(CNN) - If Sarah Palin is looking for a top political strategist to help navigate the waters of her political future, Karl Rove may not be the guy.

The former top Bush aide says the former Alaska governor has not proven to have the "gravitas" to sit in the Oval Office - and, says Rove, her upcoming reality television show is only going to make things worse.

"With all due candor, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office,'" Rove told London's The Daily Telegraph in an interview published Wednesday night.

The senior GOP strategist, who, like Palin, is a contributor to Fox News, added that one of Palin's comments in the preview of her new show is particularly harmful to future political ambitions.

"I would rather be doing this than in some stuffy old political office!" Palin is seen proclaiming in between scenes of kayaking and dog-sled excursions.

"Gravitas" tends to be code for "I can't really enunciate what I don't like about him/her, so I'll just throw out this fancy Latin term that makes me sound smart and hope that people will fall for it."

Karl Rove needs to STFU. He just doesn't want her to run so the GOP can put up another lame assed old white guy. Rove is definitely "old school" and thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant.

Isn't that basically the same thing Palin thinks? She'd rather be hunting caribou than governing anyway, by her own admission.

I think Rove has the best interest of the Republican party at heart. You'd do well to listen to him, the man is a political genius after all.

How is it a fancy Latin word? It means exactly what it sounds like, gravity.

Anyway, Rove doesn't need to use Latin to sound smart. He's the guy who still says "nukular" so as to avoid sounding too smart.

I'm telling you, it's a code word. He's saying Palin is too ditzy to be president.

I remember back in the day the media was mouth foaming about Bush not having the "gravitas", etc etc.... It's an idiotic pseudo-intellectual word.

I don't see how she could ever be nominated. Even Mitt Romney could beat her.

What are you unable to use a dictionary? The two words "Gravitas" and "Gravity" are cognates, and the English word gravity, as in importance or seriousness, is almost exactly the same shade of meaning as the Latin virtue of gravitas.

Like I said, he was using as a code word for her intelligence. He was basically calling her, and by extension the tea party movement, stupid.

But gravitas means gravity or seriousness and that's what Rove was at least ostensibly talking about

Not sure you're right about that, but if so, for a different reason than conservatives aren't. Many of them think he hasn't gone far enough. They want someone more liberal.

Spade a spade bro. You think he's not left wing enough. Please explain some examples how you think so. I'll wait. Concentrate on the economic policies first.... Why you try to hide your stripes tiger is beyond me. :shrug:
