This is a public poll that does not require declaring an ideological loyalty. Do you think Sarah Palin would be a good member of Congress?

I will vote yes when your poll appears, but only because I don't think Ginsburg is ever going to keel over so we can put Sarah on the bench.

No, she would just end up being another Michele Backmann or Nancy Pelosi. Intentionally polarizing, largely argumentative, ineffective at working with her opposition, and generally a nuisance with little interest in anything other than grabbing as much mic time as possible.

On the other hand, she would then fit in well.

Yes. She has no real business running anything, but is about what the citizen legislator would look like.

It could be claimed that she would represent a one view of the American public, which is how representation should work. So potentially an correct response COULD be yes - even if you greatly disagree with her stance on issues.

No. She needs to run and become the GOP nominee for President.

Well....GWB DID try to appoint his cleaning lady....

I figure she could do the Hillary Clinton thing and relocate to a Congressional district or pick the right state and go for the Senate in a very Republican district/state and likely win. She has a huge PAC, huge name ID, and could go back to claiming people are picking on her family thing.

I do not know. I wouldn't want someone who who quit being governor just because some people said some mean things about her as my congressman or senator. Politicians talk **** about their opponents all the time, Palin probably wouldn't last a week or two.

Sarah Palin needs to stick to her current job, spreading BS.

It's the one that fits her talents.

She didn't quit because people said mean things about her. You're smarter than that, jamesrage.

Not the same thing- do I want her to be a member of Congress or would she be a good member of Congress.
Yeah, I want her to be a member, no, she wouldn't be a good one and hell, if she can't make it there I got some congress for her right here.

I am pretty sure that ignorant white trash already have a few representatives in congress. Unfortunately congress doesn't work like that. Representatives represent the people in their district, not a specific demographic. So if Palin's dwindling supporters want someone that represent's their views, they probably should move to Louie Gohmert's district.

As if that makes her look any better. It just shows she's got a really thin skin. Sarah Palin could have been something... like ... 7 years ago. Who is she now? A has been.

It doesn't matter what theory you want to believe in why she quit. The fact she quit her term as governor made her a quitter.Someone who can not be trusted to complete her term in office.

I don't know if quitting the governorship because she couldn't take the mean comments or because she could make more money on Fox and speaking tours is worse. Greater philosophers than myself will have to solve that puzzle.

Edit: okay, I have an opinion: leaving for more money is worse, but that's neither here nor there.

I think they are both equally bad. Quitting because people said mean things about her means that she is spineless and therefore would be a poor president.I do not want my president because the opposite in congress or even some world leaders said some **** about her. If she quit because she could make more money. Then that shows that she is for sale for the highest bidder.Which really isn't any different than any other politician. Then again politicians are supposed to be pretend that they are not for sale to the highest bidder.

Then again politicians are supposed to be pretend that they are not for sale to the highest bidder.

The pols do try to maintain that pretense, but voters are not fooled.
Then again, most incumbents are re-elected.....I guess the incumbents are better actors than we think.

i voted "other"... because it's not up to me, she's not from 'round here.

it's up to the people in whatever district she would run in, probably up there in Alaska, or Arizona... or wherever else shes a resident.

if she was in my district, I would NOT vote for her.... but she's not too different from the rest of the congresscritters.

Why not?

She has a big mouth, an ego to match, seems arrogant, is not very intelligent and looks good on camera (though I have not seen her in a while).

Sounds like 90+% of those currently in Congress on both sides (minus the looking good part).

Congress is a useless institution that (along with the White House and the Fed) does FAR more harm then good for America.

But what is even worse is most Americans are too politically stupid/ignorant to realize it.

The bar for Congress is so low that Sarah would fit in perfectly.

Sarah Palin, for all her flaws, has been an excellent salesperson for the State of Alaska. Most Americans, below the 49th Parallel, haven't a clue about Alaska and Sarah put it on the map and put issues related to Alaska on the agenda. I could see her being a great advocate for her State unlike a lot of Congress critters who get to Washington and forget where they came from.
