This is a result of Texas House Bill 3979
Opposing views would include Holocaust deniers is one way to interpret this. That would not go well.
Another is the Law is an an attack on facts
Educators are cowed by this law.
“Just try to remember the concepts of [House Bill] 3979,” Peddy said on Oct. 8, according to a recording obtained by NBC News, which first reported the story. “And make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives.”

So I'm not completely sure if this is true feelings about the Holocaust (God I hope not), actual confusion and caution about the bill itself (which could be the case) or a kind of protest to show the nature of some things that have been pointed out in the past about "we need to present both sides/arguments at school". But overall it isn't so much of a surprise after thinking about it. Unfortunately and of these 3 above options could be true, and that is very sad.

The TX law is a classic example of 'unintended consequences'.

My theory is that MAGA has driven the Texas GQP stark raving mad. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes the citizens to notice.

From your own link....

"A North Texas school district apologized late Thursday after an administrator advised teachers that if they have books about the Holocaust in their classrooms, they should also include reading materials that have “opposing” perspectives of the genocide that killed millions of Jews."

Lane Ledbetter, superintendent for Carroll ISD in Southlake, Tex., apologized late Thursday and acknowledged the authenticity of the recording.

“During the conversations with teachers, comments made were in no way to convey the Holocaust was anything less than a terrible event in history,” Ledbetter said in a statement posted to Facebook. “Additionally, we recognize there are not two sides of the Holocaust.”

Reaction to CRT at its finest, well lowest really with this law
These are educated people asking how does one provide opposing opinion on the Holocaust

“How do you oppose the Holocaust?” one teacher said in response, sounding baffled.
“Believe me,” Peddy said, “that’s come up.”

You've misrepresented what transpired in this school district in both this post and the O/P.
Try reading the entire article for proper context to the end....

Ledbetter, the superintendent, said the district understands that the law “does not require an opposing viewpoint on historical facts.”

“As a district we will work to add clarity to our expectations for teachers and once again apologize for any hurt or confusion this has caused,” he wrote.

I'm done here...

I'd like to see schools cover and teach about the Palestinians holocaust , unfolding as we speak.
My thoughts are with them in this difficult time.(y)
Check back when the trains start running………..

RW are always in favor of 1A until they are not
This measure sends a polar chill to teachers who do not want to attract the NJ's attention where their profession and employment are placed at risk
Add in the public harassment and SM attacks
This law is meant to place that chill on anything that approaches CRT or history

So nothing pertinent
I am not surprised

A holocaust doesnt require trains.

Being shot, imprisoned, displaced, having your home bulldozed and destroyed by airstrikes, and being put off your land is a holocaust.

No one people have a monopoly on suffering, all people suffer. I'm more worried about todays holocausts, especially since its one I am helping to enable.
I dont care for it.

I think it wasn't so much the holocaust the bill was designed against, but rather such things as 'evolution'. and 'cosmology' (So they can sneak in teaching creationism'

The victor will always be the judge, and the vanquished the accused. Hermann Goring, Nuremburg OR
History is written by the victors, attributed to Winston Churchill, but he wasn't the first to say it.

I think it's extremely important to present history with alternate points of view in schools. It's the only way to ensure that children are not victims of propaganda and achieve a certain clarity, even if that clarity merely proves the vagaries of historical accounts and the conflicting nature of historical context. There are historical figures and events that are immensely unpopular and some very popular. Regardless, it's important that we do our best to present ideas that inspire students to be thoughtful in their analysis of the past, and hopefully that will translate into being more discerning about their present world. Thanks!!

And yet people get upset when Churchill’s murky past is even whispered.

There's a reason college exists. You people don't like that either.

If they present holocaust denial views in order to discredit them, then I may be open to it (at least for the bigger highschool kids). If the idea is to just present opposing views without the teacher taking a stance in order to.let students "form their own opinion," then this is as stupid as presenting "opposing views" on child molestation without taking a firm stance against it.

Well, the idea that victors write history does not make all victors the same. The allied victory still spared the life of many German Holocaust deniers. If the nazis had won, today we probably would not know that at some point there were millions of Jews in Nazi controlled countries.

I agree. Regardless, students shouldn't be relegated solely to our version, even if we are the good guys. Students will be able to discern that for themselves. Thanks!!

I completely disagree.

Part of educating students requires the cultivation of some basic morality. . We do not just let children figure out by themselves if murder is wrong or if all men are created equal. So, the idea of exposing them to "opposing views" about the mass murder of Jews makes no sense.
