, every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. With Trump's supposed brilliance, wouldn't you think just once when he's looking to stir the pot he'd come up with something provocative that wasn't totally dumb ass ignorant? One off the cuff gem that shows the man isn't a total imbecile would be helpful, but I guess that's asking too much and America just has to accept a daily dose of idiocy.

Actually, 'workers party' is more of a communist slogan

Republicans have been in love with communists for a very long time.
They have industrialized the Soviet Union and built a great petroleum infrastructure for them, and borrowed trillions from Communist China, and given away our entire manufacturing base to them.

What's the surprise?
