It was a homicide and a suicide. Situation is completely contained.
Correct.
It was a homicide and a suicide. Situation is completely contained.
I have no agenda...I just state facts.
I'm exploiting ...nothing!
I never said anything about motive on this thread....nor do I know what it was.
We see mass killings, in Gun Free Zones, all over the world.....several times per year.
Your criticism, like that of Redress....is unfounded and wrong!
Correct- recall that one who was shooting at shoplifters, happened a few months back. Never had 1 hit. Very lucky that no one was injured or killed by a poor shot or a ricochet. That wannabe Super Girl should had done serious time.
But oh no, 18 months probation.
She lost her CCW, but is she still able to obtain weapons??

Nope- one sign of good character traits is accepting constructive criticism.
As an ex LEO, you should knew that.
I am not now....and NEVER have ......exploited anything of this nature.
I merely state the facts!
And historically, you Can't Handle the Facts!
You did in this very thread. Sorry, but the facts show that you jumped at the chance to exploit this tragedy.
And can you show, "historically", where I have ever been unable to handle facts? Bet you can't...

Target motive or random?
Student or outsider?
Islamic terrorism or not?
Police officers shoot wild all the time, have many ricochets, hit many unintended citizens.....
Anyone can have functioning problems, under extreme stress...
Kerist- she fired 2 rounds at people- No malice- really.Whether or not she’s a sharpshooter, Duva-Rodriguez will now have to wait until at least 2023 to carry a concealed weapon again, Nicholson ordered.
“I don’t believe any malice was involved in what you were doing,” the judge said, according to the AP, “but I believe you have to think about what could have happened.”
Except, you are totally off base with this!
If anyone needs constructive criticism, it's those who have no idea what they are talking about.
A tired, false worn out meme from the 'gun' rubbers....
First these schools have roving ARMED police patrols, so easy isn't the word i'd pick. Next so few CCW carry even in 'gun' friendly state the odds of a skilled and courageous citizen being at the right place at the right time is slim at best.
Next- most workplace/higher education shootings are REVENGE shootings- targeting a particular person, perhaps a couple of people- hence low body counts compared to primary and secondary shootings or public assembly mass murder. The odds of armed citizens being able to stop the shooter from taking down the primary target are extremely low. (I believe this is being called a murder-suicide- little hope of any CCW stopping at least the first death and the second one was again the shooter's intent as well)
But do keep rubbing that 'gun' and clinging to myths... eace
I thought it was against the school policy to brings guns onto the UCLA campus.

You can disagree, if you'd like.......
However, in a classroom full of people, that element of surprise is momentary.............. and a CCW person also has an element of surprise.
An active shooter has to focus on one person at a time, leaving them vulnerable to others.
If a person is packing a firearm and has his/her CC permit, they are not untrained, nor should they be waving a gun around...that denotes a reckless, untrained person.
Calif. requires 16 hours of training....minimum. I require the same in my classes.

It's one thing in practice--- it's quite another when **** actually goes down.
Let's say a shooter is using an AR-15 semi automatic rifle. He can fire at least twenty times in a very short period of time. Assume he only hits 60% of his shots--- that's still at least ten people dead or wounded. Meanwhile the good guy still needs to draw the handgun, disengage the safety, find a clear lane of fire to the target and incapacitate the shooter by shooting him in the head or upper torso, all in the span of seconds while adrenaline is pumping, people are screaming and running everywhere....
Are you under the impression that the AR platform negates those things (aiming, adrenaline, safety, etc)?
No myth at all. It's denial by anti-gun folks who don't know squat.
And yet, it has been very easy for the bad guys to act. Roving armed police patrols can't be everywhere and the bad guys know that. Besides, I don't know what schools have that. Many schools have few on duty at one time, some schools have none.
As for revenge, sometimes, but there were 30 people killed at Virginia Tech in '07, by one guy. And that one guy could have been easily taken out at anytime if anyone was armed....they weren't and 30 died and several wounded. Not revenge...a nutjob.
Same thing at UCC in Oregon in Oct. 9 died, 8 wounded...maybe revenge...but a nutjob nevertheless.
One or two armed citizens could have taken him out forthwith.
You won't see this happening next fall in Texas, My kids will be armed with AR-15's for class. Violence breaks they will eliminate the threat.
Ca does not require 16 hours of training, and as of January first of this year the ccw exemption has been removed from GFZ.
Sometimes sarcasm can be used to highlight the ineffectiveness of rules like gun free zones.Atta boy. Third post, less than a half-hour in, and here you are making sarcastic points off it.
Every time this happens, it's one of maybe five posters who make the obligatory lowbrow, petulant snear about 'gun-free zones'. Damn. You guys don't care how you look, do you.
You are so right, you don't have an agenda, you are not exploiting a tragedy...
Chicago and DC said to tell you 'hello' this past weekend.
Well, that should take care of the gangs....but train them to know their target and what is beyond that target.
.223/5.56 bullets, as you probably know, will zip thru several people.
The AR would not be my choice for self defense at school.
From USA Carry:
Requirements:
California law allows Police Chiefs and County Sheriffs to issue a license to carry a concealed firearm if the following requirements are met:
1. Upon proof that the person applying is of good moral character
2. That good cause exists for the issuance
3. The applicant is a resident of the county or city to which they are applying (or the applicant’s place of employment is within the city or county)
4. The applicant has completed a course of training (16-24 hours)

And USA carry would be wrong.
Training acceptable to the issuing authority but no more than 16 hours.
