So, the Democrats Won. What Now?

Right wing media needs to take responsibility and stop spewing that rhetoric that the border is open.
The border is open. Wide open. There, effectively, is no border.

1) Your own source says that it is centrist with a lean to the right.
Pathetic, dishonest spin attempt fail.

Overall, we rate Real Clear Politics as right-center biased based”

“Right-center” and “centrist with a lean to the right” aren’t synonymous.

The supporting references I included very clearly prove RCP’s right wing perspective.
2) RCP collects polls. They don't perform them so they are not a polling group.
Polling aggregator. RCP is right wing polling aggregator that you, due to your own strong right wing bias, place confidence in.

The border is open. Wide open. There, effectively, is no border.
The 2.4 million arrests/detentions at our Southern border this year proves your assertion is complete bull shit.

Border Patrol reports 2.4 million migrant arrests at southwest border this year, the most ever

Republicans were poised to celebrate a blowout but Democrats pulled the upset. It was not a big win, because Republicans will control the House, but a clear win nonetheless.

What now. With no working margin on either side of Congress, new legislation is unlikely. Judging from history, the only things like to occur are spending cap related.

Economically, the COVID bounceback is over and the COVID hangover has set it. Global supply problems abound due to failed businesses and the war in Ukraine. In USA we had a real GDP recession for the first half of this year and runaway inflation making an unusual pairing of economic opposites. Food and heating costs are leading the way making this winter particularly harsh for the middle class and poor. In spite of having no real influence, Democrats will absorb much of the blame for that. Calls of obstructionism are old and tired.

If 2023 looks bleak economically, 2024 looks better regardless of what anyone does. The real question is how much things turn around and how fast. So, Democrats will not have to run against the economy though it may not actually help. Also, primary season could be very different economically from election season.

So, what do we do next?
Never underestimate the Democrats ability to find votes when they need them. They will be fine in the upcoming elections regardless of how badly they manage things.

Only of the House, assuming Republicans win six more seats.

The irony is that Republicans will take the House based on seats they flipped in New York and California.

Right, so Democrats lost. But because Republicans won, they can now more easily be blamed for everything. Which is actually kind of a win for Democrats. Youre right, Democrats won!

They were not arrested. They were given a piece of paper and sent on their way. Most in less then 24 hours from when they illegally crossed the border.

Pathetic, dishonest spin attempt fail.
Your attempted spin is about to fail.

That is exactly what it is.

It even uses the word center which is different from the word wing.

The supporting references I included very clearly prove RCP’s right wing perspective.
I acknowledge that you think so.

Polling aggregator.
If that is what you meant why didn't you say so. What you did say was incorrect.

RCP is right wing polling aggregator that you, due to your own strong right wing bias, place confidence in.
Again, center is not wind.

FAIL!

Never underestimate the Democrats ability to find votes when they need them. They will be fine in the upcoming elections regardless of how badly they manage things.
We have been in this situation many times. It's very good for not spending more money but not as good for reducing spending.

Right, so Democrats lost.
I count it a win but a close contest.

But because Republicans won, they can now more easily be blamed for everything. Which is actually kind of a win for Democrats. Youre right, Democrats won!
Since the Democrats won this

Asylum seekers are not illegal entrants.

Calling all CBP border encounters with migrants arrests is very misleading.

Migrant encounters track the number of people arrested by Border Patrol agents in between ports of entry or denied admission into the country at a port of entry and deported. That includes asylum-seekers who are, depending on their circumstances, either immediately expelled to Mexico, deported to their home countries or released into the U.S. while they await the processing of their asylum applications.

What now?

I think I'll brag for a little while about how the American voters have at least temporarily saved democracy from the fascist Republican Nazi Party.

And I'll be bragging even more if the Democrats also win the House.

Which is not out of the question, by any means. As I describe here. --

how does losing the house = saving democracy?
also btw, i just saw where your great leader had a 3 hour meeting with the Chinese coal industry super backer Xi Xinping about climate change.

I am sure they made great progress. I wonder how many more coal plants china will start this year while demanding we switch to battery everything that they own all the materials for?

According to the link they were actually arrests. The encounters is a separate number, normally amnesty seekers which are not arrests.

Nope, the following clearly indicates those two terms are being used for the same thing.

Migrant arrests, or encounters, for the year were 37% higher than last year, and more than two times the number recorded in 2019.

Encounters are not arrests. They are migrants that are either caught between ports of entry or denied admission at the port of entry and amnesty seekers who are immediately expelled or released into the USA. Arrests are different categories, two different numbers.

ETA I will admit the wording is ambiguous. Amnesty seekers are not arrests, expelled at the border is not an arrests.

Asserting that all 2.4 million CBP/illegal immigrant encounters resulted in their release into the United States is lying.

Are you saying they deported 2.5 million illegals this year? Bald faced laugh in your face lie Rale.
Making up shit I didn’t say, or even imply, is a pathetic defense tactic. Even from you.

As Melanie says, “be best”.

Sorry that I asked you a question to allow you to clarify your statement. Lashing out with a personal attack? Pathetically thin skin. "Even for you."

More @Rawley signature dishonesty.

You didn’t simply ask a question. You posed a question to a position I did not assert.

Try to “be best”.

I agree, yet I didn’t do that.

What is very difficult to find is what percentage of (total) immigrants ‘encountered’, ‘arrested’ or ‘detained’ (all of these terms seem to be used interchangeably) by CBP have been expelled (removed or deported) vs. released into the US.

Citizens of countries where expulsions or removals are difficult—because of the cost of air travel, or because of poor diplomatic relations—are expelled much less frequently. Migrants’ chances of expulsion after being encountered in the United States, and thus their ability to seek protection in the United States, vary dramatically by nationality. So far in 2022, 88 percent of Mexicans and 67 percent of Guatemalans have been expelled, compared to 4 percent of Colombians, 2 percent of Cubans, and 0.4 percent of Venezuelans.

Because so many migrants come from these “other” countries, CBP expelled 42 percent of migrants it encountered in May, a smaller share than had been normal. (55 percent of single adults were expelled, as were 17 percent of family unit members.)

I know. @Rawley made that false claim.

What is known is that of the 2.4 (or whatever the number is now) million interactions between CBP and illegal immigrants, nowhere near all of those interactions resulted in the immigrants being given papers and released into the United States.

OK, but would allowing 42% or 33% of those many millions ‘encountered’ to be released into the US be OK with you?

After all, if Jose crossed ‘illegally’ into the US 4 times and was ‘removed’ (denied entry) 3 times, Jose still ends up inside the US.
