I like the weeping willow first;

And the Live Oak second.

Both beautiful trees.

I love the trees that are all around Savannah. I'm not sure what they're called, but they are so pretty.

Live oaks are all over the South. I think that is probably what you are referring to.

I think they are live oaks. They have Spanish moss hanging from them.

I love trees! I could never imagine living in a place that did not have an abundance of trees preferably deciduous. I know a couple of families here that remove all the trees from any property they purchase, I just cannot understand them! :doh

Some of my favorite reside in the Maple family.

Do any of you ever just go touch one? Deliberately? I don't mean prune it or just feel its bark, or gaze up into the branches, but actually touch it with both palms and actually FEEL it's life?

I do all the time. I find it no stranger than seeing a dog walking by and I reach out to pet it's head.

Try it. See if you feel it's essence..the subtle zingggg from it's spirit to yours. :)

Nothing says the south like a huge, old live oak tree.

Tons of really great ones all around southern Louisiana.

Resident hippy girl has been found.

On a sort of off note, nothing makes me want to beat an old man's ass more than after I read "The Giving Tree."

The trees posted already are so beautiful.

These are Jacaranda Trees and are plentiful in Australia. Really beautiful when in bloom.

I am very fond of Acer Pseudoplatanus "Eskimo Sunset".

These are pics I took a couple two falls ago up the hill outside of Santa Fe. Aspen turning colors. Had I had optimal sun on them they really shine golden far more than what this pics show but it was intermittent clouds that day.

Not necessarily hippy girl, since I know how to rumble and would if cornered. More like pagan-ish.;)

Best climbing tree, dog woods.
Most visually appealing to me, oak trees.

Tree I want to see, that I haven't, a paw paw tree.

I think live oaks are better climbing trees. They drop their limbs to the ground for you.

They can be, no doubt.
At my old house, we had two White Oaks, but the limbs were too high to reach.

Dog woods tend to stay closer to the ground.
Making them easier to climb, in my experience of course.

With live oaks, their limbs can be as big around as their trunk so the trunk can't hold them up and the limbs will often dip down and skip off the ground and then grow upwards.

When was the last time anyone actually climbed a tree?
45 years ago, I could climb to the tippy top. Last year I thought I'd be brave and give it a go but I didn't get very far. Now? fergitaboutit. I'd never make it off the ground. But I sure miss being up there.
