Ted Cruz Infuriates House GOP By Conceding Defeat On Obamacare Repeal

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans are fuming at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for conceding that the party's efforts to repeal Obamacare aren't going anywhere in the Senate -- and leaving the House to keep fighting over it anyway.

Cruz, a tea party favorite, is one of the most vocal proponents of defunding the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's health care reform law. He's spent months championing the cause. But on Wednesday, as House Republican leaders unveiled their latest plan for sinking Obamacare -- tying a measure to defund the law to a must-pass resolution that keeps the government running -- Cruz thanked House Republicans for their fight, and said they're on their own.

A commentary on the cannibalism...

Cruz pointing out the reality of the situation is apparently too much to bear for many Republicans. In what universe will the Senate ever vote to defund Obamacare? Perhaps some of those fire breathers in the House could invite 15 or so Democratic senators out for a few drinks, slip them some mickeys, and force Harry Reid to bring the continuing resolution to the floor where it can be passed. Other than that, they have no strategy, no arguments they can make to Democratic senators to get them to change their minds, and no threats that haven’t already been made. There are no parliamentary gimmicks that Republicans can use to engineer victory. A filibuster would shut down the government, which the Democrats are perfectly prepared to do. But how long can that go on?

If you come to me and ask for money to pay your light bill, your house payment, your car payment, your cable TV bill, and money to feed your family. I say I will give you money for everything but the cable TV bill. and you say I don't want any of what you offered if you cant also pay my cable bill. do you have the right to go out and say I was letting your family starve because I wouldn't give you money to help pay your bills?

What republicans are trying to do is stop a train wreck that the majority of America and I repeat the majority of America doesn't want.
they want to kill a law that has cost people their jobs and has forced many others into part time.
they are attempting to stop a program that has raised the cost of health care and has forced the public to lose the health insurance they already have

So you can attempt to spin this as republicans are trying to shut down the government, but any one with half a brain when they are informed with the truth would come to the conclusion it is your side that would rather shut down the government so to keep this train wreck happening that the majority doesn't want

but the problem with the American public is there are to many just like you who that would rather fall for the spin then to face logic and common sense. they rather see the demise of this nation then fess up to the facts, admit fault and that Obama Care is a train wreck

Republicans have nothing to lose in fighting an unpopular bill. They will strengthen their base and in a couple years when the bait and switch is complete and the exchanges reflect the true cost of health care, instead of the introductory offer that Obamacare gives them in the opening years people will realize how the democrats screwed them.

this is a defining moment in American history years from now if Obama care the train wreck is left to stand and be implemented it will be the cartelist the start of socialist America
historians will look back when America becomes just like the half a dozen other socialist nations that are going bankrupt and they will say it all started with Obama care

This commentary looks exactly like the views expressed when Medicare was passed in the 60s. Reagan said it would destroy America.

The GOP fears successful Obamacare implementation, and in 40 years will look as silly as Reagan did. It's going to be a rocky start because of the obstruction, but it should work.

Obama care the train wreck
This is what I always think of when I hear people regurgitate the "train wreck" rhetoric.

As far as the topic goes, it's not surprising Republicans would act this way towards one of their own. They've done it many times before (Chris Christie being the most notable). The black Democrat as President has turned the Republican party into raving lunatics.

Agreed, sort of. Defunding Obamacare has no chance of passing a democrat controlled senate or getting signed by the guy whose name it glorifies. Elections have consequences though and if enough people are motivated in the mid terms we may see a turn in policy. The answer is for the Libertarian party to take some measure of control over the republicans. Republicans are generally just as invested in big government as democrats. Both parties are the problem. It's easy to see when you look at the perks they grant themselves. There isn't a broom big enough to sweep away the self dealing politicians in Washington.

problem is name one social program that has been implemented that latter was repealed. if we let Obama care go forward we own it that it we are stuck with it and with it the patch to socialism it needs to be stopped now or there is no stopping it

I absolutely agree but it's not going to be stopped in Congress. The only chance is the ballot box but when the uninformed think they are getting something for free it's difficult to get them to vote to take it away. That's why the exchanges are cheap for a couple years. After that we are all boiling frogs.

I can only speak from my own perspective. My wife and I are both retired. I'm 79 years old. Since ObamaCare first began to be implemented the only thing which has changed for us is that now we don't even have to do co pays which we used to have to pay. Admitted we do have a good health care plan which pretty well covers everything we run into including prescriptions. I think the elimination of an insurance company being able to refuse to cover pre existing conditions is one of the best things to happen in my lifetime. I think the part which requires companies to spend at least 80% of their premium collections on actual care for clients is huge. At some point this bull**** allowing more than 500 companies and a million doctors to rake off as much as they can has to stop and ObamaCare will do that. The only reason the Republicans are raising so much hell over this is they're afraid it will actually cost them another percent or two on their millions when they pay their taxes. **** 'em

guess what Medicare will be bankrupt in 10 years and has $123 Trillion In Unfunded Liabilities that is $400,000 that ever man women and child will have to pay to keep it afloat.
you call that a success?

Medicare =/= ObamaCare

and you are doing that on the backs of your children and your grand children they are going to be forced to pay your bills with both higher taxes and higher insurance cost. doesn't that bother you one bit?

who gave you that line of crap that Obama care will lower health care cost? name one part of Obama care that does it. if anything it will raise cost because many doctors will be leaving the profession because of Obama care. so the less doctors you have the higher the cost it will be to see one. it is called supply and demand the more that demand a product or service and less of the product or service you have the higher the cost of that product or service

Is the title your original commentary on this topic?

Yep. The proud Americans that actually believe that we need not continue to grow the huge federal nanny state ever larger, that folks do not deserve far more than they are able to earn through honest work and that using their fringe benefit of medical care insurance at work as a new source of income redistribution is wrong may disagree with you. Your version of compromise is basically unfettered single party rule and the oppostion party should simply shut up and let the federal gov't grow itself ever more. Perhaps the rebublicants have picked the wrong thing (the latest entitlement added) to attack and should instead insist that the demorats put forth a balanced budget since Obama assures us that these programs would not "a single dime" to the deficit. We are now told, by the teleprompter in chief, that raising the debt ceiling (yet again) will not increase the national debt.

I need money to pay my light bill, my house payment, my car payment, and to feed my family. Please make the check out to "imagep". Or send cash immediately.

By the way, I already paid my cable bill this month, so don't worry about it.
