Pure "gerrymandering" kept this seat for Charlie.

Perhaps, and such will help republicans in the futrue. But someone still ahd to look at his corruption and make the vote anyway. That still saddens me.
apparently the color of his skin was more important than the content of his character. that is what is truely sad.

And we have a winner in the race to the race card contest. Congrats on being the first to play it!
truth hurts sometimes. black candidate elected by a predominately black district and you expect people to think race isn't an issue. please
I guess you also think that race had nothing to do with Marion Berry being repeatedly elected as the Mayor of DC as well.
Oh wow, and white candidates tend to get elected in predominately white districts. That must be race too!
black candidates get elected in white districts all the time (POTUS Obama ring a bell????) white candidates in black districts.....not so much.
4% of black voters voted for the white guy (McCain)
43% of white voters voted for the black guy (Obama)
96% of black voters voted for Obama and you expect people to think that none of that was due to race? really....
like it or not, black voters, in general, are more likely to vote for a black candidate over a white candidate regardless of policy or party. If stating this statistical truth makes me a racist....then so be it.

And black people tend to vote democratic in similar rates. Your crying racism is failing miserably.
Slight point here, can you tell us what happens when a black man declares him or her self a conservative in a predominately black district? What names they are called?
I remember Michael Steele's visit to Howard University in Maryland when I lived there. They threw Oreo's at him.

Is that universial, or Steele in particular? It makes a difference.
That is correct, he is no longer the Chair of Ways and Means and has not been for awhile. Not sure if he resigned or was tossed, but he has not been the chair for a few months.
I enjoy watching people who will take every opportunity to make something nonpartisan into something partisan. Corruption is not a party thing, both parties have corrupt people, and it is not a reflection on either party, no matter how much some people will try and make it such.

I have a black friend in my neighorhood who told me the reason they moved was that his kids were being called sell-outs - trying to be "white" - for making good grades at the predominantly black school they attended. He also said this is a big and growing problem in lots of urban schools.

I really do not know what to say to that post from Erod.
Of course you don't. Because you're too Liberal and PC to admit that the biggest problem within the black community, are alot of the people, within the black community.
